I'm so glad this was made and she wrote her autobiography before she died, so she got to tell her own story. A tremendous woman, gone far too soon.

R.I.P 💔 “I'm trying to learn to love myself. I deserve to be treated with respect. I deserve to be heard. I am a woman and I have something to offer. I have carried around grief over my lost childhood and its horrors. I have a hard time being myself and showing my feelings. I must have released the pain that is blocking me. Otherwise I won't survive. I was angry because I was afraid, but if you listen, you realize that we don't know what we are doing when we make fun of emotions. When we cringe at the sound of children crying, there is a mirror we don't look into. I am an abused child and the whole world needs to hear about it, and about all other abused children. We don't shut up just because people don't want to hear about it.” Sinéad O'Connor

Just watched this today. Can’t say I’m a fan of her music (just not my thing) she was undeniably an immense talent. And that she stood strong in her convictions is a testament to her integrity and will power. That’s some real punk rock shit. I was quite surprised Prince’s estate didn’t allow the us of “ Nothing Compares 2 U” in the film, considering it was her who made it a massive global hit. I can’t help but wonder how Prince would have felt about this. RIP to two legends.

@@LimerickWarrior1 the easiest laziest insult to give a woman is to call her crazy. Most women who use their voice loudly to call out injustices are called crazy. Heck, most women who just use their voice loudly are called crazy. It’s the universal, go-to label to keep women down, mute her, vilify her, oppress her, devalidate her, undermine her, discredit her, etc . And it’s almost always totally unfounded and invalid.

I'm not sure what I think about the documentary. It focused a lot on the birth of her first child and ignored the three others. There was zero mention of her battle with mental illness. Maybe because it was made when she was still alive and these omissions were her choice. It just made me feel empty and sad. There was more to the story. Rest in peace Sinead. I'm glad you said you had no regrets xo

THANK HER PARENTS for the miserable life she went through. An actively defiant individual is not a good foundation for becoming a star, but that's not what she apparently was looking for. She didn't want to conform, especially when it came to her career. Her look, was radical and abusive to most audiences, especially American, she looked like a boy in drag, but she didn't care. Having a following of activists, feminists, lesbians and radical haters of society were her base. She CHOSE which direction to take in life and suffered the consequences . She even raised a child, a son she lost custody of that eventually committed suicide. Her one hit wonder, " Nothing Compares," which was a beautiful song, showed her sensitivity and became an instant success. Her refusal to perform if the National Anthem was played started her demise. Many said, "If you don't want the Anthem to play and you don't like AMERICA, then don't come here and take AMERICAN MONEY!" Her appearance on SNL would be the decisive act that would end her career. Her drive to be so radical cut off any chance of continuing her success. She could have done so much more. It's a tragic story and a tragic life. Either way, she made her mark. She brought it all on herself. She loved the power of DEFIANCE. IT GAVE HER A CAREER AND TOOK IT AWAY.

Thank the idiots who continued to abuse her throughout her life too. Her abuse didn't stop with her mum's death or her adulthood. She didn't look like a boy at all never mind a boy in drag. She raised 4 children and the men in her life, their parents of 2 of those fought for custody to get money out of her and to hurt her. Hence why her son couldn't live without her in his life and lived in much pain. She had many hits, at least 26 of her songs were a hit. She had hits before NC and after. NC's videoclip showed her emotional connection which connected to her audience's emotions worldwide. US religious and nationalist extremists were very powerful at the time unfortunately and they couldn't take any kind of difference of opinion like true fascists they are. Her career continued to flourish after her denouncing catholic clergy and families' children abuse, but you might have not known due to mass media willingness to cancel her. She continued her success her way which is more than a lot of us can say. She didn't bring anything on herself. The public, the music industry, and other idiots abusing her and bullying her is because of how damaged and self-deluded they all were and some continue to be like you. She defied criminals who hurt children abusing their power. Her defiance didn't give her a career nor it took it away. She gave herself her own career until she died. Wake up for f sake!
