For bbmb I don’t do the early access - I don’t want 25 bars, half of which I may not end up liking. Life’s too short to constantly be using up new wax I don’t love. I’ve picked about 6-8 bars I want to try and if there’s a lot of buzz about a scent I may throw it in club to try later. That way if I love it I can get one more. Side note, scentsy is doing WAY TOO MANY LTOs this year. It is actually ridiculous. I’ve passed on almost everything. I put a bar of black tie affair and cauldron cakes in my club to try but I skipped my summer club so I won’t get them til September. They need to pare down the amount of LTOs for real!!

I understand what you're saying about Scentsy LTOs, but isn't it kind of the same thing with vendors who do monthly pre-orders and then an RTS following a preorder? We don't have to participate in any of them from Scentsy or vendors. (Please, please know that I'm not being sassy or negative. That's not who I am.) As we all know it's FOMO and our love of home fragrance that makes us want to try it all!! I have GUILTY written all over my face! I fell down the vendor rabbit hole just this year (I fell in Scentsy's rabbit hole a couple years ago). I've also become addicted to watching you lovely youtubers. I very much enjoy watching your content!! I just made the decision for myself to not be shy with using my wax. I want to be socked in the face with fragrance, so I decided that I'm going to use more wax if I have to in order to get better throw. I have PLENTY of wax and I'm going to enjoy it! I have a small house, but as you know with certain conditions it can sometimes be difficult to get throw. I would only use 4 Scentsy cubes in my living room, but wait for it................... now I use a WHOLE bar! Whoa! Lol!! I wish you the best on your no buy. I'm actually participating with you too!! I skipped the BBMB early access, . I almost caved in, but told myself I would rather buy some wax I know I like than 25 bars which I know there are about half that doesn’t even interest me. I will pick up two 6 packs on July 1 after hearing some reviews. For the most part I avoid vendor wax, mostly because I’m in Canada and I think shipping would be expensive, so that helps

I understand wanting to support small businesses, but I my thoughts are that it is most important to support oneself first by prioritizing financial goals and feeling less overwhelmed. I had told you I am on a no-buy for June and July too. What I do to make it feel like I’m shopping my collection is I have decorative baskets, trays, and even pretty repurposed candle vessels with the wax I’m currently melting. It makes the wax look on display, kind of like a store, and makes it feel more special to use rather than sitting in a storage area. The two months will go by quickly and it will give us a chance to give attention to and use the great things we already have.

I agree fully. My financial goals have always been met before I purchase wax, but I could be contributing even more than I am now. Life should be fun too and this is a hobby, but I recognize that I need a better balance. I love the idea of making your wax, candles etc looking like a store! You get the adrenaline rush of shopping in a way, without actually shopping. Great tip!

It is hard to get over the FOMO, but the more you pass up new releases and RTSs, the easier it gets. For me a lot of times I just don’t look! I hope you achieve your goals!

I love everyone’s what you have been warming videos! I now only will buy from 2 vendors Teddy Bees and Second and Spruce. I wait for a bit before I buy Scentsy and when I get I warm the entire bar in my open concept and if I don’t love it, I won’t repurchase. This helps with keeping my Scentsy under control. 😂 love all your content!

I so needed this!! Memorial Day weekend for preorders was rough! It's a little easier with vendors that offer a RTS because then I can reason with myself to wait. I think I may have to snooze some of my group pages because I'm not very strong. Together we can do hard things! 🙂❤️

I am still super new to vendor wax, but I feel like the preorder model from some vendors is a genius strategy to get people to buy more. Definitely not saying they do that with ill intent, but if you can only get it a few times a year, there is a huge incentive to buy. If not, you might miss out on an entire season's worth of scents! That's what gets me buying, at least. I feel like it's much easier to skip on the vendors who are open regularly. I am not necessarily on a no/low buy since im still new, but thankfully, i get through a lot of wax, so I'm finding that I can keep a good flow of purchasing and melting. I am a stay at home mom, so I generally melt all day, everyday 😊

