"Woo-hah, got them all in check!" is from the Sugarhill Gang. The Beastie Boys (with the Dust Brothers) sampled it before Busta Rhymes referenced it, but the original source is a track called "8th Wonder".

Its estimated the clearance rights to samples used on Pauls Boutique would be near 40 million today. They got in so early they got away with it. This album still sounds like what music in the future will sound like.

These guys never took themselves seriously in a hip-hop world where everyone takes themselves too seriously. Refreshing, silly, fun and they got the skills to pay the bills. They also played all the instruments on their albums so they could do a lot more than spit rhymes.

The man they show at the end, E.Z Mike, was the man that produced this album, and though he hasn't done much under that moniker, he produced another killer record in the early 90's called odelay by a contemporary of the beasties named Beck. check out the songs: I'm a loser, or Devil's haircut, to hear something similar.

Prop up 3 cameras, get moving shots looking up by having someone ride on the bottom of a shopping cart someone else is pulling, run around town using location without permits, and so on…. A fan from day one. I saw them open for Madonna and this is my favorite song from my favorite álbum. The álbum was so good they made it illegal to replicate anything else like it 😂😂😂

The sample you heard, "Woo Hah, got you all in check" is actually from the 1981 Sugarhill Gang track "8th Wonder". Busta borrowed that and got sued by Sugarhill Gand because he didn't give them credit nor get permission

I love your son's idea. I used to dress up working in a living history museum and it was so fun to go back in time. I'm old now and its so nice to see the Beasties put the stank face on new generations.

No modern producer could afford the samples that are on this entire record.
