Yes he was. But we are talking past tense here. Most of his predictions of the world events did not turn out to be true. The world events are what they are, not what they are supposed to be. Perhaps it would have been better for him if China expand its influences to his doorsteps.

When his wife pass away some interviewer ask about his wife then his reply is to ask the interviewer to keep quiet . May be many people would like people that is not humble like most Singaporean. For example when people ask about some topics like orchid plants to a Singaporean orchid expert 99% of them would rather talk about their achievements rather than teaching others about planting orchids. I am Malaysian I am not here to talk bad about Singaporean but majority I met all boast about being better than Malaysian people. May be some times Malaysian people is quite unfair to certain groups of people but all I am proud as a Malaysian myself is Malaysian aren't as boastful as Lky .

Lee kwan yew a great visionary man. All his predictions are proving right today. My sincere respect to him, RIP.

The video ended in a very distasteful manner. "So peace is better than military action any time of the day" said the interviewer. This is NOT what LKY meant at all, not sure why the interviewer interpreted as that. i can almost feel LKY's temptation to roll his eyes once that sentence came out.

Seems to me like in the case for Taiwan, that’s aligned with what LKY was saying. Specifically that it’s in the interests for Americans to facilitate peace in Taiwan rather than take military action I think that’s a fair inference

After decades of watching Dr M, I have to sadly conclude that he in my opinion is only cunning, the most cunning in consolidating power. Then I realized this is so different from Nation Building to truly build n harmonize the country towards growth. If LKY had been Malaysia, a country rich with resources, Malaysia would be the richest nation per Capita. There's no comparison between LKY n Dr M. History will make it even clearer that Dr M is really not worth LKY's hair.

Indeed LKY was a great MENTOR par excellence - to whomsoever sought his advice. The fact that Deng Xiao Ping travelled 🧳 all the way from China 🇨🇳 to meet LKY and see Singapore 🇸🇬 for himself was a huge testimony for these two outstanding Chinese leaders of the 20th Century 👏 🙌 🎉

He is sharp. Taiwan is merely an arm away from the mainland, and such geographical distance can never be shortened or lengthened. China may be defeated by the US-led forces the first time, a second time, even a third time. But China will never amend its constitutional claim over Taiwan. Sooner or later, a fourth time will come when USA loses its interest and zeal, and decides to quit and let it be. The most powerful thing in the world is the will power, not to mention with a size like China.

When they ask by International Press ,then Taiwan President said Nuclear Power station is for energy , when asked whether they have Nuclear warhead , he refused to answer. North Korea have only around 30 Nukes , why USA don't dare it , it has few thousand nukes?? I think China is aware of Taiwan having Nukes. lol. the interviewer is so disrespectful. LKY already said he’s old and it takes too much effort to write a book, and the interviewer continued to ask him to consider writing a book 3 times. Lol. No wonder we no longer see u online.

Correction! Sun Yat sen is a Cantonese. Finally, LKY is manipulative and totalitarian politician that brooks no dissent! He was a self-avowed Socialist even during his student days in UK. He won the election on strong Communist sentiment that he played up during election. But when he found out that he had to share power with the Communist, he had them promptly arrested. You certainly need to take some history lesson!

LKY knew whats going to happen, thats why he always sought to avoid the inevitable that will arise because of bad decision making. Thats why people get locked up in ISA. On the surface, it seems cruel, but the reality is. Had these people been around to influence the masses, the country would be destroyed or at least made half handicap.

I’m very impressed with his pronunciation of Tonle Sap. This man was a great human being and leader for Singapore. Singapore became what it is today because of him, just like China because of Deng Xiaoping.

We have an extremely weak federal leadership and I seriously doubt they would do anything if China decided to take Hong Kong and Taiwan by force today. Our leadership is too focused on rooting out perceived 'white supremacy' and 'systemic racism' to actually confront true evil. China has nothing to fear from us...

How true it is, there's of no national interest of US to fight China in the name of democracy? Taiwan is already a part of China not US everyone knows, and who will sacrificed their own blood into other family business and get backlash back home? Look at Vietnam war itself.

Believe it or not, retired UK Prime Minister Tony Blair said in a tv interview it was Lee Kuan Yew who guided him on how to win the election and become UK Prime Minister. When l saw it, my eyebrows were raised 😨❗

The idea that Deng opened the economy after visiting S'pore and the rest is history (i.e. economic growth) is not correct. After the collapse of the Cultural Revolution and Mao's death, Deng visited many countries (especially in 1978) to learn how to craft a new model. In the end, it was a bottom-up model based on marginal market adjustments, including the breaking up of communes, freeing of certain prices, small enterprises, and reform of SOEs. It was not successful; the high youth unemployment and inflation ended in the Tiananmen Square protests by students and disgruntled workers. Hence, from 1978-89, it was a false start, although it set the road to reform.

He was right, but that was before he pass away. The world has changed.

@@khein2204 He is no a fortune teller. He predicted many things right, and wrong as well. It is unfortunate that Xi is totally different from Deng vision, which LKY has met. Many things happen in "only" 9 years, LKY wouldn't have predicted a pandemic which change the world.

And don't forget samsung also capable to make leading edge chips thanks to betrayal of tsmc's top employee

RE: Taiwan. Let me add the observation of an American citizen. Most Americans cannot find Taiwan on a map. If t thousands of Americans are killed over this place, whose independence means nothing to them, there will be a political firestorm. Same goes for the South China sea. My son/daughter died for "freedom of navigation" on the other side of the world????? If casualties are such that the government tries to re-start the draft, there will be a rebellion. The US weakness is personnel, just like Israel. All the glittering tech means little if the stuff is under=staffed. Especially after the Afghan fiasco, and the upcoming withdrawal from Iraq, the American public is done with this kind of nonsense. As long as Taiwan produces most of the world's semiconductors, it is safe from invasion,. Once China fixes that, all bets are off.