Me too ,I was tempted to look at SuperTarts only because I would love more Jaws lol But I didn’t!! I don’t even know if IJaws was offered! I’m so excited for the preorders! Wax Rd Show , sweet tooth, Salt Mountain, The PD, Brittas, and TB! I don’t have regrets about any of those orders! Right!!!! I am learning so much about what vendors are my favorites!! I can’t do an inventory right now. I would love a weekly melting, that would be so fun! I saw the turtle warmer from Scentsy… That might breat me, I always get something Sea turtle related every year around my daughters Birthday to honor her. So, I have to think on that!! I committed to a no-buy as well. I have a love for candles and wax melts. This past weekend was the beginning of BBW semi annual sale. I held strong and didn't buy, despite great prices and coupons. Ahhhhhhh that felt good. I / we can do this!

I am thrilled to have found you on KZread. I need this content so much. I have an addiction to wax. I buy from mainly Scentsy, Pink Zebra and Six18candles. Literally I own every scent each company puts out. I have enough of a stash to last me the next 10 years. But I buy more every time something new comes out. I really have to stop, it is my only vice so I give myself grace for that but I can look around my house and know it’s a problem.

I LOVE it and like you said I give myself grace for that, but I can enjoy this hobby without being as overboard as I am. I happily accept that I will always have more wax than the average person, but I could tone it down just a bit haha Thank you for watching!

Seeing the number really helps! What you’ve been warming videos sound great. I love the community supporting each other with no buy! Scentsy really isn’t tempting me with much this summer. I’m going to wait to hear reviews before picking up any of the BBMBs. I know I won’t like all 25, so that would be a waste for me. My exception to the no buy is L3 this month.

I agree about finding it hard to want to support all these great small businesses, but also keep the balance of not purchasing every preorder to do so. I need to get better at posting in their Facebook groups when I melt something - that seems like a good way to show support while sticking to my no buy 🤗

It can be overwhelming, and it accumulates so quickly! When I moved two years ago, I got rid of so much and got so angry at myself. I’ve gotten away from it since, placing a small order with Destination Wax for my favorite scents and that’s it. So far anyway. Now candles, that’s another story 🤦‍♀️. Good morning, Alexis! I think you’re plan is very doable. Everyone will encourage you to keep it up. 😊 You need to “shop you own stash” and enjoy the scents you already have and love. Obviously we love wax and want to try all the things in fear of losing out but it certainly can get overwhelming. I’ve learned over the years that most (a few exceptions obviously) vendor wax doesn’t throw well for me. I typically only stick to Scentsy and Sassy Girl Aroma. Having said that, I don’t like bakery so I’m not searching for those scents that Scentsy doesn’t provide much of. 😂 I keep a quarterly club that has my favorites in it and use that as my shopping not as an “ additional to” so for me it’s not stressful at all. I throw the LTO’s that I think I’d like to try in that club but not every single scent that’s released and if I love it great it’s already in my club. I can only melt so much wax anyway so my quarterly shipment keeps me stocked with my favorites plus any new ones to try and nothing gets old. At this point I think we mostly know about what we are going to like or not and if we didn’t get to try it then we’ll never know what we missed out on! 😂 I say pick your top favorites vendors ( after your no-buy period ends) that you love and do well in your home. ❤😊 I think it would make it less stressful and overwhelming feeling. LOVE you and your videos.

It takes 21 days to form a habit. When I was on my No buy I didn’t make exceptions to buy. It was just a no buy. That helped me. It got easier as time went on. That’s my advice- once you start your no buy, don’t make exceptions. It just makes it easier.

I say wait till July and get the BBMB scents that you really enjoy or want. There is nothing worse than having a bunch of scents/bars that you don't like. Bars, u aren't sure can go in your club to try at a later date. Watch some reviews to help you make a decision. Love your honesty! I need to slow down on purchasing myself. It's so hard sometimes.

L&S opening in July, Second & Spruce in August.

