I mean the ioniq 5 n ev uses pumped in audio (you can turn it off) and also has n e shift thing that simulates 8 speed dct I think,it gives that feel of a gas car just in an ev

Wrong As usual Americans don’t realise there is a World outside their bubble. The new C63 has 680bhp out the box They might bring back the V8 for the North American Market. But unlikely in the ROW as Emissions Requirements are more relevant than making a car for idiots to straight pipe. Only in American do people care about showing off and making noise over performance

I got the gla 45 amg. Turbo 4 and I smoke scatpacks and super sports all the time. Power to weight all day. My 400hp and awd beats 500hp without awd and I'm 800lbs lighter.

@@matthowell8985I have a CLA 45, c63s and E63s. All 3 are different and the 45 is definitely quick but the 4cyl doesn’t have the same feel in terms of torque and power of course. There’s limits to how much you can push a 45 compared to a v8 63.

I think for me going fast is more important than the noise even though I do enjoy noise. If I had to prioritize one it's the bragging rights

Sadly the cle is built on the c class platform unlike the e coupe. So it wont be as nice as a proper e coupe

The best way to protest is to not buy these AMG 4 cylinder cars.

They are just trying to stay ahead of the government regulations. They have to keep the average fuel economy of the cars they sell at a certain level and almost every year that requirement goes up some more. That's why every car company is putting small displacement turbo engines in their cars. Give it a few more years that 4 cyl will be back.

I think the engineers were exiting by current F1 race cars, were a 1,6l V6 is combined with massive EV power. Look at the project 1 car. But I agree, they did not respect the real customer, obviously.

Mercedes back in the day used to do a 7.3 V12 engine that went in a few different models. Then they had the 6.2 V8. This is what made Mercedes stand out from the other manufacturers in a good way. This was part of the Mercedes dna and heritage. Big engines dont have to work as hard and are not as highly strung as smaller engines. This gave Mercedes their own character and charm. Nice smooth gentle acceleration and you would still be moving at pace, no need to floor it, let the engine stretch its legs instead of ringing its neck for every ounce of power 100% of the time. If you want economy there are plenty of other manufacturers (with their souless boring dull cars) to go for.

I'm glad and surprised people didn't cave in and just buy the 4 cylinder version

My question is why even call it a "63" it's almost like mercedes craze of putting fake exhaust tips on the non AMG models.

I have a 4cyl car that I love to bits. It drives great, looks great and is just a very nice car.......but, it's cold start doesn't get my nipples hard like my V8 does. It's like comparing a light shower to Thunder & Lightning V8 4 Life🤘🏾

@@jgripen969 Bland yngre generationer kanske men 190/C-klassens AMG modeller var ju i6 från början. Sen hade du AMG varianter av 300E w124 också i form av E36 AMG. Samma med 123:an innan. De var ju dock mkt diskretare bilar. Inte samma show som idag.

AMG went out of business when they dumped the V8. Maybe no one told them, so it's up to me. Hey, AMG. You're closed. You had a great run, but it ended with the last V8 you made. If Mercedes wants to offer AMG appearance packages, fine. But AMG? You're closed. RIP.

@liberte1700 for real. Plenty of people own non v8 amg. They are all fast. Just like bmw m series, none of them are bad or slow. Good point. People don't have amg and are the experts. I at least own one.

2:12 you nailed it on the head. Cars today are so quick. Going from 4.5sec 0-60 to 3.9sec, isn’t that important. We want nice sounding exhaust.

Yesterday in Stuttgart Germany I have seen a CLE with camouflage and a massive sound. I guess this was a prototype of the incoming CLE 63 with a V8. 😃

100% agree!! There are certain vehicles that should always be offered with V8s or 10s, 12s. This should be the reason why EVs even exist is to allow us to still have a vehicle that we want while the people who don’t care drive pods… Keep up the incredible work Mike!!

I can see how a big drop from a V8 to a 4 cylinder made it difficult for some to see the value in an AMG product. Maybe a V6 would have been fine. Some supercars these days have great sounding V6’s.

Due to the massive iPad on the dash I was on the fence with the Merc but the 4 cyl motor is the deal breaker.

Cle reminds me alot of my clk 550 a mixture of the e class and c class combined.

Mercedes-Benz AMG has become the best ad to convert AMG nuts like me into a BMW M power enthusiasts.

I had a CLE coupe four cylinder 2024 on the test, it has a good engine but no sound, the front seats are the same size as in the C coupe, the rear side windows don't go down, I was very disappointed, they discontinued the C coupe and E coupe and made it again C coupe for double the price, the center console is much too high and the center screen is too big, so it will be too narrow for you Mike because you are a tall person, it is true that the rear seats have a little more space than in the C coupe, the trunk is a little bigger than the C coupe. I own a C coupe 2018 but I won't trade because the rear windows don't go down. Greetings from Europe

100% agree with you! However, I think that the new regulations especially in Europe - They are quite dramatic! So car brands are forced to use hybrid systems or smaller engines, because of the emissions. That being said, I also think that people are not buying purely power and performance. The sound of a classic V8 is pure music... I bought an Mercedes S500 coupe and I have been enjoying V8 every time I drive my car. No electric car can beat this feeling.

