    Omg a reactor who actually thinks about how these lyrics can also be self reflective. Kudos to you man. Cuz same w/Black Swan. BTS lyrics really can be interpreted in many ways but many reactors who dont know BTS' & ARMYs story doesnt even stop to think that many of the "love" songs BTS write or perform tend to have an introspective message in their lyrics. Honestly I would have to say very few songs any of the members release either solo or as a group (other than covers) are actually surface level or just basic lyrics.

  • @EmmieUniverse

    @EmmieUniverse

    Ikr I was pleasantly surprised that he thought of them being self reflective. It can literally be anything, bts almost never writes with a specific someone in mind and even when they say things like 'girl' in their lyrics, it's mostly stylish and could also imply 'friend'

    @EmmieUniverse Think about 21st Century Girl it was written as a feminine positive song & I know War of Harmone got the backlash it did but I agree w/what one reactor once said, the lyrics are actually full of compliments to the female species for being so alluring that they deserve praise & attention in a positive way. Plus we must remember the guys especially JK were actually experiencing actually war of hormones as they were still entering maturity. Shoot JK was 18 when they did War of Harmone & in Korea Coming of Age happens at 20 so 🤷‍♀️. Also I dare anyone to sit down & read through EVERY BTS lyric & find where they called a female a Bitch, Hoe, Whore, Sult, or other derogatory term. The only ppl they use have called a Bitch or bad name like Fkr are Haters or those who have attacked BTS or ARMY & even then you have nvr heard them actually call someone out by name. They live by the old saying "If the lyrics fit then maybe you should reflect on yourself."

    6:56 funfact- that "save me" if inverted, reads "I'm Fine" which basically is hinting the next song in their web like discography. Do u see that level of intelligence?? Not only the most unique n strongest lyricism, their music vids possess hell of a symbolism. Its like a whole damn storyline that keeps the songs in their discography interconnected like a huge n complex web. Thats why I usually recommend reactors to kindly start in chronological order if they wanna double the fun of this BTS journey. And also try to check out explanation vids by ARMYs for a particular MV wherever possible. It has been 5 yrs since I brcame an ARMY but I still feel overwhelm with the artistry of this grp. The world never witnessed such refined artistry ever n will never see in yrs. The fame, love n recognition they get, is undisputable n totally deserving!! Truly, one of a kind!!!☝🏻💜👑

    You're right about the all around experience. One of my favorite things about Fake Love is in the choreography you can see them repeat certain motifs. In the chorus, they mimic marionettes on strings (and there's a moment where they "collapse" like the strings have been cut). They also repeat covering the eyes, ears and mouth - see no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil (and you can see that motif in the sculpture like painting in the MV) signifying running and hiding from the truth. The whole love yourself series of albums does a beautiful job of illustrating the journey to loving yourself - from building a castle out of sand, realizing that it's fake, and where do you go once you've had that realization - all in a 3 part album series

    You’ve just barely scratched the surface. But god what a thing it is to be able to experience BTS for the first time. I’m always jealous of you reactors discovering BTS for the first time because I want to be able to do it again. But I try to live vicariously through you. Also, I really appreciate you reading lyrics and giving it the due attention. Lyrics are the heart and soul of BTS’ music. Songwriters and lyricists like RM, Suga and J-hope are stuff from the legends. RM is a straight up poet. BTS have pioneered and normalised a lot of things that other groups are now following widely. They’ve paved the way for other groups to walk on. Fake love is an excellent song. You should do Blood, sweat and tears next and prepare to be blown away! The thing with BTS is that they’ll surprise you with every song. In a discography of more than 300 something songs, they barely repeat genres. And then there’s the matter of BTS members’ solo music. 😀 Let’s just say, welcome to the rabbit hole. Subscribed and will be back for more BTS reactions. 💜

    You said it, they are visionaries and their artistry is like no others. You will be blown away if you ever get into the Bangtan Universe, a fictional story that runs through multiple BTS albums, written notes in albums as clues, and music trailers and videos and even cinema quality Short Films. With BTS there is a surface layer, good music and good visuals but if you dig deeper, there are 100 more layers and Fake Love is part of the layering. BTS music is written in trilogies around a theme they choose and are experiencing currently. The Bangtan Universe was created around their journey from youth to adulthood through the Most Beautiful Moment in Life, Wings and Love Yourself album series. Beautiful, raw, emotional and often poetic lyrics. When you witness their journey, from the bottom to the top, understand the hatred they dealt with in coming up, and seeing how they dealt with it, their incredible speeches and lives sharing their vulnerability with others and through their music, their story is a highly inspirational one to push ourselves forward and be the best version of ourselves.

