I love watching cobbler clips! As a kid my mom went to cobblers to fix leather purse straps, take in belts, and fix heels. The cobbler would let me take home leather scraps, it wasn’t anything special but I thought it was neat.

My Mother was one of the only three female shoe repair shop owner/operators in the United States and the only one West of the Mississippi up until she retired in 1981. I had the pleasure of working with my Mom in our shop (The Cobblers Bench) and learning the trade under her guidance as a child and young adult. But like a harness maker or blacksmith, the shoe repair industry as declined to the point of almost being non-existent.

So true, my fiance & I were just talking about the time when ppl would go to their local shoe/boot repair shop to have their footwear re-soled & repaired & how much that trade is almost non-exitent in America nowadays. I remember the last time my mom had a beautiful pair of dress shoes heel repaired back in the early 1980's & it's sad that shop closed up before 1989 & I haven't seen another around in my area since then. But, that distinct memory is etched forever in my bank of memories & I treasure it.

Part of the problem is our throw away culture. People don't value quality anymore. They go to Walmart and see cheap "shoes" for $30 and think those are typical shoes. They wear out in a year or so of regular use then they toss them and get a new pair and repeat. My great, great grandfather began a boot factory in New Hampshire about 130 years ago. He came from Natick Massachusetts famous for the shoe industry going back to the early 1700's. Unfortunately the factory did not stay in business more than a few decades so they were gone by the time my Dad was born. My original ancestor in my Dad's line was a "cordwainer." My cousins are still in the business of handmaking shoes in New England. So I personally have an appreciation for the art though personally I got involved in metal work instead. But I have the good fortune to have inherited several pairs of shoes that are now over a century old and still wearable. While I don't know enough about the trade to go into business myself I do know enough to do some of my own repairs and more than enough to recognize quality craftsmanship when I see it. I have found one source in a surprising place. So far I have accumulated 11 pairs of quality shoes hand made the old fashioned way from of all places, thrift stores. So in all I own 23 old pairs of hand crafted shoes and boots of many styles and could no be happier. Unfortunately the places available to service my shoes are fewer and fewer. But I do live fairly close the the cobbler in this report and have had two pairs repaired by them and am extremely happy.

That person you see buying those pair of cheap boots is me... You're right that they wear out in a year or less. Unfortunately those boots are all this Veteran can afford. I have a pair of red wings I loved so much but the soles didn't last that long (I still have the pair). A nice woman who volunteers to feed the homeless gave me a pair of her shoes. Unfortunately those shoes were low cut. I've twisted my ankles so many times playing sports growing up. That I buy those cheap boots that are ankle high. I'm old enough now that all my sports injuries, military drills, etc has caught up to me. 😀✌️

Its declined because there are more people who do not have the extra money to spend on Cobblers. But this is not really a decline as much as it is a changed market and changed industry. There are few people with a lot of money in the market like hand made boots that the cobblers are able specialize and personalize their labor to high end work. Very lucrative business that is small and yet big enough to get a piece of the action all hangs on how good your designs are.

Regarding Boeing's statement, remember that they said something similar about the MAX. 2 easily preventable fatal crashes in recent years, killing hundreds of people, might cast some doubt on their words. The only way Boeing can be really believed is if they can directly address why the specific complaint isn't something to worry about. Simply saying it's okay, when the complaint is related to wear and tear with a specific alleged flaw, isn't addressing the concern.

Over the past 10 years, Boeing has given the impression that sales and marketing are far more important than engineering. "These issues do not present any safety concerns" is a statement from marketing, sales, and public relations. Given Boeing's performance and safety issues over the past decade, this statement has no credibility what-so-ever. When engineers have concerns that the aircraft might break apart in flight, these concerns must be taken seriously and not simply kicked to public relations. There must be objective and unbiased testing and an examination of test data conducted by a third-party in the absence of pressure from Boeing marketing and sales. It must be done right.

0:55 (and 9:33) "....Israel strike back?...." HECK Israel attacked at the Iran Embassy, about three Missiles hit, then Iran counter attacked and about three Missiles got thru Israel Defences. As I see it the "SCORE" is now 1 to 1 (One Attack for Israel "ALREADY", and One Attack for Iran). Israel greatly needs to let this battle with Iran DROP, don't start a new Rounds of attacks and counter attacks, followed by counter-counter attacks, then counter-counter-counter attacks, and get back instead to Focusing on their Battles with "Terrorist Group Hamas"!

Ticketmaster and Live Nation. They've done NOTHING to keep ticket prices low for the consumer. I worked in the concert business for years and their actions are nothing more than finding a way to milk every last cent from a concert goer who wants to see their favorite artist. Yes, some performers have a high overhead for the production of their show, and yes, prices charged do reflect this, but I still find it difficult to understand why "Service Charges" for tickets vary between artists. You're simply creating a digital ticket (and some printed of course) for the sale of the ticket, and why should that process not be a flat fee for every artist. It's the same process. Ticketmaster and Live Nation will have you believe that the process is different for different artists, and they're forced to charge different fees. That's complete Bullsh*t. They use this as an excuse to pocket more fees for themselves. And they've gotten away with it for years and completely monopolized the industry. But they know they can charge anything they want, as the concert goer will pay almost anything to see their favorite artist.

I am okay with going to the United States Supreme Court. I am in need of a lawyer to represent me, in regards to having my adoption nullified/vacated. I was adopted. The emotional, mental, physical and verbal abuse started on the first day. I am not disputing the legal system/judge's decision on having me removed from the first group of people, and don't want that custody or authority to be given back to my biological relatives or their relatives. On the first day of being in my adopted parents house, my first and fifth Amendments, freedom, civil rights, human rights and civil liberties were taken away.

To be fair, that shows bias. No juror who shows blatant bias should be chosen as a juror in any trial. They won’t be impartial. That isn’t how a trial is supposed to be. As for Hillary, she has done many underhanded and manipulative things. I have never voted Republican, so this isn’t from a place of political bias.
