I had problems with the toe box being so low on the original and also my toes rubbing on the small outsole triangle tip that folds back over. When combined with the Vaporweave that was non conforming I had to go a size up from normal to be able to wear them over a marathon distance. This new upper design with the reinforcement looks the goods to me and should make the toes feel a lot more comfortable. Hopefully I can go back to my normal size with this version.

Good vlog, like the slight change in format! I am a big Next% fan, so glad they havent changed the midsole. Not had a problem with the upper, so wont rush to get these (birthday discount in June possibly), especially as I dont have many races before then!! Also got the Pro's, they don't feel so fast but not race tested yet, though I did do a very quick solo 10 mile (virtual race) in them just 10 days after a (proper) marathon in December, so that is very encouraging, cant wait to test them properly in an actual race (probably a half).

Would either these or the original model a good trainer for a sprinter like myself? Also I should add I run in the Brooks Ravenna 11 as a stability shoe to give you an idea to reference.

I just bought these shoes, and I can’t wait to get them, do they do good on track too or only roads??

Is it normal for a bit of your arch to hang over the midsole of this shoe? I went TTS, toe box feels fine but it just feels like my mid foot is barely hanging on.

Great review - bought the Nike Air Zoom Tempo Next% for my first ever half marathon this May, found them great but bought these Vaporfly 2s in aurora green this morning this see if they can up the pace!

Jus purchased the Brooks Hyperion Elite 2s about a week ago. Best running shoe for me to date. Has the lovely bounce of a carbon fiber plate in addition to the durability of a daily trainer. I am interested in trying the Next%2 for comparison though. Very nice looking shoe. Mainly curious on how long they'll last with wear and tear. I tried the alphaflys out and noticed minor but immediate wear on the bottom after one long run. I hope these aren't the same case.

Hi! I’ve found the Vaporfly and Alphafly to be OK on durability. You do get superficial wear straight away like you say, and the midsole gets creases, but the actual performance holds up well. I’ve done 400kn plus on an old pair of Vaporflys and they look dreadful but still run well haha

Nice color - where did you get those white ones? In Germany I can see only grenn/ white-red?!

Always ended up with extensor tendonitis after running in the original next% in any distances longer than a HM. never had a problem in any other shoe including the alphafly. Hopefully the slightly more padded tongue will help with this. Managed to grab an aqua pair this morning so will find out soon!

QQ… I just got these and on they fit perfect and felt great but squashed my big toenail on the first run! Do they get better with wear or should I try something else?

Thx for the review! Agree that the most important change is the price. Here in China, it retails for around 180 pounds, which is a steal IMO. I know a lot of people love the flyknit material, but any idea how it would perform when it rains? Vaporweave may not be that breathable but it’s water repellent. On the other hand, I think flyknit gets really uncomfortable and heavy when it gets wet. Feel free to correct me if I am wrong though.

Hi! I agree the old style flyknit would get pretty waterlogged yeah, but this new knit on this shoe and the Alphafly seems to drain pretty well. I did a half marathon in the Alphafly in awful weather, had to splash through a massive puddle three times haha, the upper was fine that day!

Interesting that in an Olympic year the updates are fairly minor and more about fit & the upper than performance and the sole. Maybe an Alphafly update is due pre-Tokyo but many elites still seem to prefer the Vaporfly. Do you think we're seeing the performance gains from carbon fibre shoes topping out already?

I think that most brands counted on the Olympics last year and launched the new shoes. Since they haven't had many races to show them off with the pandemic, and not all of the carbon shoes were easy to get, I expect this year's updates to be fairly minor. This is a risk-free approach from Nike I think, popular shoe, minor change and price drop, less risky than overhauling it!

Thanks for the review. Has the midsole thickness changed at all? Nike site says "more ZoomX," but not clear relative to what.

Nice, which marathon are you doing? At the moment I'm doing around 80-100km a week, with speed sessions on Wednesday, some kind of speedy run on Friday/Saturday, plus long run Sunday. Then easy/steady stuff the rest of the days bar Monday, when I cycle indoors. I'm on Strava if you want more details, but it gets pretty boring - just maps of me running small loops in industrial estates near me haha. And thanks on the 2:30!

