Night King's New Body? Jon Snow? Ice and Fire Endgame Theory

Ойын-сауық

The evidence is accumulating - that's an accumulating Snow joke - the Others are going to come steal Jon's body, they're going to use him to lead their invasion of the Others... and they might be planning to fill it with the spirit of Night's King - the original one - who may be lurking in the weirwoodnet somewhere (this would be the Great Other). Detailed foreshadowing of all of this, right here!

    I think Stoneheart will play a role in Jon's 'true' resurrection too. It'd make a nice way to wrap up Berric's fire of life plot thread and also a satisfying end to Catelyn's story arc; after she's had her revenge on the Frey's and restored Riverrun to Tully control (her 'unfinished business'), atoning for the injustice she committed in life. At least, I feel like Cat has some big role to play in the story, and that the animosity between her and Jon was played up a lot, and that it's going to have some payoff. In any case, with how vocal George is about his views on death and resurrection in fiction, it'll no doubt be one of the ways the books differ from the show majorly. On tenterhooks here waiting for your next vid!

  • @DavidLightbringer

    @DavidLightbringer

    Жыл бұрын

    i don't see how LSH and Jon get in the same location, LSH isn't leaving the riverlands IMO. And no, the animosity wasn't played up in the books at all, it was more so in the show, and then even more so in the fandom, it's a very minor plot point

    @@DavidLightbringer I usually agree with you, but I've been thinking about this theory for quite a while now, and I do think it could happen. Lady Stoneheart might hear rumors about Arya reaching the Wall (whether it's actually Jeyne Poole or Alys Karstark, it doesn't really matter), and ride there after avenging the Red Wedding in TWOW. Arya won't be at the Wall, of course, but Bran might be there after surviving the Others' assault at Bloodraven's lair thanks to Hodor's sacrifice. Bran would then reveal the truth about Jon's parentage to Lady Stoneheart, who would finally overcome the shame and pain that the idea of Ned's infidelity caused her, being able to love Jon enough to give him the Kiss of Life, sacrificing her own life for his. It would be a beautiful, seriously unpredictable ending for Lady Stoneheart, so it makes sense in regards to George's poetic, subversive writing. What sold this theory to me is Ned Stark's prayer in Bran's vision: "Let them grow up close as brothers, with only love between them. And let my lady wife find it in her heart to forgive". George could have written "let my wife forgive" and it would still work as literal foreshadowing, but the fact that he chose to include the very specific words "LADY" and "HEART" turns the sentence into a subtle reference to Lady Stoneheart. The absence of the word "stone" might imply that Catelyn will stop being Lady Stoneheart after forgiving Ned's alleged infidelity, since the heart of this lady will no longer be made of stone. It is true that Catelyn's hatred towards Jon is mostly a thing from the show, but we don't need Catelyn to hate him that much for this theory to work. It's more about her finding peace by knowing that her beloved husband never betrayed her, so she was never actually dishonored as a woman. Lady Stoneheart's actual hatred and thirst for revenge would then be redeemed coherently, by one last good deed. And I think it fits perfectly with Jon too, since he would be resurrected by the love of the mother he never had, fulfilling an honest prayer made by the man who swore to protect him. Ned isn't his father and Catelyn isn't his mother, but they are his family, and both of them are still taking care of him even in death. Whether this ends up happening or not, I think Catelyn needs to do much more than just killing the Freys. Beric Dondarrion was resurrected several times for a purpose, but the man didn't came back after giving the Kiss of Life to Catelyn. This means that the Lord of Light's sole purpose for Beric's resurrections what bringing Catelyn back to life. I don't see R'hllor using Beric to resurrect Catelyn only to avenge the Red Wedding. Why would an actual god give two shits about that? But I do see him resurrecting Catelyn for something truly important, such as giving the Kiss to Jon Snow, the person who will literaly end the War for the Dawn. If she doesn't do this, she needs to do something equally important for her resurrection to make sense.

