Noam Chomsky: Looking Back on 9/11 a Decade Later. Part 1 of 2

DemocracyNow.org - Ten years ago, at a time when lawmakers from both sides of the isle joined together to authorize endless war, Noam Chomsky's was the leading voice to call for the United States to take a look in the mirror - for a re-thinking of U.S. actions in the Middle East and across the globe. His 2001 book simply titled "9-11" became a surprise bestseller. The book collected a series of interviews Chomsky had given on the roots of the 9/11 attacks and his prescription for a just response. Ten years later, Chomsky has just released an updated version titled, "9-11: Was There An Alternative?," which refers to the U.S. assassination of Osama bin Laden and the continuity Chomsky sees between the Bush administration's foreign policy and President Obama's. "Right at this moment, Obama has succeeded in descending even below George W. Bush in approval in the Arab world," says Noam Chomsky on Democracy Now! Sept. 13. "The policies change, but they are hostile. We should understand where atrocities come from. They do not come from nowhere. If we're serious, we should try to do something about what is the basis for them."

Harry Johnson If there is a smoking gun, it's the fact that building 7 did go down the way it did! Building 7 was battered by two humongous buildings and took all day to collapse. The twin towers were hit by planes, but they collapsed in mere hours. If there's a smoking gun, it's that the entire world saw how long and how much force it should take to actually collapse a steel frame building right next to an example of something that has never happened before. But I'm no physicist, or architect, or even a scientist. I was just a dumb kid who was told he was smart, so now thinks he can ascertain whether or not a building collapse was a premeditated, internal conspiracy or an act of retribution by a an angry group of men from the Middle East. I cannot, because I am no expert. What I can do is realize the consequences of such grandiosity and greed, and know that America needs to change. I know that we need to get out of the Middle East and do away with our incomprehensible arrogance. "I know".

Thomas Paine Scientists have spent years specializing in their specific fields. The good one gets cited and published. It's those scientists that remain utilized by INTERNATIONAL entities worldwide. If even one of them found something suspicious, there would be an INTERNATIONAL revolt against America. Not a slow and steady one, but a quick and, well, revolting one. The only "scientists" proclaiming their "vast" knowledge of physics regarding the attacks of September 11th as some sort of vague, logically fallacious appeal to authority, are the ones whom never get cited by other, credible scientists; they're the ones who have no credible income, so they must resort to the cockamamie, imagined schemes. The worst part is many of them believe it, as they lack a real understanding of physics. Hence, their delusional beliefs. You will now experience an incredible amount of anxiety and perhaps anger if you read what I wrote. This is normal. It is referred to as cognitive dissonance, but really, you're brain is telling you to ignore that which interferes with your reality. Our brains are stupid. Ignore them. Embrace the real reality, and you may let go of fear. And trust me, there's plenty to be pissed off about without having to resort to wild conspiracies. Take a breath. Join in a cause. Fight to end corruption. Support a candidate you truly believe in. I don't just mean a candidate who's running for President, but any and all candidates running for public office. We have to take our country back. We can do this peacefully. Our battles are waged a very different way in the modern world. All we must do is take action. Do something.

Joshua Sanders , "Scientists have spent years specializing in their specific fields. The good one gets cited and published." In Ideal world this would be the truth due to basic principles of science. On the other hand, by embracing the real reality one has to realize that scientifical research and science community overall are influenced by the entities who fund them. Unfortunately science is not completely funded by itself so external power structures always coincide with scientifical reasearch. Going back to late 2001, how many universities even considered publishing anything that would contradict with the official story if doing so would have labelled them as "antigovermental"? By asking this purely speculative question I`m just trying to show that science community is facing a more complex reality than science as a methotology is. You encourage people to "fight to end corruption" yet it seems to me you let yourself to naively believe that whatever is said in the holy name of science can not be corrupted. In my opinion you are not in a position to suggest anything about those scientists and experts who disagree with the official story. It is possible some of them are delusional and simply wrong but you have no grounds to claim that many one of them are delusional unless you groundlessly assume that science is independent of the power structure of society, especially independent of interests of those who fund it. Instead of psychologizing those who might no see eye to eye with you, I warmly recommend you to question your own belief system. Then you do not need to ignore reality anymore and you can let go of your fear.

Jonne Korvamäki all that one has to do is look at history, it has a tendency to repeat itself, and as a cannabis smoker (oh no, he must be a crazy conspiracy theorist) who has done extensive research, it is obvious that yes, the science is so often tainted by the entities that fund them. the US and Britain have been responsible for many more atrocious acts, why this seems to be such a stretch for Noam saddens me!