    There are many talented groups out there and yes, they can make hits. Most KPop songs are cutesy, boy-meets-girl and breakup topics. However, BTS were the ones who came out with songs with deep lyrics tackling sensitive issues like depression, emotional trauma, societal issues, etc. I believe this is what set them apart aside from the ridiculously beautiful melodies, choreographies and MV production values. And of course, their live performances were insane. You should watch their MAMA performances!

    When I think of this particular song I think about the fact that just before this album they where seriously thinking about disbanding. It is my own little opinion that the song is a statement on the KPop industry itself and what it means to become a Loop idol. Often these young people are expected to hide their true selves in order to "mold a pretty lie for their fans." And literally become like dolls that fans can project their own fantasies on. There is even a great deal of symbolism in the choreography in which they move like marionettes on strings. Truly poetic and genius. I love how raw, vulnerable and truly brave this song is.

    Fake Love is such a good song! I love BTS because they write about real stuff. A lot of pop music nowadays is so empty but with BTS you can always tell their music is coming from a place of sincerity and truth. That's why it resonates with so many people and they have such a huge following. That's also why it's so hard for me to see people put them down or discredit them because they're a "boy band" or a "manufactured kpop group." Like if you take time to actually read the lyrics and listen to what they're trying to say in each song, it's obvious that there's a lot of thought and honesty behind it. "If you listen to BTS' music without prejudice, you'll like it." - Suga from BTS

  • @Raynstor.m
    @Raynstor.mАй бұрын

    RM the leader of BTS said their lyrics are poetry set to music. Their honest lyrics are what sets them apart from all the other group. Even if they get lyrics from other writers BTS will change the lyrics to reflect their own experiences. Mostly the 3 rappers (RM, Suga & Jhope) are credited for writing the lyrics for the group. But the vocal line also write lyrics and do a great job at portraying their feelings. RM has an IQ of 148 is into art and reading and his lyrics are more poetic, philosophical and uses a lot of incredible word play. Suga lyrics are very raw and to the point. He says what he means and doesn’t sugar coat them. He is constantly writing lyrics in his notebooks. Jhope’s lyrics are emotional and rhythmically pleasing like the way he dances. All three of the rappers have a different style and sound lyrically & vocally. Their voices are so different. In fact all the members of BTS vocals are so different from each that when they harmonize with each their voices become another voice. They use their voices like musical instruments. They remind of all the great music from the 80s and 90s. I had actually stopped listening to music in the early 2000s because it all started sounding the same. It was like everyone was using a recipe to write songs and there was no originality or meaning in the lyrics. Even the beats were the same. They were all starting to cover classic songs and calling it their own and their versions were not as good as the originals. In 2017 I was doing a google search for a TV show called Drop the Mic. It’s where celebrities would battle rap to see who had the best bars. Well at the top of my search window was a music video called Mic Drop. I clicked on it and absolutely loved it. It reminded me of the music from the 90s but it was different. The beats the flows and I loved how they were mixing singing and rapping like Linkin Park but also how they were mixing Korean and English. Loved, loved, loved it. I had no clue at the time who BTS was and wanted to know more about them and if they had more music like that. I only wish I would’ve known them from when they debut in 2013 so I could have been there for their entire journey. What I love about BTS is none of their music sounds alike. They are really good at blending multiple genres in one song. They are truly amazing artists and their behind the scenes teams are just as incredible. I like some songs from other artists but not many but I haven’t found a BTS song I didn’t like. My BTS playlist has over 300 songs on it. 😉 If you do decide to watch Jhope at Lallapalooza you will need to split it into at least 2 videos or it will get blocked. Same if you decide to review albums you have to split them up. Not sure if anyone mentioned to you that KPop is not a genre like western media makes you think it is, it is an industry. Korean music has the same genres of music the western market has. They have Rap, R&B, Metal, Rock, Pop, Ballads, etc. BTS is their own genre of music because they do not stick to one type instead the blend multiple types. If you want to see some rock and metal check out the Grandfather of KPop Seo Taiji and the Boys they are the first generation of KPop. Taiji studied in the US and fell in love with the music here and wanted to bring that back to Korea. 😉 Good luck on your KPop journey. I look forward to watching your BTS reviews. Borahae 💜🫰

