Its crazy as I was watching this video a huge thunderstorm hit and I just walked outside and talked to thor and after that I just feel a warm glowing feeling inside me and I just thanked him for everything he's done for me and every time I talk it went quite and after I was done a rour of thunder would come and I just felt like he was talking back

i'm a Norse Pagan with Celtic influences, and lately some Slavic influences. So for midsummer I'll make some Kompot and Kisse and light a candle for Freyja and the greenman, maybe offer some Kisse to Njord and Kompot to Freyr

@@stefantrifonov9120 I'm from upstate New York in the U.S., and I have a lot of exposure to Slavs. I went to school with a few and had a Polish teacher. Most of it's just interest and my own research, but slowly my Norse faith is gaining Slavic influences. I particularly enjoy the idea of Perun with his axe. I even have a pendant of Perun's axe that has Nordic and Celtic symbols on it, I wear it alongside my Mjölnir. I wouldn't put it past myself to depict Thor with an axe just like Perun

@@dracodistortion9447these two paths- the Slavic and the Norse, are really close to each other. In all of the Slavic countries there are still pagan traditions even most of the community is Christian. Like, we are Christians but you can feel we really don’t believe in it the way we do in Perun. Slava and Skal to our ancestors and brothers by faith.

@@stefantrifonov9120 Celts, Germans and Slavs are Northern brothers. I'm no racist but when you all live in the same climate with the same enemies and interconnected histories, you gain a special bond with each other. Hail the Slavs, Celts and Germanic peoples.

You should go to Flossenburg concentration camp. There is also remains of on of the oldest castles near Floss that was featured in the original Frankenstein movie. My dad was a prisoner in Flossenburg concentration camp..1941 to 1945 and when he was liberated he married my mother (from Floss) in 1948. Floss is a small town, Jacob would love it. My mother worked in Weiden during the war from an insurance company. She was 16 and was doing an apprenticeship while in highschool. I am proud of my Austrian heritage. My mother was an Austrian orphan raised in Germany during WW2. My dad was Ukrainian. They meet in Floss in 1946. Even though my father was a prisoner in Flossenburg concentration camp, he loved Germany (or Deutschland as the Deutsch call it) and the German people. When I was young, I asked my father how he could love my mom when the Germans put him in the Concentration camp, he said that their are bad people in every country. My dad's father was executed by the Soviet Union Red Army in the Ukraine in 1944! My father didn't go home till 1972 and he hated it because it was under communism back the. My Dad wanted to stay in Germany but in 1950, my mother's foster mother told my parents to go to America, so in 1950 my parents did move to Buffalo NY where a relative of his was living and my family has lived in till today. Bla bla bla. Have fun in Deutschland, Jacob. It is an amazing country to which I am proud my family came from. Veterzain!

It is so cool for a german seeing all those backgrounds from munich as I have already been there so often. Also seeing the alps is really a spectacle when it first happens, I remember my father explaining to me when I was a child that "those blue mountains on the horizon are the alps" when we were going to see my family.

My Daughter's birthday is June 22. Midsummer is extra special for me!

It was pretty cool the day before I did my solo mid summer fire i saw a hawk flying around were I live. And last night i did the first night fire and felt freya and the summer gods/goddesses near. I also thanked idunna and brigid for there blessings of spring

We have been trying to get one going there for awhile now, but COVID has made it near impossible. It got to Theo pint where a spot was chosen but restrictions tightened again

I am very surprised that Múnich does have their May pole still up in the town square, like almost every other German town. Will usually keep it up almost all year.

The Oak and Thor connection reminded me that Oak trees are nature's lightning rods. Seriously. You don't want to be under one in a lightning storm. Had like 4 oaks downed by lightning in the woods in the back of my yard growing up. I'm sure there's a scientific reason for this, but lightning just loves it some Oaks.

Last night was my first summer solstice as a Norse pagan and I live with Christian family, so I had to keep it lowkey. I decorated my room with wildflowers I picked in an “outdoorsy” area near my house and me and my parrot danced to some popular Swedish midsummer songs, including Små Gradorna, a very popular, fun, and simple midsummer song. My parrot loves catchy, upbeat music so he was just as into it as me lol. Once the sun started going down I went out to the outdoorsy area near my house again. Wanted to light some candles since a traditional bonfire wasn’t really an option, but we’re under a wildfire advisory right now, so couldn’t do that either. As I sat on my favorite sitting rock in this area, the moon peaked out from behind the clouds at exactly 9:30 pm. The sky didn’t get as dark as it normally does at night and it was cloudy, so the moon peaking out like that was really a magical feeling. Today I’ll probably make an offering to Freyja and/or another fertility/Vanir deity. Hopefully next year, certainly within the next few years, I can go all-out and maybe even have other people to celebrate with!

Keep doing your own reachsearch brother I have been a fully Norse pagan for the past 10 years but Odin found me when I was 5 years old and I can tell you brother the allfather and Thor saved me from my own darkness go outside into the woods and try speaking to the gods brother and the gods will guide you that I promise you my brother you have my word on that

Thank you for defining what is UPG and what comes from the closest sources we have to the original beliefs. Way too many pagans present UPG as fact without using anything to back up their claims.

