My exact thought. Especially when knowing the mother had a sketchy boarder who argued with her about moving in his boyfriend. Sadly, the victim was a woman with financial needs or she would not have taken in a lodger. In my experience, the more money one has, the more people keep in touch! They show their devotion with daily phone calls, visits, etc.. Less or no money… you don’t need to do that. What for? That person is only going to die with debts.

We had a divorced neighbor lady who rented out the 3 extra bedrooms in her home and she did it for years. She went through the local community college where foreign students (potential renters) were vetted. She had students from Japan, China, Indonesia and Saudi Arabia over the years and it worked out great for her. They paid her for room and board (she provided and prepared their meals) and they had their own rooms but were welcome throughout her house. If they had guests they were either visiting family members(who could stay for a couple nights) or other students who never stayed over night. She really enjoyed those kids, they were funny and respectful. I don't remember her ever mentioning problems because they were either in classes or in their room studying, some had part time jobs. On occasion, on a weekend night a group of their friends from college would stay till late listening to music, playing video games or watching movies in the rec room, but never expected to sleep over. She was payed in advance for a predetermined amount of time through the organizing agency at the college. That said, she'd never have welcomed a random person off craigslist or the internet, so there was a level of security.

that's entirely different; students know what the score its. This was a socially awkward man that was gay and was going to have overnight guests no matter what. When I went to uni, loads of us from abroad stayed in rooms and had positive experiences. I was an adult, so I had my own place...simple as that. Own place, own rules.

Rental laws for individual rooms in a private home should be on the side of the homeowner….if the homeowner is not comfortable it’s only reasonable the tenant leave, they have no right to continue victimising the landlord in their own private space, especially when no rent is being paid.

@@ozzeelady6029 I totally agree with your feelings and sentiments….I just feel that when a room in a private home is let to an individual then the personal space and the feelings of the homeowner must be respected, if this is not possible for whatever the reason the tenant must leave within a short notice period even if they are to be homeless.Maybe the law for buy to let properties has strict rules for the tenants but when your just a lodger those rules seem very harsh for individuals who just want a to improve their domestic finance. The case that we are talking about is truly horrendous , to be carrying on in her house, disrespecting her and the wicked and callous nature after her murder, I hope they got the same treatment in prison.

Because the bedroom window for the top bedroom which Marc rented isn't in full view of other houses. It was a kind of skylight. There was a garden gate on one side with a small alley, a high fence blocked view into the garden and the window wasn't clearly visible. If David were climbing up there it would have been fairly easy to get in and out without being seen- especially in the Uk in winter when it gets dark early. Source: friend of mine was a tenant of Antonietta's around a year/18 months before all this happened. Visited the house and spent time in the bedroom. A slender man could climb in and out relatively easily. Someone as big as Marc would have got stuck.

@@firefly88887my mother missed covid by 6 and a half years. But by then she was more or less self housed and not much would have changed for her. She stayed in her master suite the beautiful Riverview anyway and her own bath so it would have been quite easy for us to come and bring in groceries prepare her meals in the kitchen and just social distanced and masked. I think we, as a family who had endured many tragedies and sorrows, likely would have coped just fine. It's always our sense of humor that got us through everything that happened, and second to that would always be the consistent acknowledging of the pain the individuals were feeling. In that way our family was pretty good at understanding each other and in tune with how we dealt with things emotionally. That said I do understand how the covid months of lockdown and separation would have been much more difficult. My sister and my niece lived two towns away and I will never forget the beautiful spring day in May of 2020 when we kept hearing a car horn, finally looking out the front window, there they were having driven the 20 minutes, holding up a huge sign saying"we miss you and are hugging you right NOW REALLY REALLY hard!!! We still have that poster board sign because it's not only is it history, it will always be part of the history of our family. Fifty years from now those of us still unborn will cherish it I hope, as I hope some of us will still be here to remember and talk about it. I think Antonietta and her son and daughter and grandchildren would have done okay. But as soon as she could I know she would have hugged those precious grandchildren. And to think that tow selfish, narcissistic infantile adults, grown men despite all their issues, had the right to just take over what this woman had earned her whole life, steal it from her and steal her from her loved ones based on nothing but impulse, misplaced resentment, laziness and self-entitlement at an incredible level. Sorry didn't mean to go on so long, lol!

