Yes, we wanted more info on Smash, but we didn’t want it to take up 2/3rds of the direct. And technically Super Mario Party was the only new game announced, the rest were just ports, remasters and third party games. Where was Animal Crossing? Its been over six years since the last actual Animal Crossing game released and we were hoping for a new game for the Switch to be announced. We also wanted more info on the Yoshi title coming in 2019 and maybe a new Metroid game. This direct was kinda disappointing for fans who like things other than Smash.

Listen everyone, don't complain. Metroid was not ready yet, and Nintendo wanted to wait for something new to share for excitement. Yoshi is not coming out this year, it's been delayed to 2019. Animal Crossing has not been announced yet, but to what I have been seeing, you may not see it for a while. Meaning in years. Nintendo is still doing lots of things right now and we need time for them to produce games and announce them when they are ready to be announced. Game development takes time you know. Plus, Bayonetta 3 wasn't going to be shown at this year's E3 for sure. IF they announced it 5 months ago, there was a slight to no chance of having a trailer or something to show at E3.

DON'T PANIC EVERYONE! It was obvious that they wanted this direct to be focused on Smash. There will probably be another direct soon, showing us some Mario Odyssey DLC, more details on Metroid Prime 4, and maybe even Animal Crossing. DON'T GIVE UP HOPE.

I think if they'd given us either Metroid or Animal Crossing or Pikmin, most people would've been fine, but to get none of these was a little disappointing.

This E3 was not the landslide victory Nintendo had last year - mostly because the other companies really brought it this time- but I think calling this Direct disappointing is a bit of a stretch. There was a lot of great stuff in here, even if it doesn't appeal to you (the same way that maybe you don't like Bethesda games but can recognize how great their E3 was).

The last time nintendo hit the ball out of the park imo was in 2014. 2015 sucked, 2016 was mostly Zelda, 2017 was pretty good, and today was like 2016 all over again. Mostly Smash.

There is a bit of a trend. Every other year, they give us smash bros, and some games that are cool, but that ppl haven't been dying for, and then give us a year full of games like Breath of the Wild, Odyssey, Splatoon, etc. There are two reasons for this. One, putting smash bros in a field of its own makes it feel that much bigger, and draws popularity to it. Two, the other games that are released the next year have more popularity around them as Nintendo wants these games to sell well as well and does not want Smash bros to outshine them. Nintendo knows smash bros is one of if not the most popular franchise they have in their company, so they try to separate when it is released from everything else to keep it from drowning out other games that could be just as good if not better, because they are lesser known.

I can't agree. I think they started week and finished strong. This Smash game is the same as the Wii U one with character differences and stage differences. So, they had to explain the difference between them. I guess it's alright, to be honest.

It's a little hard to imagine Reggie not being the face of NOA anymore.

Yes but e3 is watched by all games and it should be where they try and sell people switches where as directs are a bit more exclusive and are seen by active nintendo fans more than players of other consoles

We still have TGS2018 which is basically Japan's E3 and Nintendo's home turf. We'll definitely see more news this fall.

Well- at this point Nintendo is an independent Dev first and a console maker later. It's been that way for a while- they've gotten more following with other developers, but it's their games that make the system. And while Nintendo is a big company, they have to trust their devs for the best quality and don't hire a lot compared to other companies for major projects. There's a reason the Nintendo Seal exists outside bootlegging. As a developer Nintendo either way makes an insane amount of games and is constantly busy- having to hold a project off because they're making so many more is something of which people need to be made aware. Asking them to make more would create a GIANT decrease in quality and quality control. And people complain about ports from other consoles when THE COMPANY IS ALWAYS WORKING- the new Smash is featuring every character with altered movesets, designs, updated old and new stages, many new pokemon, and even while Sakurai had spread some work out between devs, the load was still about the same- the poor guy's a workaholic. Nintendo wants to make as many meaty games as they can, and even this is impressive.

The fact that Splatoon DLC and Yoshi weren't even mentioned means that we're gonna get another direct very soon with probably also more info on Metroid so chill out.

You guys do realize that Nintendo said over a month ago that this E3 was primarily focusing on Smash, right? I too am kind of disappointed that they didn’t mention Yoshi or Bayo 3, but you guys raised your expectations a bit too high. If you’re a Smash fan, then today was definitely a jackpot. Hopefully they’ll talk about more games over the next day or two.

I’m watching this at almost the next e3 and I’m getting so nostalgic about my smash hype :’)

Throughout the whole Smash segment I was thinking “Alright this should be done soon and then they can move on to some other stuff” but then it just kept going and going and then all of a sudden it was over and I was pretty disappointed. But, generally aside from most of it being smash, what they showed was good, I just wished they showed more games, for example the Yoshi game

Emrys Wledig Young link has the same attacks as link in smash bros ultimate, the only thing that separates him Apart is bombs are different, has fire arrows, and has a hookshot. He’s faster and he’s not a floaty character like toon link.

Why focus so much on Smash? I get it, the game is amazing and I'm definitely gonna buy it but c'mon Nintendo, show us other games. Even if it's just teasers for the games you are releasing next year or other new projects. We didn't need a whole freaking Smash tutorial on your E3 direct, leave that to the treehouse. I hate to say it, but I'm disappointed, and I'm sure many other Switch owners also are.

Smash looks amazing, but no Metroid Prime 4, no Bayonetta 3, no No More heroes, no Yoshi game, no Anaimal Crossing, no Gamecube/Wii HD remasters or More Wii U Ports, (I was really hoping for Super Mario Maker, the Zelda HD remasters, The Wonderfull 101 and Super Mario 3D World for Switch), no Pickmin 4, no Retro game (the rumored Star Fox space racer), or the other rumored titles, no Mario Odyssey or BotW DLC, no new secrets or big third party suprices announced and revealed, no news on the Switch online system, and what will happen with the Virtual console, or stuff like Netflix and a browser for the Switch? I mean Nintendo your games and the Switch is amazing, but more or less focusing only on Smash for your entire Direct at E3, is just letting fans down, who are interested in other stuff than just Smash. Just a few trailers, teasers and dates for some of the mentioned stuff would have been more than enough. Oh well, I'll guess I'll have to keep waiting for a Super Mario Galaxy 1/2 Switch HD remaster.
