From his rookie year till he hurt his wrist he was a first ballot hall of Famer, and up until 2004 he was at hall of fame trajectory but he was never the same between the wrist and some Achilles injury and still a sox legend and class act !

The Achilles injury hurt Nomar more than the wrist injury.
Best hitting shortstop I ever saw!! Die hard yankees and jeter fan but Nomar was amazing at the plate! That 2000 season my god, never seen a right handed hitter that locked in!
Nomar, Pedro, manny, big Papi. The Red Sox roster of my childhood was amazing.

Same, born in 85, do you remember I think it was 2000, the year when all of the pictures names ended in o, they made jokes about nomo, cone, Pedro, a rojo and I think I could get who else but that was the year I believe no more through the no-hitter and nessen was constantly playing that "no no no, no no na no'"lol I remember Ramiro Mendoza and David Cohen being so bad, along with David Wells then I thought the Yankees sent them here to spy on us.
I went to the game where he spoke at the very end of this clip just because I heard he was gonna be there. My childhood hero and the hero of many kids throughout New England in the late 90s and early 00s.
I was 5 years old when I started getting heavily into baseball. Nomar Garciaparra was my first favorite player. Till this day, he's my all time favorite. Go Sox
Never will Nomar Garciaparra be Forgotten in Beantown!
I grew up in Los Angeles. But Nomar Garciaparra (a local) was and is my favorite player of my lifetime. Hardcore Dodger fan but every year I rooted for the Sox come playoffs. When we got him in 2006 I have never been happier. A shame we couldn't get it together when he led that incredible offense in '06, 4-20+ homer lineup. Hope all my fellow "NOMAAAH" lovers make it through this so we can see if we ever get to see another shortstop as skilled and as talented as he was. Best shortstop ever!

@@angelomendez6316 Yeah but he wasn't really a part of those rosters, 2006 dude was leading the NL in BA up until the All Star Break. Furcal, Kent, Drew around his 3 spot Then Maddux, Anderson and Betemit provided the final push to make the 2006 Dodgers as versatile as we were that decade. They just collapsed in the Mets series.... After that 4 home run into an extra inning walkoff game to pass the Padres. They had all the momentum going into October. 2008 was Manny tearing up, Loney, Ethier & Kemp developing. He was already gone in 2009.
He was an absolute superstar and better shortstop in the late 90s than jeter. His wrist injury totally changed everything.

That and turning down 4 years 60 million to try and score more on market and struggled with Achilles I think till they got orlando Cabrera

I think the people who didn't see him play don't realize how good Nomar was.
Back in the day he was always on my team in Backyard Baseball (the computer game) He will always be one of my favorite players.

Nomar, my favorite player ever.
It's a shame his career was cut short by injuries. He was a nice guy, a special hitter, and his years in a Sox uniform were outstanding.
Nomar forever.
nomar’s heart & soul of redsox. he’s a hero forever in my heart.
Nomar easily was better than Jeter in their primes.
Favorite baseball player. Got me in baseball
Hit for amazing contact and moderate power. Not to mention he is HARD to strikeout. Incredible defense too. Was on the way to become an all time great. Shame but don’t be sad it was over quick. Just be happy we was able to witness his greatness he had for those seasons in Boston.
My all time favorite. Grew up in MA watching this guy play. He was a sure fire HOFer before 2004. Great guy. Just couldn’t stay healthy. He was the beginning of the Sox resurgence. 99’ and 03’ teams were memorable. Makes you wonder had he stayed could he have prolonged his career maybe 3-4 more 02’-03’ type seasons, maybe had a chance at the Hall? He wasn’t the same after he left. I remember his 00’ season, hitting .372. Thought he’d be the guy to get that elusive .400. Wrist and Achilles did him in. Thanks for the memories Nomah!
He's my favorite player all-time in my decades of baseball fandom
Nomar would've been remembered differently had he won in boston. Easily the best rookie season in Red Sox history besides Yaz and Fred Lynn

The fact he never won mvp still amazes me he batted 372 one year in 140 games and didn't win mvp ok
@Il_Exile_lI

The steroid era was bonkers. That year Manny hit .351 with 38 HR (with CLE), Carlos Delgado hit .344 with 41 HR. The MVP winner was Jason Giambi with .333/.476/.647 with 43 HR. Also, don't forget in the NL Todd Helton hit .372 with 42, Vlad Guerrero hit .345 with 44 HR and Moises Alou finished 20th in MVP voting with .355 and 30 HR. Offense was absolutely ridiculous at the time. When 10 guys per league are putting up numbers that would MVP worthy in other eras, a lot of guys with crazy seasons aren't going to win it.

I was sitting on leftfeid side seats, when Nomar hit his first c areer HR. What a thrill as a REDSOX fan..
he 's my favorite player
You won in the 1918 pandemic. Don’t give up the pandemic winning streak!
We need a defensive highlight video!
And this is why I’m happy I have his signature
Great player!
Nomar Garciaparra was much better than Manny Ramírez and Big Papi
Real baseball ⚾️😎 player ...from beginning, til end #excellence
Nomar>Jeter Injuries derailed this guy and I will die on this hill
This guys career was like a shooting star. Went by so quickly. Theo had balls of steel to trade him but it worked out for the best. For any long time sox fan 2004 was magic. The fact that they won 3 more world championships after then is bananas. Think of all the fans that died during the 86 year drought. The Sox can never win another championship and I’m still satisfied.
Memories!
He had mvp numbers for 7 years. Never got respect for those rewards when he was batting 340 plus
This is my favorite player
Might wanna fix the typo that says he has 69 career RBI’s with the Sox lol. It should be 690.
It really is too bad about taking that ONE pitch in the wrist, in the middle of a wonderful career, ended it. Think about how many times from a little kid through school college minor league and like 8-10 years in the bigs, how many times u get hbp and u just get a lump and a bruise. I remember all these moments fondly and love you Nomar

Blood Related to Nomar GarciaParra! My mother was Dr. Josefa Parra Levin! My name is Alexander Gregory Levin! Stay in touch!
Always remember back in the late '90s and early 2000s ESPN would always show Jeter, nomar, and A-Rod, and call them the three future Hall of famers. There were times when nomar's numbers looked better than both of the other guys, he was the best pure hitter, a dead first strike swinger who was just trying to put the ball in play. Several times his average crept up there around 400 for a lot of the season and we really thought he was going to break the record. But injuries he started having were ashamed, people claim that when he left Boston he started taking that Mexican gas to try and get stronger and then played first base and started getting injured and it was all over. Those were the good old days, I remember in 2004 being bummed when he got traded although we still liked Orlando Cabrera. It ended up being the right move, I wonder if no more kept his world series ring or not.
