Спорт

IOWA CITY, Iowa - March 3rd, 2024
The sixth-ranked Iowa women’s basketball team came away with a 93-83, win over No. 2 Ohio State during Sunday’s Senior Day matchup inside a sold-out Carver-Hawkeye Arena. Iowa improved to 26-4 on the season and 15-3 in conference play.
All-American Caitlin Clark recorded 35 points to pass LSU’s Pete Maravich as the all-time leading scorer in NCAA Division-I college basketball history with 3,685 career points. Senior Gabbie Marshall went 4-of-8 from the three-point line to add 12 points, and graduate student Kate Martin added 11 points on this senior day. Hannah Stuelke contributed 23 points and nine rebounds.
The Hawkeyes came out on top as Stuelke led the first quarter with 10 points. Iowa went on an 18-3 run in midst of the first to lead 28-19 going into the second, and it was a back-and-forth game between the Hawkeyes and the Buckeyes before the half. Clark was sent to the free-throw line with .03 to play in the second quarter, and she downed both free throws to register her record-breaking point before half. Iowa outrebounded the Buckeyes 24-14 through the first half.
Iowa shot 60% from the field and 50% from three in the third quarter to add 27 points as Clark played the duration of the quarter, scoring 11. Seniors Marshall and Martin had back-to-back threes to contribute to the Hawkeyes, 13-1 run in the third. Ohio State came within eight points with 43 seconds left in the game, but the Hawkeyes held the lead to the end.
The Hawkeyes led all but the first two minutes of the game.

She is fluid, coordinated, a hustler, an excellent ball handler, fine passer, possesses decent speed, can drive to the bucket,is quick as a cat, and can play defense.I want her in the game until she drops , in the ncaa tourney. Marshall is one of the most underrated bball players in America. Case closed.

Clark is the living embodiment of the basketball video game created player that took you hundreds of games to get up to a 99 rating. The mastery of the game that you acquired while building up to 99 along with the maxed out skills your player has at that point enable you to completely dominate the game. Your experience from grinding out all those games enables you to anticipate everything that's going to happen. Because of that, you always have your player in the right spot at the right time and your max skills allow you to hit crazy shots and complete crazy passes from anywhere on the court. If I was playing her as a video game character, I don't think I could do much better with her in the game than she does in real life. Her level of skill on offense is absurd!

I cannot comprehend why Team Championship is the measure to be a GOAT. Basketball is played by standard 12 players in a team with 5 players always in the active floor. The individual player may be the best but no back-up for the success of the team, then is not the best? While someone is a great player but not as great as the greatest but with excellent team mates to win a championship, he became the GOAT. Its ridiculous. Then the late Mr 11 champion is the GOAT.

I like the way Clark never takes the last obvious shot at the end of a blow out. edit : after watching the SC win in the finals I can see the same game against State. Give Iowa State the same three under the basket that SC had and you have a loss for Iowa in this game. The tallest girl in the line up spent most her time at the offensive end out at the 3 point line. SC took advantage of the rebounding and the Iowa mistakes that State wasn't able to without the height advantage.

It was a total fake and flop by Clark that the ref fell for - an absolute joke and embarrassment to the women's game. It was cut from this recap, of course, because it doesn't fit the Clark narrative that is constantly pushed on us. She gets away with pushing people away so she can hit her 3s all of the time. That's a offensive foul every time.

The sports media is so bad. You can't give women their own sports then combine their records with men. Pistol Pete left LSU 20 years before the 3 point line and the shot clock. They charted all his shots and where they were taken on the floor and it is estimated that Pistol Pete would have averaged around 60 points per game if both were used while he was playing. The shot clock increased scoring by a lot because teams had adopted a slow down 4 corners type offense to run the clock out. He also played against stiffer competition.

Calm Down bro. If you want to say PISTOL PETE is the Legit all time scorer... that's Fine. But Clark has to be #2, and it's impressive that a Woman "broke" the record. The closest man do it was from Detroit Mercy... and he only got close because he played whole extra season because of covid. Let Clark have her moment.

Clark is pathetic she is the all time leading scoring in NCAA basketball and carries herself in that way on the court, honestly it’s sad, what makes a great player is how they react when not everything is their way!! I loved her last year but this year I can’t even stand to watch one possession by her

Why is Caitlin Carter the GOAT? It is very simple really. CC puts butts in the seats. CC is ratings. CC is money.

There was NO WAY the powers that be were going to let Ohio State get in the way of their Hallmark "Heartland" movie storyline. If the Buckeyes came withing 3 late, the officials would've called another technical. They never were going to be given a chance.

LOL at people saying women basketball being more fundamentally sound. What a load of BS. All I saw was crappy free throw shooting, shit defense, shit passing and garbage ass layup that missed the entire rim. And this is all within 4 minutes of the highlights, this is why nobody is watching.