    Couple of comments about Fake Love: One interpretation can be relationship between an Idol(performer) and his fandom. "I feel so loved by you, but I'm twisting myself into someone I'm not". Probably all performers feel a version of this. There is a lot of pressure in S.Korea for Idols to be perfect role models for young people. No cussing, no tattoos visible, no smoking, and crazily enough, no dating. They've been doing this 10 years and have grown up. Most k-pop groups don't last this long, so there is no role model for it. In Suga (August D's) Haegum, he addresses the need to break out of some of the crazy restrictions on S. Korean artists and intentionally smokes, etc. Another interpretation is related to the scenes with V in a tunnel lit with cell phones. I think this refers to social media and how some people measure whether they are loved by likes and followers. Couldn't this be fake love? All of the interpretations center around the individual struggling to be authentic and real in his relationships, whether personal or public.

    As you point out, it is poetry. You got it right, BTS songs can be applied to various situations (partner, family, friends, self...), they really have songs that are very worthwhile for the message they offer. One of the most repeated messages is to love oneself, we know that it is the basis for really being able to love others. They also talk about mental health. If we talk about fake love we can comment on when we forget who we really are just to pretend to be like someone else likes and accepts us; when in the MV the cell phone disintegrates I think about how in social networks people make it seem that their life and personality is different and with it they interact with others. RM once mentioned that with the help of ARMY's messages, letters, etc. he managed to love himself for what he offered himself and also BTS and his songs so that others could manage to love themselves. You mentioned that you like it when an artist lets himself be seen as vulnerable, because you came to a band that is not afraid of it because BTS and ARMY have grown up and have supported each other. I don't think you know it yet, but BTS songs have made millions of people of all ages have been able to overcome problems, they have prevented suicides. I would love that you will react to songs from his early years like: Boy in luv (not to be confused with Boy with luv), Danger, Dope and War of hormone.

My music history is rock, alternative rock, and indie so this is way out of the norm for me but I love it. My other favorite korean artists are stray kids, ateez, taemin, some of TXT, and the Rose. Mammamoo is good too. But the only group I follow all the members is BTS. Keep doing BTS and all the solo work. You won't regret it. The range of genres they cover is insane. You will continually be surprised. In addition, check our Ateez: halazia, this world, wonderland don't stop, treasure, crazy form Stray kids: lonely st., hall of fame, beware, district 9, heyday, taste, venom, maniac, thunderous, red lights, and so many more Taemin: guilty, the rizzness, heaven, advice, black rose, want, move, blue TxT: loser =lover, growing pain, opening sequence, Frost Xdinary heroes: happy death day, test,

    BTS is beloved by fans for their deep lyrics and artistry. They deeply care about details and making meaningful music and if its not up to their quality and they dont agree on it they dont do it. They are all involved to some degree in this. Even the choreography with much of it being dont to mimic being a marionette on strings being manipulated (by others by yourself) and using alot referecing see no evil hear no evil speak no evil. This has imagery tying into an ongoing story line across many (but not all) of their MVs the Bangtan Universe (BU). All the things like the water, fire, snickers tie into ongoing story lines each member has for their character they play/story in the BU. It can get confusing, ok its SUPER confusing and one of the most ambitious artistic story telling arcs I've seen. Its also not linear so if you get confused on your journey you might have stumbled into the BU. Enjoy your journey I recommend Blood Sweat and Tears next!

    “I love seeing when artists aren’t afraid to come out and be vulnerable like this” Well then BTS are the perfect artists for you! (Even them as soloists as well) They are known for going deep, being introspective , talking about topics like mental health, relationships between people and even your own relationship with yourself, fighting against societal norms/expectations and much much more! And they don’t just sing about these things to pretend to be relatable, the members always talk openly about their own emotions/difficulties and their lives as celebrities. the good,the bad, and the ugly. They are not afraid to get real and honest!

Alot of reactors hear ARMY ask them to read the lyrics and then they stop appreciating the visuals and sound because their so obsessed with lyric theories. You can understand the depth of words as they are without trying to assign your own take to them.

