By far the best Captain is the guy in the little Boston Whaler . Have seen him dozens of times on this channel and hands down he knows how and where to steer his boat .

My hubs got his first boat at age 12...he was what you called a "shore boy". He learned early on to respect, read, and understand the power of the ocean. He could dock our boat in the strongest wind/tide...with understanding and ease. I was never fearful when he was at 😮the helm. He was also an early surfer...early 60's...no surf shops then...bought his first board in a sporting goods store in Newark. His father said that as a young man he rode the waves on an ironing board.

2:14 thats how you do it. With planing hulls you have no stability at displacement speeds, you cant just take it slowly in a boat that size in those conditions. Hull is gonna take a bit of beating but its no problem if the boat is built well and you dont do that too often. See how straight that boat tracked, it was on the plane so it had stability

If you are running quad 250s on a 40-foot boat, you shouldn’t have any problem going through the inlet - either in or out, but some of these guys just bottom out. Kudos to the one passenger at the front of the NorTech that was coming in. He bounced at least a foot off his seat and didn’t spill his drink - EITHER TIME! DUDE - that is some serious dedication.

OK I need the understanding. When y'all say the boat was stuffed, do you mean the nose got stuffed into the water or the water got stuffed into the bow. I think it's the former. Please someone settle this for me? LOL (for clarity, i'm thinking about those bows that have seating built in)

100% wrong. Waves this size must be taken head-on. Otherwise the wave will catch and knock the hull sideways which usually ends up with a capsize, in this short steep wave at Haulover.

Please, can anyone tell me why do these skippers always go out straight through the middle of haulover. If you look at these first boat, just as he clears the end of the rock wall, very calm water on his port side, (left side), but still powers on through the middle where it's always the roughest, why. Checkout the Seavee with the tuna tower, 6:30 coming in close to the rock wall, but not too close, where it's the calmest. Then I watched the last boat Law Enforcement go out, and doing exactly what I just said.