    Wierwood is a made up word, but it has meaningful parts. The Wier part comes from historic water management, Wier is a word for fish trap, or a structure to manage water levels within a section of stream, or nests for some fish, like salmon, and the last name of a favorite musician of GRRM's. Since I indeed do not have the time at the moment to watch the livestreams, this is more than welcome. Certainly if it's as good as this! This give me some insight on where to go with Jon. As I expect Dany to follow the path of both the BE and AA (who I believe to be the same person, per George's heart-in-conflict duality), and in that order, I also expect that Jon will mimmick the NK and LH (who I believe to be the same person), again in that order. So this was a lot of food for thought. The last minute made me prick up my ears, when talking about pyres and everything, because in one of his dreams Jon thinks that he should one day uproot and burn the weirwood in the heart of Winterfell (Heart of Winter what?). So now I'm definitely looking forward to the next video.

    Very nice video. As one that is able (thx to Garth and ADHD) to enjoy your content at a DELIGHTFUL x2 Speed, I will gladly admit, I may very well be in the one percent when it comes to watching all of the 3+ hour long videos. This content, however, is a delightful bitesize change of pace and a wonderful sharable video to show Friends and Family as I wage my war to getting LML to 100k subscriptions on YT. Be well, prosper, know love and thx for all your hard work ♥

    7:40 a missed strong hint! In our world’s mythology it is sometimes said that if you wear a skin of a strong animal, you gain it’s strength. (Like Dany with the skin of the lion) In darker myths it’s even said that cultures that practiced cannibalism did that to gain that person’s strength and wisdom! I believe something like that is also at the foundation of house Bolton. And at the case of Rattleshirt as well

    i imagine this scene: the others show up outside the wall and just stare and wait. they are close enough to wifi his corpse and boom hes back as an other, this special night king spirit. what if, knowing jon is who he is, they literally have the lord commander simply open the gates and let them through with no fight and its just this super grim scene where theyre basically watching the world end lol. moon meteor is better

    So Azor Ahai’s spirit could’ve taken over ‘Brandon’ Lord Commander Stark’s body and mind during the Long Night with the help and distraction of Corse Queen. She put a spell on him either way.

    Glad to see this one, David. Amazing, you continue to raise the bar for yourself! We have been a bit out of step with saying farewell to old dogs, my geologist wife's father becoming hospice adjacent, and various *other things*. We never could put any plausible geology to Hardhome. Oh well, pesky fictional landscapes. A lot of Middle Earth does not make much geomorphological sense either. Praise Garth!

    I'm a really big fan of the Jon Snow as Night's king theory. An oft not talked about aspect of it at least if its partly done of his free will is that itd add layer of maybe tragedy to a Jon who needs to convive a righteous Dany who's perhaps about to take her fire and blood a bit too far. Do you think Jon is being chosen for a specific reason to be the vassal for the nights king? the nights king could theoretically be put into anyone so why jon? or is jon the only one who could be the vassal?

    Some descriptions from Biblical Revelations also add credence to this theory. "The hair on his head was white like wool, as white as snow, and his eyes were like blazing fire." Jon Snow already has a bunch of Jesus parallels but having the reborn Jon with Targ features lead a White Walker army in the final battle as the Night King would perfectly match this parallel.

    Also just wanna add that your speculation regarding Jon, while potentially shocking, is a great deal more well reasoned and logical than Dany's senseless heel turn in season 8. I am definitely on board with this theory.

    Wonderful video! I'm currently rereading ASoS and I noticed that Jon reflects the Nights King in one of the scenes when the wildlings are sieging the wall. He like the Nights King spies a pale woman from atop the wall. He is looking at Mance's tent with Aemons telescope and spots Val and Dalla On the edge of the Wall an ornate brass Myrish eye stood on three spindly legs. Maester Aemon had once used it to peer at the stars, before his own eyes had failed him. Jon swung the tube down to have a look at the foe. Even at this distance there was no mistaking Mance Rayder’s huge white tent, sewn together from the pelts of snow bears. The Myrish lenses brought the wildlings close enough for him to make out faces. Of Mance himself he saw no sign this morning, but his woman Dalla was outside tending the fire, while her sister Val milked a she-goat beside the tent. Dalla looked so big it was a wonder she could move. The child must be coming very soon, Jon thought. I will definitely be checking out the playlist :)

    Thank you :D If you'd be so kind as to indulge an unrelated question I noticed a snippet from a Clash of Kings I thought was intriguing. Does this excerpt from Sansa (during the battle of the blackwater) read like an early foreshadowing of Brans adventures beyond the wall to you? Through the quiet, the singing pulled at her. Sansa turned toward the sept. Two stableboys followed, and one of the guards whose watch was ended. Others fell in behind them.
