Take a really small, flat screwdriver. Pry from one corner/ edge. Work slowly around, using the edge of the blade. I also incorporated a butter knife to help keep the edge lifted. Some of the cups have epoxy on them (found out from pulling a spare marker from the junkyard). Take your time.

New Altima 4th gen owner and my side mirror lights went out. I guess it's a pretty common problem. I can't seem to remove the housing. I tried using a flathead screwdriver but I'm afraid I'm going to bust the tabs. What's the trick?

that's what our Nissan dealership said also, then the parts guy got another guy who worked there much longer, and he found a way to get it separate.

This video is just OK but still... thanx for doing it!! I just completed this on my 2012 Altima coupe SR. It is difficult to do the job without breaking a few clips. The lights I got off of Amazon fit super snug but fit. I had to line the shell with black electrical tape but you can’t tell. Probably will be purchasing a driver side mirror w/signal in the future as I broke some of the black plastic border.

WhiteHorse Boarder I'm so fed up with it that I'm about to dismantle the whole.damn thing. my light is still out. I just don't want to break the plastic cover doing this. I got the top part off but the bottom is hard af to take off.

Thanks for the video. Having trouble with the clip. The electrical clip. I can’t for the life of me figure out how to unclip it. I lifted the flap which would normally release the plug but it seems still hooked in somehow. Any suggestions? Thanks

Take a very small flat head screwdriver and stick it in the pigtail plug gently working it up. Be careful! I broke one with needle nose pliers and had to go to a junkyard to get a replacement.

Nissan wanted to charge me over $430 for a driver side mirror because they said that the light was not replaceable you had to replace the whole thing

I called the dealership with part number 26443ZX50A and they said that's just the housing it won't fix burnt out lights. He explained to me that it's like changing a headlight, It's only the housing not the lights. Is that true?

No, that specific part number is for the DRIVERS SIDE mirror replacement "Signal Light" portion. It is not the entire housing. When the techs pull this number up, they do see the whole assembly of the mirror, but in a subsequent drawing within their system, it explodes out and says clearly that this part number is for "figure 7". When you reference "figure 7" in the key of the picture, it is strictly this clear lens signal light alone.

Need your bulb info too.

I believe all you have to do is press the rear view defroster and it's connected to the mirrors It takes about 5 minutes. after about 5 minutes put your hand on the glass to see if it's warm

We got ours from the local Nissan dealer, but had to explain what we were doing as their first comment was that the light was part of the mirror. The guy in parts didn't know he could get it separate. Now he does.

Would you be able to share the part number off your invoice if you still have it? Dealership near me only will sell me the whole unit and insists they cant order just the light. I would love to fix my light but won't pay for a whole mirror.

FatGuysTouch that's what my fuckin Nissan dealership said too. Go to courtesyparts.com and type part #26443ZX50A and that should be the replacement for the Altima Coupe for the year of 2012.

Yeah luckily the dealership that sells them is just a 20 minute drive away from me so I was able to pick it up the same day. The dealership that I called threw a fucking hissy fit when I called them and chewed them out for saying I have to repair the whole unit

FatGuysTouch the douches at my local Nissan dealership told me I'd have do the same thing; buy the whole mirror for $400 or $450 + tax with labor, when I asked if there was a part number they told me "They don't sell just the light strip no, you have to buy the whole assembly". I don't know why they couldn't have told me the part number is "26443zx50a", order it online for $45.00. I have people dude

It would have been nice if I could have done that. I said in the video though I can't get the camera where you need to see. And didn't have anyone to hold it either. Hopefully me showing you the tabs was helpful.

If you can do it in five mins why did you leave the part out of you removing all the clips that’s what I wanna now??

i took a look at my mirror. mine is heated and has the tilt feature in reverse. the screw is behing the glass. I tried to get it and couldnt get to it. and now my mirror doesnt tilt anymore :(

So you're basically replacing the whole light housing. because I just took the cover off and I see it's one piece with a one connector. Do you remove that small connector behind?

I'm assuming the guy that made this video is not reading any of the comments. Instead of making a video of how one might change those bulb units letting us use our imagination while you act it out, why not just video it showing you doing it? Do you understand the concept of a do-it-yourself video on KZread? That's a rhetorical question. And saying where you got the light bulbs? How useful would that be?? After all you claim to have done so many of them but you must certainly have a source. Tell people just a little bit more. I will be sure to post one of my own that shows how to take these apart and where to get the light bulb units once I find them. You certainly don't deserve all these views for a pretty worthless video when you could have made very useful, with just a little more effort. It's kind of like describing the taste chicken when you're eating chocolate.

The purpose of the video was to show it CAN be done despite the misinformation that many get from the dealership. Just a basic description for how was all that was intended. I never intended to take the time to hold your hand through the process. You should use your time wisely and drive to your local dealership and pay them to do it. That will bring you greater happiness than watching my horrible video. I'm sorry to have absolutely wasted one minute and 44 seconds of your life.

@@Mutatedchromosomes333 You couldn't see behind the mirror with a camera as I had to use a 1/16 ride screwdriver to release the tabs that I COULD and DID show when it was off. Your asking for a video of something that you can't see until it's off. I show clearly the tabs that you're feeling around for with a screwdriver. Sorry for wasting your time. I recommend you see a professional mechanic, or find a professional videographer who can make a better video for you.

Doug McGill it will be the same fuse as the other turn signals. They do not run a separate fuse just for those small LEDs. If your other turn signals are working then you don't need to bother with the fuse.