I only buy scentsy so I feel it’s a bit easier for me because I only buy one company of wax. I started counting in November and my number was 451 and I told myself to keep it between 300-500 I am comfortable with 300 and 500 max..I am now sitting at 679 😩. I use to have a monthly club with my favourites and then seasonal bars in my quarterly club I have now combined them to a bi monthly club so I will have some months where I don’t get a club and I am telling myself every three months not to buy any wax just to add any bars I want to try into my next club. Also only ordering through my club and not PWS orders so I only allow myself to have one order come in. (BBMB is my exception it’s my favourite launches) You have a good point about not getting wax in the summer. Last summer was super hot here and I didn’t get a single ice pack in my orders from scentsy. I had some bars all wet which looked like there was an ice pack in there but there wasn’t and I had a few bars melt when I got them. Maybe I’ll do a no buy in August before the new catalog launches for September

I’m getting more wax this summer than ever. Largely because of the wax roadshow. I’m really nervous about those. It’s already the high 90s here. My second and spruce, Britta’s and last lavender & speckles order came partially melted. I think I’m going to return to no pre-orders after mid April. I just love supporting those vendors. I typically only do Scentsy and Teddy Bees in the summer. Because Scentsy ice packs, foil wraps, and can make it right if wax is damaged in shipping. And Teddy Bees ships well packaged and tends to be to me in under 4 days. I just cheered at the thought of weekly empties. 😂🙌 I always love listening to your empties while I’m working on spreadsheets early in the week. 🎉 I’m bias but yes to weekly empties. As for BBMB. I think it’s complicated and totally get the debate. The thing about it to me is I know that I’m likely to melt the majority of those 25 bars by mid July because I’ll want to test them to see which ones to grab before they are gone. So there is a motivation to get through them fast 💨. 💯 No judgement on your number doubling. You’ve not only increased your collection but also provided lots of great review content for many of us (She says while sitting in her office happily melting TBs Blushed) Don’t underestimate how much value your support of all these vendors has done. So whatever you decide to do to be comfortable with your collection size know it’s already brought joy and community to many people. You are going to find your balance. I’m a spreadsheet girlie so so do count by ounces. That’s how I know if I’m reasonably gonna be able to melt what I have in 18 months. That’s always my goal for wax and candles. Teddy Bees has just gotten an increase in my spreadsheet to two years based largely on your videos 😂❤

I already broke my no buy 😂😂😂 i stayed strong for the scoopable however i got an email from L&S for customs 😂 and no way i was missing that 😂 i did keep it pretty small.. i ordered 24 total souffle size cups and now my no buy officially starts 😂. I just have ao much wax there is no need its just the fomo that always gets to me.. but i feel like i will never get through any wax if i keep buying from ever single RTS and pre order.. i am holding out for the teddy bee's rts and then her pre order. Hoping i can resist salt mountain pre order because i just know she will be posting the requests in the next few weeks 😂 🤭 but i am really going to do my best to not look 😂.. We got this queen ❤️

I passed on the BBMB. there were only 3 that looked interesting to me. I gave most of the last BBMB away. Good job on week one. I'm going to confess now, I am going to be purchasing from L3. There are scents I want to have on hand for after she closes. My L3 stash was quite small. Other than that, I'm sitting back waiting for all my outstanding pre-orders and behaving. Like you, I have 1,317 pieces of wax not including samples or the pre-orders I haven't received....EEK!!!

Hey Alexis, I have a content idea that I wanted to share. I know you are on a no-buy, but I think it would be really cool to share what you WOULD buy or what you recommend from certain openings if you were shopping (if it's not too tempting). For instance, it seems like L3 is having an opening weekly until she closes, but I am so overwhelmed by her lists and would love to have someone who is more experienced give their suggestions to help me focus my selection a litte more. Same with Super Tarts. I want to get in on some of these weekly RTSs but don't know where to start! I know you probably film way in advance, so I'm not sure if the timing would work out, but I just wanted to pass along that suggestion.

Hi Hannah, thank you so much for that recommendation! I do try to go over preorder lists here and there, but I don't do them for every opening. I film in advance like you mentioned and it's tough to hit timing right- especially with Super Tarts because a lot of the lists don't really go up until that day. Let me think about it a bit and see how I can work some more of that content in. I'm happy to do them! Also if there is every anything you are curious about, i'm always available on instagram and can help walk you through a list as well if you need any feedback. Thank you for the idea!

