Really nice overview. One thing I like about this game is that even though there is conflict, it's not very punishing. It's not as if you'll be devastated if you lose a battle or two. And when you lose a conflict your followers go into limbo, where they can then be used to help you move up the ritual track. (Also, I think there may be a dream card that allows you to score VP when you lose a battle.) The conflict mechanic is also interesting in that the active player can choose to initiate a conflict that they're not even involved in (i.e., other player vs other player, or other player vs shadow). I agree with you that building the actual cathedral isn't technically "necessary" for gameplay. For me, however, I think it adds a lot to the overall look of the game and am happy that it's been included.

I agree with you can get lost in the moving parts of a turn…could almost do with a special ‘active’ card holder containing a tracker to step through the mini steps, the action that involves holding up to 3 battles seems particularly open to missed opportunities/housekeeping occurring. And it would be good if the cathedral did have an active role outside of a time tracker. Does look a fun game tho. Thanks for the play and review, good stuff.