Renting rooms within your house is dangerous especially if you are a lady! I’ve done it and I’ve had some horrific experiences! Once I had rented to someone who had escaped from high security mental hospital! Once I let this guy in on Christmas Eve feeling sorry for him, he paid deposit and a month rent… I left to go to a family for Christmas Day… I returned 2 days later he was gone! There was a broken glass ashtray and evidence of a struggle! I couldn’t get hold of the guy and I can only assume the one who had escaped from mental hospital had attacked him and the poor guy made a run for the hills!!! It took another week to realise there was something not right with him after he spent all day smashing things in the room and arguing with imaginary people and I called police to remove him! On arrival police recognised him and told me the truth! I was petrified!

How can you put the facts to a jury of people who are basically ignorant of the process and totally ignorant of the psychology of murder? They will make more mistakes then not. This was a definite mistake and the prosecution should have appealed the verdict on the grounds of the trial judge disallowing evidence of a jailhouse confession and other evidence from friends as hearsay.

That doesn’t make any sense. The US is punitive when it comes to crime, yet the prisons are full. Doesn’t seem like a deterrent to me.

Very sad what these ruthless scumbags did to this poor lady. It's also very disturbing and sickening to me to read some of the comments on here, basically putting blame on her kids because they "allowed" their mother to take in a lodger. Some people have a very twisted way of thinking.

This one is one of the most painful to see, to realize what happened (and how) to a decent, friendly elderly woman, a trusting "foreigner" in England. The tenant's stupidity, falseness and ridiculousness was glaring in this video. Whether because of being from a generally more sociable country (i.e. Italy) she didn't pick up on how dense, clumsy, awkward, false the tenant was, to watch this as someone who basically knows what's normal and what stands out, on seeing the tenant enter with his mother, a substantial "heads-up" is experienced by the viewer. If one of the landlady's offspring had been present for the interview, the landlady would have, no doubt, been advised not to rent to that dork. The landlady would have rented to someone else and would have gone onbto enjoy her life, her family and her friends. Oh, God, the tragic things that happen to good people at the hands of, besically, defective, deficient souls and selves.

this comment section is so full of victim blaming and its so strange. why are so many people saying that women just shouldnt do anything because theyre targets? "why would you rent out a room to someone? you cant trust people! women are at risk!" why are people blaming her children, and whats more: the MURDER VICTIM, for the fact that someone killed her?? it's like someone saying "you shouldnt have been wearing that" when someone gets raped and killed. fucking deplorable, all of you saying such.

I loved all of it. The upstairs verandah was my favourite. Thank you. Tell her to come to my house. When i was her age i renovated a run down house. And it too looked beautiful. I appreciate her energy and dedication. I am now a bit too old to do these things but love watching other's building projects. Thank you. This was just amazing and spell binding to watch. ❤❤

The amount of adverts during this episode was ridiculous, approximately 1 every 5 minutes. Very annoying and completely spoiled the story. What happened to respect for the deceased? Ads are trying to make money on the back of a tragedy

Both pieces of crap!!!! David is clearly a person who has got away with blaming things on his disabilities, which is a learned behaviour! Adhd doesn't cause you to forget. Your memory can be bad but not forgetting things like this, its disgusting he got away with it! Has someone with adhd and a mother of 4 children with autism, adhd, ocd, dyslexia and my youngest has type one diabetes. This has no baring on this sick and twisted action! He did this because he was evil just like his bf! When he is out are they going to place him in full time of an adult?? Because according to the law he doesn't seem to be responsible for himself! But that wont happen he will be left to do as he likes! A broken system, that fails victims! My heart goes out to this family.
