READ MY REVIEW: thatfitfriend.com/nike-free-m...
The Nike Free Metcon 4 is the latest training shoe in the popular Metcon line. I ordered these the day they came out and have been putting through a variety of tests.
If you're a fan of the Nike Free model line, then I think you're going to like this model. At first, I actually wasn't sure if I enjoyed this training shoe, but over time, it's grown on me and I'm continuing to find things that I enjoy about it.
In this Nike Free Metcon 4 review, I break down all of the key details you need to know about this training shoe.
0:00 Free Metcon 4 Pros
1:27 Free Metcon 4 Cons
3:40 Performance
6:00 Is this model worth it?
6:25 Sizing & Fit
7:00 Price
7:46 Construction
9:49 Takeaway Thoughts
I think once you get past the initial break-in period with the upper construction, then this shoe starts to feel much better.
If you've worn the Nike Free Metcon 3s, then you can expect a similar feeling with this model sans the reworked upper construction.
I've been personally really enjoying this model for agility and plyometric work and that's all due to the Nike Free technology and how maneuverable it makes the forefoot.
If you're thinking about this model, then I'd definitely recommend trying it on beforehand if you can or going a half size up to ensure it fits well.

Recently bought the Free Metcon 3’s for HIIT Bootcamp style workouts (F45) & love them for cardio days there once broken in. As cardio days there is a mix of HIIT, agility, & some weights. They are ok for lifting days there as it’s not that heavy but I can still tell a much improved stability difference in my NanoX’s on lifting days there & in my usual lifts in the gym. These guys are PERFECT for your HIIT style workouts & everything in between. And yes, they do feel narrow on me- I have to wear thin socks.

Hi Jake, been watching your videos and they are awesome. Have been trying to decide between the metcon free 4 and the on cloud x shoes specifically for plyometrics, burpees and other jumping related exercises. My training consists of High intensity workouts, running and weights (I have separate lifting shoes for squats/deadlifts which I always carry with me). I also do tend to enjoy a run after some of my workouts (around 10km on the theeadmill). Great question - I think in this case try them on before just to be sure (I have a slightly similar foot structure, btw!). At times, the last for men and women's shoes can be slightly different depending on the brand - in this case it might not be - but I also don't want you to invest in a pair of shoes that don't fit well. I think if you went a half size up it would be a safe bet, however, if you can try them on first that will be your best bet. I believe Finish Line and Dick's are getting them in in the next two weeks (at least that's what I was told on the phone), so if you can hold off to try them on at a store near you, I would do that!

Would be safe, but when going a full size up I'd always suggest trying them on in-store if possible to make sure there's no heel slip issues! Yes, somewhat similar fit to the SuperRep! Any shot you can try them on beforehand if you're sizing up a full size?

@@thatfitfriend Hi! I am new to training (3 months in) also trying to decide between the two. Currently towards the Metcon free 4 -- as I take strength training classes where we do 15 mins warm-up/stretches, 20 minutes of lifting, and 20 minutes of speed circuit. My max 1-rep lifts are far from 250, I'm in the 150-190 range. Any thoughts or different recommendations? I'm sure anything is better than the running shoes I'm wearing right now 🤣

They're pretty good! Best relative to what? I think this model can be best for some folks, but best is always contextual. For example, if you have narrower feet and like to blend lighter lifting + HIIT, then this model does a solid job.

I am so sick with Nike making shoes that are too tight, just like these and the Turbos. As customers we should not have to worry about size that much when picking shoes. I have one same size for the Metcon Free 2 & 3 and the Metcon 4, 5 & 6. Then the Turbos were way too tight using that same size - you cannot move your toes at all - and no, I do not have wide feet, just normal ones. Now watching this review I am really not compelled to even try the Metcon Free 4. Fine. I will keep my money until Nike fixes all these sizes issues.
