Nigerian President Bola Tinubu Appoints Son-In-Law to Housing Authority | Vantage with Palki Sharma

Nigerian President Bola Tinubu Appoints Son-In-Law to Housing Authority | Vantage with Palki Sharma
Nigerian President Bola Tinubu is facing a fresh scandal. He has appointed his son-in-law as the MD/CEO of Nigeria's Federal Housing Authority. This comes at the heels of an oil scandal. Tinubu recently withdrew cases Nigeria had filed against European oil firms Eni & Shell. It came months after Eni sold its onshore business to a company headed by Tinubu's nephew. Tinubu has also faced flack over his government's purchase of a Presidential yacht. Will Nigeria continue to prosper under Tinubu's regime? Palki Sharma tells you more.

    What do you mean by unbiased analysis was Tinubu the president that ordered for the yacht? The deal was awarded by president Buhari and it was defended during budget defense by the then chief of Naval staff before Tinubu came to office. Let's be factual and honest though Tinubu is not trying but the Truth remain the Truth

  • @Oluactual

    Unbiased? Maybe they tried, because one can only report within the scope of one's knowledge... The report has its flaws and understandably so because these people are not on ground to know the full picture. The Yatch for instance had been purchased before Tinubu's administration, but it had not been paid for hence why paying for it was included in the supplementary budget... Granted, the administration is not doing very well in terms of cascading dividend of good governance to the person, but if we must report, we should do that accurately... Because for some of us that are knowledgeable about this one issue, seeing that your reporting is not entirely accurate, we might start questioning the accuracy of your other reports...

    @@Oluactual what about the other report. You guys just talking about the yacht. Even if the yachts was not from his administration why couldn’t he drop that from the supplementary budget seeing how the country is moving backwards. There is nothing wrong with this report.

  • @Oluactual

    @Oluactual

    @@georgedylan2782 I don't know if you understand how national budgeting works...? Different Departments, Ministries and Agencies bring forth their supplementary needs, it is the place of the House of Assembly to scrutinize and approve or disapprove on their end, then the president to assent to it to make it law. In this case, the Navy presented their Naval need for a Presidential Yatch for ceremonial purposes (the use of yatch which doesn't have anything to do with the president per say (the seat of FG is in far away Abuja, the Yatch will mostly be in Lagos or South South Region). The House of Assembly rejected it and repurposed the budgeted amount... That is the picture. The President did not request for a Yatch like its made to seem. As per the other issues i can say some of it are speculations, could be right, could be wrong, no hard facts, but if you check my earlier post, the problem is that citizens are not feeling divided of good government, and the administration is not doing enough or seen to be doing enough in that regard...

    As a Nigerian, Thank you for speaking up for us. This is the worst government, nepotism is an understatement. Dishing out government policies without consultation, just few months into his government, the Naira has lost more than 55% to the USD, inflation has more than double. For example a bag of cement sold at 4400NGN by November 2023, now it sales at 9000NGN to 10500NGN. And the government seems to be confuse. The only thing they do is travel to summits with upto 200entourage that has no need to be there.

    I am a Nigerian. I AM ASHAMED of the country's choice of leadership. The country has consistently been plagued by bad leadership. How can a country that calls itself a democracy perpetually opt for thugs who have no intentions of developing the country as their leaders due to tribal sentiments, religious bigotry and weaponized mass poverty. Nigerians have remained their own biggest enemy as I would like to call your attention to the run-away inflation that has plagued the country since Tinubu announced removal of petroleum subsidy on his inauguration, the sliding of the Naira from 550 naira in may 2023 to 2000 naira per USD yesterday and an upsurge of insecurity even in the capital city Abuja. We thought the worst thing that could ever happen to Nigeria was the former president, Mohammadu Buhari, a disillusioned, semi-illiterate who Tinubu helped to grab the reins of the country's administration in 2015; but no, Tinubu, in eight months, has already broken Buhari's records, made Buhari's inefficiency look like child's play and his cluelessness sends Buhari's to the cleaners.

    I’m a Nigerian and I have never voted for the ruling party. It looks as if the politicians in Nigeria 🇳🇬 are in competition of who is the most corrupt person. 1$ is 🟰 1,700 naira after hitting almost 1,900 yesterday (22/02/2024). Cost of living here is very high. This Tinubu has finished the country. Their work now is to crumble opposition political parties even from inside. Looking at what is happening in the L.P, one could say that it is APC’s handwork. Many cannot feed 3 meals daily. People are borrowing millions just to fly to South Africa 🇿🇦. We don’t know the solution. Protest cannot help because Nigerians have been divided along ethnicity and religious lines. May God help us. Thanks a lot firstpost for this post.