    RM is the poet genius behind most of their songs. This MV has tons of 'Easter eggs' that relate to the Bangtan Universe (BU). It's a fictional storyline that runs through about 30 of their MVs, in their webtoon, notes that come in some of their albums, and other resources. It's a whole world unto itself! It's designed to make us ponder and question how we live our lives, and what we could do to make a better world, one person at a time. Yes, you've unlocked a genre called "Bangtan Soyeondan!" They are uber-special, for sure. With their extensive discography, you could stay busy for a long time and never get bored. I'm so happy you're enjoying them. RM is a genius lyricist and Suga is a fantastic producer. J-Hope and Jimin can dance like swans and break like no ones business it makes them so special. When you add the tenor of Jungkook and Jin, the high tenor of Jimin, and the baritone of V it makes their music beyond other music. Fake Love is a song written as part of an arc of music they produced. It started with "I Need You" and really hasn't ended. They made fictional charcters for each of these members and this song shows those members dealing with their daily life within that fictional story. That is why that song is so emotional, it portrays their story and how they realize that they need to love themselves before they can love anyone else. This group given the musical world a new genre of music. One that uplifts and tells a story and gives hope in the midst of despair.

    bts are true artists. fake love is part of the "love yourself" trilogy of albums and the songs tell a story about the general theme of love, everything is interconnected. they divide the themes of the albums into eras. In the hyyh era they created the bts universe (BU), which tells a fictional story through MVs and has a lot of content to analyze. the wings era is also incredible, based on the book "demian". I think you will like "dionysus", there is no MV, only live performance. It's inspired from the greek god.

    I think you nailed it. BTS is special because their music means something. It's powerful. It's emotional. It's passionate. It touches your soul. Add the fact that they contribute to 90%+ of their song writing....writing about their actual thoughts and feelings and things they're going through, having an amazing rags to riches story, being super humble, intelligent people who are influential, caring, loving, super hard working, and always giving it their 200%....i don't know what's not to like about them. You will often hear people say that they only like BTS and not kpop...there is a difference as much as people hate to admit it. and you will soon find out why if you keep going down this bts/kpop rabbit hole. This song is not just about a relationship between a man and a woman. It's about the love you have for yourself. The fake love you have for yourself. Because you want to be some kind of way...and you keep changing yourself to be that person, but you kind of lose who you actually are in that process. In BTS's new book, they also mentioned that when they were writing this song, they were going through some hard times. They didn't want their fans to worry, so they always put a smile on, hid their feelings from the fans. But they got more and more popular and the fandom kept growing. So they were questioning is it real love that the fans have for them if the fans aren't seeing the real them, but a version of themselves that put on a mask and step on stage. These are really deep thoughts and very vulnerable (like you said). I wasn't used to listening to pop songs with these deep messages. It took me some time to get used to it and start trying to interpret what they're saying. In the past when the music i listened to was all about who had the bigger house, nicer cars, more women, etc etc...there was no need to dissect lyrics. but now i do. and it's honestly set a standard to what i listen to now-a-days. many songs/artists just don't cut it for me anymore. If you think these official mvs are good, you should react to them live. their live performances are next level. the passion, emotions, energy is exponentially stronger. Hope you continue down this BTS rabbit hole. You will become a better version of yourself.

    RM is a poet lyricist. Suga is a renowned international producer(including for American artists), J-Hope is very involved in BTS’s choreography, is Dance Leader, songwriter, and melodic rapper. Jin came to BTS as “the visual”. He learned how to dance and sing as a trainee. He’s now know as ‘the silver voice.” Jimin is an incredible contemporary dancer (very unusual in K-pop) and has a beautiful uniquely high singing voice. V’s love of jazz and r&b is on another level and his solo album reflects that (He wrote the songs). JK is a naturally talented guy - rap, dance, sing, draw, athletics (track, boxing, taekwondo), has perfect pitch (per Charlie Puth and others). This is a group that do not fit the “boy band” or “k-pop” label. Their former CEO did not force a rigid structure for them, but, instead, told them to just tell their stories, which they have.