What brand socks are you wearing? been looking for something similar for awhile now

I had issue on the heel, feeling loose like running with flip flops

I wish Nike would restock the proto colorway.

What's your thoughts on these, compared to Alphafly Next%? I've had a couple of pairs of Vaporfly but not tried Alpafly's as yet. Usually do half marathons, as opposed to marathons, and got back to back half marathons lined up currently for several weeks in September/ October. Will be running my next marathon in April 2022 hopefully. Not sure what to do in terms of next purchase, haha

Hi, so I prefer the Alphafly myself, but know a few runners who got it and went back to the Vaporfly. It's bigger, bit stranger, but I love it. At £50 more if you're enjoying the Vaporfly there probably isn't enough of a difference over a half marathon to justify that extra outlay, even if you did prefer the Alphafly. By next April, could be even more carbon shoes to pick from for your marathon haha

The Speedo LZR swimsuit was deemed to provide an unfair advantage to the wearer by FINA, which led to a ban on all swimsuits of a similar nature. Shame IAAF does not do the same with carbon plate running shoes?

Thank you for the great review. I can confirm the new shoes are slightly heavier (my size 10 went from 196gr to 209gr). How fast can your run? :) alternate km at 3:20min/km with km at 3:50? (wow, that is fast!) what kind of training session is that?

Thanks! And thanks for the info on your shoe weight, good to know! That session should have been alternating 3:30/4 per K haha, pacing was tricky because of some GPS ups and downs. It's more or less a km at marathon pace with a km float recovery, it's one my coach often sets about 10 days out from a marathon :)

Will you guys have a long term review of the Adios Pro? These Vaporflys are priced too much where i live at..

Great review as always. I can get the original version for about the same price as the new ones. Should I get them or wait for 2nd version? Only concern is availability. Hmm, probably not for me! The upper wasn’t bad on first for me, I know some runners had problems with it, but prob a minority! Unless the new colour is much nicer of course haha

I get rubbing on top of my toes on one foot. How flexible is the material compared to next% 1 or is the toe box less shallow? Thanks.

Material is softer I feel and the reinforced section keeps it off your toes a bit more, so toebox seems roomier. Hopefully will be an improvement for you

What is the Apple Watch running app you use here?

I'd usually go for Adidas but my frustration with not being able to buy the Adios Pro is pushing me toward Nike. Haven't quite convinced myself to part with £200+ for race shoes yet but if Adidas don't sort something soon ...

I ran my first marathon in the Next % and they felt kinda snug in the toe box in a size 10 (my normal size), i would definitely go half size up in those if buying today. Do you think there is enough space in these to wear a size 10? Would you recommend sizing a marathon shoe slightly snugger or roomier?

Not necessarily. It is generally a good thing to have room for your toes to splay naturally and not be bunched up. So room to wiggle but you can find this room in shoes your correct size. People may go half a size up if a brand's shoes come up narrow or smaller. Or if they intend to run very long distances/durations where the feet can swell. But we're talking marathon and beyond really.

Hi Nick, right now is a limited edition of the "Kipchoge's" Vaporfly Next%2 in a very nice color, red/white, the same he wore on NN marathon mission recently. Like that design so I'm really thinking to give a try to Vaporfly next%2. I haven't got Next%1, so not aware of the feeling from running in Vaporfly Next% lineup. I've got Saucony Endorphin Pro, primarily for racing, do you really recommend that it's worth to go for Next%2? is it so great feeling that except Alphafly this is like "the best choice" for e.g. half-marathon and marathon race? your advice is a very appreciated and helpful to make a right decision :) Thanks a lot, Peter from Slovakia

Hi Peter. That is a very nice colour haha. So I rate the Endorphin pro very highly, about the same as the Vaporfly, but I think the general feeling out there is that people prefer the Vaporfly NEXT%. It's a fantastic shoe and if you do get it I'm pretty sure you will not be disappointed. I prefer the Alphafly but only just! The Vaporfly is still a brilliant marathon and half marathon shoe that I ran a lot of PBs in, while also being as good as anything out there for 5k and 10k. It's tough as you already have a great shoe in the Endorphin, but you will almost certainly love running in the Vaporfly. Almost everyone does!

