No Stress Cable Holder for the Apple USB-C Cable

Ғылым және технология

So this is obviously a joke, but the point of the video is to point out that any design has compromises.
Yes - I realized during the design process for the Clean Cable Caddy that there would be a tight radius at the beginning and the end of the cable. I could have increased the radius, but the whole purpose is for the cable organizer to be compact and also look halfway decent. Another option would have been to move the port to the side and put it at an angle towards the middle - this would have made it less symmetric and less aesthetically pleasing in my opinion.
Having the tight radius on the Clean Cable Caddy actually helps keep the cable in place since it creates a slight bind on the cable as it travels through the gap. The bind does not happen near the USB-C connector itself, which is the most common area where the cables typically fail (another aspect that the commenters seem to have ignored).
Every design has compromises - whether that’s a compromise on build quality, material, size, aesthetics, portability, having a headphone jack, or something else, anyone who’s actually designed something before knows that there are always compromises.
With the Clean Cable Caddy, I intentionally decided to make a theoretical sacrifice on the longevity of a $17 cable that’s probably not going to last forever anyway in exchange for having a clean cable management solution. If you don’t want to make that trade off, feel free to use something else.
Or even better, try out the No Stress Cable Holder so you’ll never have to buy another USB-C cable again!