    That song has many levels and meanings. First off, it can be seen as a love song, Second it is part of the BU (Bangtan Universe) and third, it also describes the precarious almost para-social relationship between the band and the fans. They made themselves into dolls to be loved by us. The song is from LOVE YOURSELF: Tear - and in 2018 they thought about disbanding. Tear can be the tears you cry but also the tear that rips you apart. Oh and the whole mask thing already foreshadows their Map Of The Soul series. RM wrote the lyrics and he is poet, the word smith. Next songs ... Blood Sweat And Tears, Spring Day and Magic Shop (live)

    BTS are indeed unlike any other band. Their songs do have deep meanings & cover many genres. They are MULTI-TALENTED, yet remain humble. They also have a deep love for their fans(ARMY) & never forget them. That's why they prepare special gifts for ARMY on & around their anniversary, June 12th. BTS FESTA ROOM LIVE 2021 is really good. In Fake Love did you notice the writing on the mirror? It's an ambigram which reads Save Me & I'm Fine which are both names of BTS songs. Save Me is one of my faves, & the making of video is good too. Always pause a sec at the end of their videos because just when you think they're over they're not, & many link to others. Please go down the BTS rabbit hole. You will never regret it! Thank you!

    I love how you get the lyrics immediately, that this is about changing yourself to be loved by others, and that this can apply to any kind of relationship. This song is part of the album "Love Yourself: Tear", which in turn is part of the Love Yourself trilogy. The first album, LY: Her, talks about the joy of falling in love. LY: Tear talks about when love goes wrong. LY: Answer is the realization that in order to love others, you have to love yourself first. "Fake Love" and its album was written when BTS was struggling with success. Their fame skyrocketed in the West in 2017-8 and the pressure of having to keep performing at the highest level left them overworked and exhausted, to the point that they considered disbanding. Amidst all this struggle, they still put on a brave face for their fans. So this disconnect between what they were really going through and what they presented in public led to these lyrics. I think you've touched upon two of the main reasons they are so popular. Their powerful lyrics and message, and the diversity in their music. And if you delve into their solo work, you'll find that these men are equally talented, and yet very different from each other.

    I want to draw your attention to a couple of things in the music video. First of all the choreography that represents “See no evil. Hear no evil. Speak no evil.” Secondly each member (except Jungkook) is in a room that represents the childhood trauma of that member’s character in the fictional storyline that runs through BTS’s albums. (Called the BTS Universe or BU). For example, J-Hope character was abandoned at an amusement park as a child after his mother gave him a candy bar and told him to wait for her. So the pile of Snickers bars that J-Hope is lying on represents his mother’s fake love. Most Importantly, The flower in the lamp at the beginning represents the Fake Love. Jin tries to protect it, but it turns to ash despite his efforts. In the middle of the video Jungkook finds the empty lamp on a pile of ashes, and as they fall through his fingers you see the shadow of the flower petals floating away. This represents letting go of the fake love. Once he does this the door opens in the waterfall and Jungkook walks through to face a masked figure. In a supplementary video we learn that this is Jungkook himself, and only after he is willing to let go of the fake love can he see his real self beneath the mask he has been wearing.

    BTS just hits differently because they're not afraid to try new stuff and don't lock themselves into what sells well and know how to do. They're creative in all aspects of their art and work with like-minded people. They also really pour themselves into their music and their fans like no other to create something meaningful. They have a plethora of songs dedicated to ARMY. Like Magic Shop, We Are Bulletproof: the Eternal or Mikrokosmos They don't brag much but when they do they can marginally back it up and it's always following critics. This song is a masterpiece. The song itself is great but the message and the MV hit hard. The MV is also linked to their storyline. And this song is part of the Love Yourself trilogy. LY: Her - which talks about perfect love that makes you feel like it's all destiny. LY: Tear - which talks about the downfall of relationships and how it can tear you apart. LY: Answer - which talks about the fact that you need to learn to love yourself to reach happiness and don't need anyone but yourself Fake Love is part of LY: Tear. Choosing a single favorite song is impossible, imo. They have very few songs that I'm not a fan of - even as solo artists. My personal favorites are: - Magic Shop - Baepsae/Silver Spoon - I Need U (official ver.) - IDOL - Fire - Mikrokosmos - Intro: Persona (RM) - Epiphany (Jin) - Interlude: Shadow (SUGA) - MAMA (j-hope) - Serendipity (Jimin) - Inner Child (V) - Begin (Jung Kook)
