Lol yeah, the US has many bases in Japan and Germany. If you look at us bases and their locations in the world, you can clearly see them sort of form lines surrounding Washington's enemies, now I wont defend Russia or China and their domestic and foreign policy, but any country building military bases around your country, where their politicians float the idea of war around has got to be pretty stressful.

I was in the Air Force, stationed near Frankfurt, late ‘60’s - early ‘70’s, lived on the economy - various towns and villages, had good German friends, a German wife… her family…warm and loving. Her grandmother had a little Gasthaus cafe in her tiny town; but as I reflect on the attitude of the populace, they were generally cowered into polite obeisance when engaging Americans. (almost fearful.) A dangerous BEAST was in their midst. US!!!. 20 years after the war and a kind of shell shock remained. Beyond words: Shameful.

Dershowitz says that after Hamas is defeated Israel will rebuild Gaza and it will be like Germany was rebuilt. Only problem is that France didn’t settle 700,000 French on German soil after WW2 and then say OK now you can have what’s left take it or leave it. Also there was no 50+ years of occupation.

Interesting to hear Dershowitz allude to the Marshall Plan here, considering that Secretary of State George Marshall fought an ultimately losing battle within the Truman administration in opposition to the formation of the present-day Israeli state. Marshall had no particular axe to grind in terms of religion/politics, but he was a pragmatist, and saw no realistic scenario for long-term stability.

The idea that USA would have a Marshall plan with Palestine in the absence of Hamas is disingenuous because: a) if they wanted to they would have done so in the decades leading up to Hamas' rise to power in Gaza. b) They would have done so in the West Bank in the decades since Hamas' rise to power.

I've never seen Norman get called out for misquoting a person or fact.

Perhaps if Netanjahu wouldn't have supported the Hamas the way he did - partly through founding by Doha - with millions upon millions of dollars per year there might not have been only the Hamas in Gaza! There would have opposition to the Hamas.