The displacement of the next generation of V8 can always be made smaller. That is an option.

Absolutely get the CLE 63 when that comes out (if it has a V8) and do a spec similar to either your first C63 or the S65!

I was at my local Mercedes looking to trade in my current 392 Charger for a CPO S450 or S560 sedan and they saw me checking out the beautiful blue C63 AMG when they gave me a weird look omce I read "Turbo 4" on the window sticker. They then asked if I was interested in that car I told them no. Ill never pay that price for a 4 cyclender car no matter how powerful or fast they are. They told them why I was there.

Lots of these brands get to make V8s based on how many other eco or Ev style cars they make to average out the fuel consumption. Ford has this dodge didn’t.

So those famous “focus groups” MB and AMG have relied so much on seem to be somewhat off track. Listening to the customer, what a novel idea. At worst, they could have offered a low power 6 inline for the C43 and a high power 6 inline for the C63 to compete the BMW M head to head. Then the CLÉ could have a 63 with a V8 and make it a very attractive model. Look at the new 911, they added electrification with very little weight addition resulting in amazing power results. We have the technology ! I’ll send in my resume to AMG LOL!

I have a 4cyl 2liter turbo amg and the 0 to 60, quarter mile and tip speed are almost identical to the big ass v8 amg. Power to weight. The formula is tried and true.

Totally agree with you Mike I would defo have a V8 over a 4 cylinder and would prefere to take a power cut to get the V8 because it sounds sp much better and also why is amg not going thos V8 in bi turbo as surely the power can come from them, so hope the CLE63 amg come out with the V8 power plant, just bring the V12 back for 1 more showing, great video Mike I love you passion top man peace brother 🙏 👍 👌

Just saw a drag race between a 2015 c63s and the new c63(610hp) and the 4cyl smacked the v8. But a rather have the v8.

Provkörde en cla 45 amg snygg bil 380hk men det va ju en 4 med stor turbo. Det va inte rätt motor till en amg. Bilen gick bra men hade inte samma karaktär. Min s60 med en rak 6s kändes mer i mellan registret och polestar trim. Bara 330hk men vridet är nåt helt annat.

Now the new Mini’s have old-body ergonomics and seats. Because mostly old rich people are buying them. But to feel young they were buying it guys!

4 cyl is fine if it's an a/cla/gla/glb45 but not the C63's and upwards

I absolutely love that AMG have been schooled so comprehensively by their customers, if the 'close to zero sales' is true. Stupid people in the organisation who thought they knew better have had their asses handed to them, just what they deserve. I love fast cars, including ICE cars and EVs, but this is a great example of a business having no clue about their customers (or not caring), and getting the response they deserve. Love it!

lol new CLE 63 is going to be like $150K... cle 53 (the 6 cylinder) is $80K+ so around $100K realistically. The new GLC 63 is like $130K (which is 4 cylinder + electric)

Great video, great commentary. I couldn’t agree more, I share the exact same viewpoint as you do on all of this stuff. I can’t stand these dorks who talk up how great EV’s are because they are fast. It’s like, DUDE, I don’t give a crap! I’m not buying it--period. I don’t want your stupid toaster on wheels, and if I can’t buy a product that excites me, then I’m moving on to a new hobby. My money is my money, period. Carmakers who are caving into the EV push should listen just a bit more to their customers.

I think it is meant for more every day driving like the new M3/4's.

They make 6 cylinders in many other non AMG cars.

My service advisor told me couple years ago Benz was going to 4 cylinders in AMG ‘s and I told him good luck I would NEVER buy one! Lame as hell. I currently own a 2022 SL63 and love it. If it had a 4 cylinder I would never have bought it.

Unfortunately, if true, it’s likely going to be priced where an E63 coupe would have been priced and nowhere near where the C63 coupe was priced. I just got the new LCI M4 and that’s already priced well above where my W205 C63…a V8 CLE63 is going to be approaching 150k (CAD, guessing 120-130ish USD) I’m thinking wayyyy outside the range that your typical C63 customer would likely stretch their budget to, including me :(

Mercedes could have easily just asked a few people in a focus group, would they want a new C-Class AMG with a hybrid 4 cylinder powertrain versus the classic v8. That would have been a 5-minute long conversation and save them the millions of dollars they'll lose on these stupid 4-cylinder AMGs.

I doubt Mercedes decided to drop the 4 cylinder for the CLE Coupe. It was their plan all along to produce this with a V8. This has been in development for way to long to change plans a few months before launch. Maybe the faclifted C63 or the next gen are getting a V8, maybe with a hybrid combination, but this generation seems to be done with the 4 cylinder, unless they add some kind of special edition.

Why not a V6? Why a 4 or 8?
