“License to ill” was the first cassette tape I ever bought with my own money. Seventh grade, 1987. Still listening to that album today!

They are a bit of a parody of hardcore rap groups of the day. Part of their charm was their sense of humor & ability to poke fun at themselves. The entire License to ill, is non stop hits! Youlll love it.

They managed to fuse Punk to Funk, Blues and Jazz, other worldly sounds from all cultures and even other worldly sounds, but always stay true to the Hip-Hop culture with their politically charges lyrics and love for all human beings. They startrd with Fight for your right to party and Girls tuan matured to Party for your right to fight, respect to women and all lifestyles; They are truly legends.

Greg you should watch the HipHopDX youtube video breakdown on the Beastie Boys titled - The greatest group of all-time. It's a tremendous evaluation of how they began and the impact of their abilities on rap forever. They also had so much variation, played instruments and live were every bit as on time as their albums. Watch the 1999 MTV video concert in Glasgow to taste how awesome they were live. Glad I got to see them. RIP MCA

They acted like total goofs any chance you gave them. And on the other hand, incredibly talented hard working guys that created some of the best rap of all time. If MCA was still alive, they would still be doing this.

their first few videos- this being one of them were obviously made with like no budget and like you said goofy- they had a completely different sound starting their next album- not that i didn't love me this first one too- check pass the mic or root down if you want to see a video made with more than a 50 dollar budget
