Of course not. As a matter of fact, I find most of his work pretty cool : When they were released, Harsh Times and Street Kings made quite an impression on the die hard fan of The Shield that I was, Fury is a visually very impressive war movie, and I even liked what he tried to do with End of Watch. BUT... he directed Suicide Squad... which is one of the worst superhero movies of the 21st century, and one of the worst Hollywood blockbuster I've seen in a while. And aside from Ayer, Will Smith has worked with dudes like Michael Mann... you know... Peter Berg... Shyamalan... Redford... uuuuuh... wait. Okay, sorry, my bad, David Ayer indeed IS one of the bests he's worked with. I just forgot how much Smith's filmography sucks. Mann is the only "real deal" in the list.
