This reminds me of back when i had a dell prebuilt with one 80mm case fan and the intel stock cooler. The tower also was pretty small too. In just that 35% utilization of the intel4790 non-k i would get while playing games it would usually hover around 80-85 degrees. It would throttle at 95 degrees and i stresstested it and it stayed at 95 degrees (very very loud). The base clock was 3.6ghz and it could boost up to 4.0ghz (i couldnt change that because it was non-k) but at 100% load it throttles down to about 1.8ghz

Lapping did lower the temp about 5C, but the temp would still exceed the 90C the motherboard would start beeping at. This was not overclocked, but running folding at home. The SIMD instructions seem to generate more heat.

I think it should be fine with the 3900x i have a 750 watt evga g3 i just dont want to bother with putting it in though i might because i have a radeon vii on the shelf that would barely fit in the case. But it’s not like its much faster gaming but it would just be cool to put all that power in a small itx case.

The Wraith Stealth cooler is not noisy, because... it does not have as much RPM as old AMD BOX coolers had and it´s bigger. I was using my Wraith Stealth to cool down AM4 CPU in some low-cost build until a replacement arrived and it wasn´t very noisy even at max rpm. It might have something to do with fan diameter - old BOX cooler was 60mm fan with 6000rpm, these are 92mm fans with 80mm fan holes and they max out at @3000rpm. That said, current cooler - Arctic Freezer 34 - on that particular CPU is now even quieter, but i had to replace stock fan for Noctua.

That moment I hit 10,550 on my i7-9700k @5.1ghz . Temperatures mean everything when coming to boost. I never see above 55°c during stress tests with my air tunnel case.

Just a video suggestion. Can you do Ryzen 5000 on B450 or A320 motherboard? Assuming AMD is not against it.

@@SoriPop I know, but there are people who says it works. Even on the A320 which isn't going to have an official support.

I'm running the Wraith Prism on my 5950x. getting similar temperatures to this video.. not quite as much throttling though. I'm idling at around 60 degrees in 34 degree ambient temperature (summertime in the southern hemisphere).. would not recommend a stock cooler with this CPU.

From my experience the only viable ways of cooling the 5950x at least in my case was a noctua nh-d15 or a custom water loop.

greg, check out CTR, for ryzen cpu's its a badass app. basically a easy OC that optimizes your CCX cores, gets you the fastest possible performance out of the chip, while using the least amount of power, something you should look into bud, its on techpowerup, guru3d etc, you wanna use 1usmus ryzen power plan , and newest chipset bios, and cbr20

With watercooling and a 5950x you should get at least 11000 point in CB R20... why are you still below 10000?

Weird with a 360aio it's a even to worse score than my 3950x on a similar cooler. 3950x limits boost cause it runs out of power also with low thermals similarly even on a premium mother board. it's hard capped, but I wonder if that asrock board is limiting the 5950x. Either way it would make me question id they're really seeing the efficiency gains per watt they're claiming.

Know what pissed me off about the 3600 i bought? it came with that wraith stealth, cool, its good enough for the 3600 nonX, but the main issue i have is that the cooler, from AMD, does not support the freaking AMD mounting solution, which meant i had to take apart the pre-installed mounting solution on the motherboard Anyhoozlebe, with my 3950x i can passively cool it with a noctua C14S if i use windows power plan-eco, package power sits at around 50w and the CPU doesnt pass 90c with a cinebench loop, if i turn the fan on lowest setting, the temps drop down to ~35c(i have a low ambient temp of like 18-19c) If i remove the fan, and use a cardboard box to act as a chimney it will normally settle around 80c Edit, the clock speeds of 'power saver' are 2.2ghz, but still, 16 cores at 2.2ghz IIRC the Dell Poweredge R720 at work also has 16 cores at 2.2ghz, but uses close to 200w instead of 50w