I agree. ,For example its so bizzare how Compsky totally rejected that 911 was very likely an inside job, when so many firefighter video testimonials say internal BOMBS went off and that obviously suggested it was an inside job. There is so much glaring evidence .Almost no wreckage from any planes , one small turbine found on Pentagon area that is the size of a guided missile , no dents where the engines would be ( the strongest part of a plane), over 400 pilots for justice claim a regular passenger plane cannot even steer at 500mph let alone penetrate a steel building, unless it was heavily ranforced ( by military titanium ) and has a giant specialized explosive bolted underneath ,which has been shown in many close up photos. Plus it was witnessed by so many as being grey and looking like a military plane. I used to be impressed by Chompsky but he must well know that IF JFK could be assassinated , then his brother assassinated , then its also quite realistic 40 years on that the technology and control mechanisms in the shadow government would find it quite effortless to do 911. Corona virus while it is real it is very likely part of yet another creeping domination of the psychopathic leaders and shadow Government , that they are no better than the Mafia /MOB. If I was to guess , they are just the same Mafia MOB that has parasitically penetrated all government around the world. They no longer look like classic bugsy Malone bad guy characters portrayed in the movies, but now they wear suits and run the world. How else could any group Terrorise so many nations without having any guilt unless they are psychopathic.

I do not understand when people have the "controlled demolition" thought process. I saw, certainly did not hear, evidence of controlled demolition. No bursting of explosives throughout any of the buildings, no almost deafening "popping" sounds. FBI, CIA, NTSB, ATF, Fire professionals, all were there at the sites. They saw no evidence of explosives. They are trained in those kinds of events, they would have noticed any evidence of explosives. The towers certainly fell longer than 9 or 10 seconds. These debris and dust cloud from the towers fell quicker. I can see it in every video and pic. The towers began to collapse from the area where each tower buckled, I can see that. Building 7 burned all day long. Building 7 had a huge gash in it. The fire professionals knew that 7 was going to fall, they said so, hours before it did fall. The penthouse on top of building 7 collapses inward a full 7 or 8 seconds before the rest of the building comes down. The windows begin to break when the penthouse collapses. The old man Lucky Larry screwed the pooch because he did not get a pay out to cover the cost of rebuilding. I've found nowhere that the term "pull" is a demolition term except in the case of "pulling" with cables. And wouldn't it be expected to require terrorism insurance on a building that has been attacked by terrorist before? Fire Chief Daniel Nigro: "The biggest decision we had to make on the first day was to clear the area and create a collapse zone around the severely damaged 7 World Trade Center, a 47-story building heavily involved in fire. A number of fire officers and companies assessed the damage to the building. The appraisals indicated that the building's integrity was in serious doubt. I issued the orders to pull back the firefighters and define the collapse zone. It was a critical decision; we could not lose any more firefighters. It took a lot of time to pull everyone out, given the emotionalism of the day, communications difficulties, and the collapse terrain" Firefighter Marcel Klaes: "All morning I was watching 7 World Trade burn." FDNY Lieutenant Robert Larocco - "We walked over by number Seven World Trade Center as it was burning and saw this 40-plus story building with fire on nearly all floors." Firefighter Vincent Massa - "At this point, Seven Wold Trade was going heavy and they weren't letting anybody get too close. Everybody was expecting that to come down." J

@youngbuck189 You then have to listen to others WITH the expertise, use your own reasoning & common sense, verify all that is possible ............ If your conclusion is different to a "legitimate" genius (as you call him ) incapable of making a judgement, It could be a very valid conclusion you arrive at !

i never understand the "they hate our freedoms" bullshit. why would you go thousands of km to a country because you dont like their style of living? why would you even bother? i also dont go to kongo or saudi arabia because i dont like there atrocities and way of living. it makes absolutely no sense. and even if you are extreme you would only do it if there are no other big problems when you can bother about other peoples way of life which doesnt affect you at all

If you agree so much with Chomsky, your post doesn't make sense. If it was a inside job that means that people may rebel, ok? If it was a bunch of terrorist that get in the hi-tech US security with a plastic knife, to admit it would be a shame and dangerous, ok? Since he works for the US army he choses the best option for the government and it is simply not talk about that, deal with that as irrelevant such as he calls the JFK murder...

As usual Chomsky is overly simplistic. Of course the question that is not asked is why do the Arabs and or Muslims not attack Russia? In the last few decades the Russians have supported the Serbs against the Muslims of Kosovo, the Russians had made war in Afghanistan, they had also committed horrible atrocities in Chechnya. Today they support the brutal Assad regime in Syria. Following Chomsky's line of thought, 9/11 should have been carried out in Moscow not New York. What America does represent in the Arab and or Muslim world is gay rights, women's rights and human rights, all rights that do not go down well in the misogynist, homophobic and despotic thinking of the Muslim Brotherhood and their offshoot Al Qeda. Be well.

Aren't we so lucky to have Noam Chomsky to judge the US response to 9/11? After all, who could possibly be better qualified on such an important topic, than a career Linguistics Professor, with ZERO Real World Experience in Government, Military, International Affairs, Foreign Policy, or National Security, and whose criticisms all have the great luxury of exploiting 20/20 Hindsight? This makes perfect sense-Right??? UGH-It is a tragedy that anyone takes this ridiculous old man seriously! SMH

@M CK, it's funny because nutters strut around claiming to have a petition with 3000 whole signatures from professional architects and engineers around the world. Well, I think most of the signatures are from professionals. But here's the thing, in the USA alone, there are one million architects and engineers. M ck, do you know what percentage of 1 million, 3 thousand is? I'll give you a clue. 10 thousand, that would be one percent of the total engineers and architects, just in the USA.