I’ve never destashed (bought or sold) but do have wax that I don’t care for on cold and I think that would help with my numbers, which have grown a ton since vendor shopping (versus only Scentsy) this past year. Do you recommend doing that or do you think you’ll destash any of your inventory? Helpful video 😊 You got this! 🙏🏼

I personally don't destash my wax, but prefer to send to friends or save for a giveaway. That's just me though and think destashing is a great way to pass on wax you know you don't love!

Girl, I know your struggle. I probably have 3000 pieces of wax. And I am waiting on an apartment approval. So half of my stash is probably either going to go to friends or if it's too old. It will have to be thrown out

If you know you only really want 4 bars, then I would just wait to grab those in July BUT sometimes you find bars you didn't know you would love! It's tough to decide!

I'm not sure what I will do during BBMB. Part of me wants to order a few bars & another part of me says add them to my club. An even smaller part of me says skip BBMB. Decisions decisions decisions 🤔 😂

I can really relate to the 15 vendors 😂 and trying to support every single vendor and honestly a few i dont even care much for performance for me wise and i attill seem to feel almost guilty if i think About not buying feom them all but i really am going to cut way back to my absolute favorite vendors that give the performance i want.. (also a few have very high prices for the quality of performance for example i dont want to pay 5.50 for a 2.5 oz snap bar that dont perform when i could spend that on 4oz from a vendor that does perform amazingly for me)

I haven't been buying Scentsy, they don't have the bars I want.

Coming from a wax addict, it has gotten easier for me to walk away from Scentsy because I just don't like what they are putting out these days. It is all very close to being the same ole, same ole. I asked myself how many Strawberry scents do I need or how many Lemon/Lime scents do I need. I have enough. I am mainly buying Teddy Bee's and S and S. Teddy Bee's is an absolute standout, even compared to Scentsy, so I am not ready to give her up.

My starting number for this low buy is 641. It was lower at the beginning of the year cuz I did a low buy from Oct to Dec. But it's certainly grown 😅

@@AlexisSchlueter I looked at my numbers last year. I think it's possible to get the number to 550 at the end of July. It's good to set a number and have a visualization in mind. Do you have a goal?

I am still super new to vendor wax, but I feel like the preorder model from some vendors is a genius strategy to get people to buy more. Definitely not saying they do that with ill intent, but if you can only get it a few times a year, there is a huge incentive to buy. If not, you might miss out on an entire season's worth of scents! That's what gets me buying, at least. I feel like it's much easier to skip on the vendors who are open regularly. I am not necessarily on a no/low buy since im still new, but thankfully, i get through a lot of wax, so I'm finding that I can keep a good flow of purchasing and melting. I am a stay at home mom, so I generally melt all day, everyday 😊 And i think a weekly warming video would be great!!

That’s a great point! Agreed I don’t think it’s intentional that way, but I would never miss a Teddy bees opening for example because it only happens 3 times a year. I’m going to try a weekly melting video every Friday at least for a bit and see how it goes. I work out of the home so I’m not able to melt tons during the week but I still get through a fair amount. I can always go back to bi weekly!

I only buy scentsy so I feel it’s a bit easier for me because I only buy one company of wax. I started counting in November and my number was 451 and I told myself to keep it between 300-500 I am comfortable with 300 and 500 max..I am now sitting at 679 😩. I use to have a monthly club with my favourites and then seasonal bars in my quarterly club I have now combined them to a bi monthly club so I will have some months where I don’t get a club and I am telling myself every three months not to buy any wax just to add any bars I want to try into my next club. Also only ordering through my club and not PWS orders so I only allow myself to have one order come in. (BBMB is my exception it’s my favourite launches) You have a good point about not getting wax in the summer. Last summer was super hot here and I didn’t get a single ice pack in my orders from scentsy. I had some bars all wet which looked like there was an ice pack in there but there wasn’t and I had a few bars melt when I got them. Maybe I’ll do a no buy in August before the new catalog launches for September

@@AlexisSchlueter okay so weird that you said that because I wrote a comment and then it didn’t show and then after that it posted twice for some reason and then I deleted one and it was still there. Sooooo not sure what’s happening lol. Low buy for August for me it’s settled! Then I can buy new catalog stuff in September
