Nikon 55-200mm f/4-5.6 VR DX Review
In this Nikon 55-200mm f/4-5.6 VR DX review, I’ll be showing you this popular kit lens from 2007-2015. The lens in this video is from 2007, and it was a major part of my journey back into photography in 2007. Although it's a very basic lens, this 50-200mm lens does feature vibration reduction (which is what the “VR” stands for), which does a lot to compensate for its poor maximum aperture, allowing you to take handheld photographs at reasonably slow shutter speeds.
If you’re newer to photography, and/or you’re on a budget, and you’re using a Nikon DX SLR, I think the Nikon 55-200mm f/4-5.6 VR DX lens is a solid option, but I’d check out the newer version of the lens first. I would not recommend getting it for a full-frame Nikon, because the lens will only use a small portion of your sensor.
If you have any questions about the lens or the photos in my video, let me know in the comment section and I’ll try to get back to you. Thanks!

Thanks Tom, good advice for what I was looking for
I love this lens. I would put up against my other Nikon tele zooms (70-210mm D and 80-200mm G) any day and the VR is a great plus. The optics are outstanding for what you pay for. You said the most important thing, learn to work with what you have. An expensive, fast lens will not make you a better photographer.
I have a nikon d3200 is it a compact 55-200mm VR lens? Thank you.
Hey, thanks for the video, man.
Is it worth buying in 2020, I am a beginner.
The manual focus ring on mine is stuck. Is it worth repairing?
Between this 55-200 and 70-300 af-p vr... which one has the best image quality?
Would this work auto on a d5200 thanks
I have a Nikon d3300. I am interested in the nikon 18-140mm vr lens and the nikon 55-200mm vr lens. Which one do you think will be better? I have 50mm 1.8 for a portrait. I would like a portrait lens with a longer focal length, and I have the opportunity to buy these lenses inexpensively. They are the same price.
Sir is it fit for canon 3000d?
Weight is not build quality.
The subjects look stretched with pics from this lens.