How are you enjoying Germany? I've only traveled there once, but it was to Munich and the surrounding areas. Great being able to see the foothills of the Alps and get into some Bavarian countryside. I strongly recommend you take the train from Munich to Herrsching and go to the Andechs monastery and brewery. Gorgeous walk through the trees, only to find a beautiful old abbey, complete with a beer garden featuring some of the best beer and food I had in the area. If you go, have a full liter and a schweinshaxe for me! Prost!

@@TheWisdomOfOdin I'd like your take on some of the negatives. I'm not trying to start a debate or anything, just curious. I was only there for a week, not significantly longer like you, so I'm sure you'll have more insight than me into day to day living. I would never want to live in a larger city like Munich, but I loved the countryside that I saw in that area. I grew up rural and had my fill of the city hustle and bustle when I lived in Portland, Maine for 10 years, despite it being a really tiny city (it barely qualified), and before Portland's recent gentrification and slow population boom (people migrating from Massachusetts and NYC). The only useful thing about metro areas for me are proximity to concerts and other cultural events.

@@thewal1ofsleep I think the negatives are true among many larger cities, but for me the biggest observation is the lack of care of the people here on their monuments. Every single monument I have been to in the city is absolutely covered in trash. And they are often graffitied as well. This shows a disrespectful/unhappy populace and/or a disorganized/ineffective government. Everyone here is nice, but the large majority of people seem to be stuck in some kind of limbo, unaware of what is around them. They live in an old and beautiful city, and yet I feel like no one here even recognizes what lies past their next meal, or outdoor beer. There are a lot of elements to this I think, namely the lack of religion/morality here. Germany may be 60% christian but I also have read only 10% are active members of any church. So overall I guess you could say its a beautiful city that seems to have lost its soul. Naturally there are people here who do care, and I am sure many germans still love the soul of their city. And I have been to areas of town that are very beautiful and well maintained. It just seems the older parts of town aren't getting the love they need from the people or the government. But hey my experience with German doctors/hospitals was wonderful, they have great health care 😂

I do love your videos. The part I am having a hard time with norse pagan holidays is what is traditional and what is the wiccan wheel of the year or celtic/druid based that we just say are norse?

If you haven’t already check out my Heathen holidays video I go into this. Every Heathen/Asatru group seems to celebrate different holidays. And each Scandinavian country seems to do different things. So there doesn’t seem to be one right answer. Not to mention depending on where you live the seasons are different (Yule in June for Australians) That’s why I stick to the equinoxes and the solstices. 1 major holiday per season change has been a great way to reflect and also each seem to have different themes naturally in accordance to the weather

@@TheWisdomOfOdin I did watch it and it was great. My husband and I want to go the reconstructionist route and it is hard with the holidays. We may have to adapt the solar calendar for that lol. ​@@brittneylannan3978 If you want to go the more reconstructionist route, I HIGHLY recommend the channel "Norse Magic and Beliefs". He goes into detail about the Norse Calendar and how they viewed the year from their perspective, and overall is a channel I'd recommend to anyone who wants to go down that path.

People may ask why we swedes doesn't seem to care about national day of june the 6. That is because our national are something artifical to us. Midsummer are our true national day.

Happy summer solstace, Jakob you really should come to Sweden and celebrate Midsommar if you get the chance. It's the ultimate Swedish party. :) The typical traditions that occur are some of(or all of following): Dance around the "Midsommarstång" or "Maypole" singing songs such as "Små Grodorna", drinking alcohol, eating lots of food, staying up all night, nakedbathing and sauna. And i believe there is a reason why most babies in Sweden are born in March. ;) And just having a good time with family and friends. Now if this is'nt pagan, i don't know what is. We also have alot of old traditional rituals(or as people call them "games") that we still do, which i'm glad for. P.S. The movie Midsommar is not accurate, so you would be safe.

N. European Midsummer celebrations and the traditions and customs attached to them are a product of both their Catholic and Pagan past, something a number of people are still not comfortable with within these countries.

I literally giggle so much every time i think how some midsummer celebrations (in my country) include running around a field three times naked saying spells or picking seven flowers in certain ritual or collecting the midsummer morning dew etc. and some people still insist yes yes it's for celebrating St. John.😂

@@Kanelipullla It is interesting how most people are under the impression that when Christianity did become more dominant in northern and eastern Europe that all of the previous customs and traditions were wiped out and replaced, which couldn't be further from the truth. In reality, they were at the most, merely repurposed.

Hey Jacob! How do you feel about Disney trying to trademark the Norse Gods names? Why are they doing that imagine what would happen if they tried to trademark Jesus?

This story from what I can tell is another example of a something that is blown out of proportion. Everything I have been able to find is that Loki in Norse Mythology is public domain. Meaning you cannot own it. Marvel seeks to own the trademark to Loki in Marvel movies and tv shows. Meaning you cannot make money off of Marvel's version of Loki. The only problem is that when things are taken down that use Loki, or any other God that may be trademarked, is that the people taking them down don't realize a difference exists between the two. That being Marvel Loki, and God Loki. Disney is doing exactly what any company would do with a multi million dollar franchise. All we can do is be educated what the difference between these types of trademarks are. It is a long and annoying process to dispute a trademark, but as norse pagans, and those who speak on Norse Mythology we will always be legally in the right as long as we are not referring to Marvel's Loki. But truly this is being over-hyped, and blown out of proportion by the social media world.