​@@TheRunTesters Thank you so much Nick :) Yeah, color is really nice, actually not white as mentioned, but Nike call it "Glacier Blue/Chile Red/Pale Ivory/Black :) Tough decision which shoe to take for the marathon race finally :) As I love Endorphin Speed, have already 2 pairs of the Speed so great training shoe complementary to Endorphin Pro :). I'd say I've been like pretty resistant to Nike shoes for years, but something is telling me that maybe the time has come to try Vaporfly Next%2 in that interesting color as it "caught my eye" :) Btw, I expect you're gonna test new Speed 2 :) I'm wondering pretty much how it is versus Speed 1 :) and one Like your reviews very much! and one more compliment, I like SOAR All weather Jacket, I've learned from your running jackets video and really going to buy in September. James Ballard, from SOAR customer service, told me it's going to come out in September, new All weather Jacket. Seems like the best and I think it's worth to invest in one versatile and the best jacket and like that it's more like T-shirt, not a bulkier or baggy, thicker jacket :) All the Best. @@TheRunTesters Nick if can ask you one thing more, what do you think about brand new Asics Metaspeed Sky and Edge, though Edge is just about to come out in June maybe. But, ate least what's your view, first impressions on MetaSpeed Sky? Could be Vaporfly Next% "racing rival"? :) Regarding Jackets, I was used to run in winter in older Gore R7 Zip-off Windstopper, which is like technical garment/shirt, but lighweight, jacket/shirt hybrid, where even sleeves can be put off so long sleeve and short sleeve like 2 in 1 garment. That's why I'm looking for something similar and SOAR All weather jacket is similar concept, but expect even better in terms of breathability and functionality, more versatile. Thanks a lat again for our your time/views/advice!!! All the best with running! :)

Unfortunately I still haven’t got the Asics shoes! Very keen to get testing, I will hopefully get the Sky next week. I’ve heard good things but can’t say yet I’m afraid - Mike has them though and has just popped up his first impressions vid this evening :)

They sounded noisy when you were running. I'm currently running Nike Tempo Next % and I sound like a herd of elephants running down the esplanade and want my next pair to be on the quieter front. Are these as bad in terms of noise? Thanks.

Ordered both colourways Aqua and Silver\White using birthday discount code. One to keep strictly for racing and one to use for key training sessions. I like the changes over V1 but very similar. Can’t see how they hope to sell V1.0 unless people are real vapour weave die hards. Got 200+ miles in V1 but they’ve lost some ‘pop’ 👟👍

Hi Adam! You could do, but they're not really best for that. They're not the most durable shoes and you'll find more comfortable, long-lasting options at a much lower price. The Vaporfly is best saved for races and key speed sessions in training really.

Good review. Definite buy for me as the upper was the only think I did not like about the shoe. No release that I saw today in the US. :(

These minor updates do not convince me even with the lower price. My favourite remains the Adios Pro followed by the Endorphin Pro

Don’t have the Adios pro but as far as I know they are much stiffer then the next % which means your feet were probably been more beaten up after one Marathon

Nothing compares to the Vaporflys for me best race day shoe on the market ! Endorphins Pros biggest disappointment for me - selling them after 20 miles - terrible shoe ( my shoe of the year Saucony endorphin speeds too)

Oddly you're a heel striker (Slow the speed down on the playback) and you clearly see it. This shoe is designed for midstrike

Watched this vid then got lucky and got a steal in the same colorway for $110

Can you put these in the washing machine for a clean?

No way, they released the proto colorway on the 28th of last month in the US, and it was $225 USD. It seems Nike missed the deadline for the upcoming release of the aqua and the white colorway of vaporfly next 2. The version 1 still costs $250. So far a few sizes of mango and blue ribbon colorway are available to cop.

horrible shoes. Unstable, bad durability in fact after 2 weeks, running 60 km ,the heel started peeling off. Not recommended
