In my high school, we actually had a school security that took classes in Ju-Jitsu and Kickboxing. We took Ju-Jitsu for learning how to disarm the opponent and take the fight to the ground (if necessary) and Kickboxing in case we needed more than just throws. It actually did work quite well too. We barely had any bullies in school because of that. Edit: However, we did have some problems with it. For example, in one instance of ASS (After-School-Suspension and yes we all chuckled when we first heard that), we had 2 bullies who tried to surprise one of the officers (mainly cause they were the only kids in ASS at the time). Luckily, he was very trained for this situation (mostly because he took Muay Thai before training even started for the other officers) and actually broke one of the kids' arms by getting them in a standing arm bar. Twice actually. The first time, he gave them both an option to surrender and stop trying to cause more trouble, so the kids said they will. But then, like an idiot, one of them tried to sucker punch him, and so he got his arm broken after that. And I guess the other kid got scared because of that, because he was barely anywhere outside of the main classes He got suspended for the rest of the year (which wasn't even a whole lot cause this was in the 2nd semester), but he was seen as a hero afterwards. Crazy to think about now that I mention it

That "school security" reminds me of a Swedish novel by Jan Gillou called Ondskan (Swedish for "evil"). The novel is set in 50's Sweden and tells about a violent teenage boy who gets expelled from his school, only to end up in an elite school where a "school council" consisting of bullies from rich families are allowed to abuse younger students in the name of "order", while the teachers don't do shit, and one of the teachers is a Nazi. In the end, the boy defeats the bullies and after graduating, he returns home to teach his abusive father a lesson. It's a good novel and the movie adaptation wasn't bad either.

Prince Stormstrider That description, and the whole school security thing in this movie, both remind me of Kill La Kill( if you took out the extreme violence, wierd humor, and superpowers). You know with a school council that in all fairness would be taken down by the government just for how extreme and abusive it is.

What was so bad about Karate Kid Part 3? It wasn't really that much of a copycat of the original. It was actually a good idea to have the villain from the first film in there because it's nice to see a bit of why he is as bad as he is. We were told that he went to war once and the war's torture did a lot of psychological damage. Plus they showed that the relationship between Daniel and Mr. Miyagi wasn't perfect, and that Mr. Miyagi, after being with Daniel for 9 months, had started to view Daniel like family.

Dude... the Next Karate Kid is my second favourite. My first is Karate Kid II. I loved Julie as a character. Feeding a sick Hawk.... and... that scene with the cops is fairly accurate in my life I've found. The weird psycho teacher... is pretty normal in midwestern schools... I thought so any ways. Keep in mind, Julie is the closest to a strong female character that exists in a lot of the media. Seriously... go through media with strong female roles... and put Julie compared to the rest of them. Julie vs. the really rapey student security group. Seriously... every villain in this movie was, "Imma gonna rape you Julie" It is on par with every bad person being all, "you have a purdy mouth... I bet you squeal like a pig." As per what those guys were doing in the dance: trying to impress a girl. I've had guys do that all the time for me. Murder becomes part of the job when there is a cute girl you want to bone. Just... trust me on that.

Matthew Dover No, no, no... it was the main student. The adult's protege if you will. He was wanting to have her raped via his protege. You'll notice that one dude who was all rapey on Julie was the guy who created that security groups' favourite kid. He mostly just wants to enable her rape, to help enforce his ideas that he is giving the school security team.

Maybe right now he's working at the banzai tree shop him and Miyagi own and/or he started college since he said on the third film that he needs a break from school. (Hopefully, he's not being bullied by John Kreese, Terry Silver, and Mike Barnes without Miyagi around). It's a good thing that Daniel was at least mentioned one time on this movie.

It should actually be julie-kun and daniel-kun, not san. When refering to someone lower down the food chain, you use the suffix kun. San is for people above you, authority figures, elders, etc. If they are younger, subordiante, etc. or on equal footing, then you use kun. WHY DOES NO-ONE KNOW THIS?! IT'S JAPANESE 101!!!

"San" is kind of like the every-honorific. It's like "Mr." or "Ms" and isn't exclusive to rank, age, or gender. You can use this to talk to anyone, basically. "Sama" is an honorific you might use for someone of higher rank (maybe that's where you got mixed up?) Technically he could use the honorific "kun" for her, but generally it's reserved more for males in a friendly situation. "Kun" wouldn't *technically* be incorrect, as it can work in conversations between teacher/student, but it would be kinda weird.

i also wonder how much English Pat Morita knew. i bet by this point he was telling the directors "hey man, you do know my English is pretty good right? even if it wasn't, why would I constantly be speaking in the 3rd person? it just doesn't make sense. would my speaking english like a human hurt the movie? he asked. Adding "I'm not a Japanese robot. I mean, I still have the accent. Do I really have to start every sentence with Miagi say or Miagi think...?"

His English was flawless, he was born and raised in the US. He even worked as a stand-up comedian in the '70s. His Japanese, on the other hand, was pretty basic (he himself said so in interviews, but idk if he was simply being humble).

What you were told was not true. The movie likely takes place not long after the last movie and Daniel is probably still alive. But since this movie takes place in Boston and not California Daniel isn't there since Mr. Miyagi was only traveling there to accept a Medal. He does briefly mention Daniel at one point to Julie early on, and it was likely his reference to the line "Boys easier" at 10:18 But no, Daniel doesn't appear in the film. Ralph Machio was in his 30's when this movie was made.

O_o...she doesn't seem to know anything other than to attract perverts who are into rape and beating and pouting and yelling and complaining so...how did she even figured out? O_O

I loved this movie as a kid... I know it's not that great, but back then there just weren't many films starring a female protagonist who actually /fought/ for her cause. The only other two I can think of are Mulan and Nausicaa: Of the Valley of the Wind. As a young girl who ended up in martial arts, this film was a big source of inspiration for me.

The Departed. Reservoir Dogs. Some Like It Hot. A Fistful Of Dollars. Cape Fear. Scarface. Insomnia. I'll stop here, but there are plenty of what are regarded as good remakes, some even better than the originals. even so the KK remake (which used Kung Fu not Karate) was still good, maybe as good as the original...which was a poor Rocky rip-off at best and the remake was certainly better than any of the really, really, really bad sequels.

FaceUnreality Not seen that one yet. My Gramps was a big John Wayne fan so I grew up with the original. But I'll take a look at the remake sometime. But even so, I fail to see why most people think a remake HAS to be better, why can it not just be a good film in it's own right? The narrow mindedness of the "anti-remake crowd" really does baffle me at times. There are plenty of original films that are bad, so it's not something synonymous with remakes. There are bad remakes sure, but there are good remakes to...even great remakes. Just like there are with original films too.
