Holy shit, look at all those empty seats in the lower sections of Rich Stadium in Buffalo. Far cry from what that stadium would be like a few years later.

Jim Kelly's arrival in '86 really turned things around re: Bills' fans enthusiasm, though it would take a couple more seasons after that for the winning to start that culminated in their 4 consecutive Super Bowl appearances in the early '90s. kzread.info/dash/bejne/gqebqq2jfdvYmcY.html

This is really great. Do you have any more of these from 1985? Also, do you have any "Inside the NFL" broadcasts from the same year?

Huge win for the Patriots vs the Dolphins. It was this game that really got people believing the Pats might be on to something special in 1985. Which other than Super Bowl XX it was !

Seemed obvious to me, later into the '85 season, that the Bears would not be stopped. It was just their year.

there wasnt many good teams that year...if it was 91 or 92, or 94, the bears wouldnot have won anything....

it was ironic that Jan Stenerud (06:43) played for the Vikings at that time considering 15 years before he played for the KC Chiefs who defeated the Vikings in SB IV

While wiping up the Falcons, rejuvenated qb Joe Theismann had just 2 weeks left in his career before Lawrence Taylor would bring it to a crunching end.

Was there a little foreshadowing during the last Washington TD "if it ain't broke" and shattering play?

Hmm. I commented on the '85 'Skins-Bears game after the pbp guy spoke of the difference between McMahon and Theismann, of how Joe had played for 13(?) years w/o a major injury while Jim was so injury prone, that in 7 weeks his career would be ended by LT. Foreshadowing or just ironic?

Marc Wilson was so awful. The Raiders had everything but a QB. If they had one, they would've gone to the Super Bowl in 85 and contended in 86.

@5:41 "It is unlikely that Gary Anderson will have the staying power of Minnesota kicker Jan Stenerud, who has been in the same league for 19 years." Gary Anderson: "Hold my beer...for 23 years"

Heh...but the one they're talking about was a Chargers RB (#40) who came over from the USFL and played 9 years in the NFL, which is not a bad career for a running back. www.nfl.com/player/garyanderson/2499424/profile

Ah, yes, silly me. Forgot the kicker Anderson was with the Steelers in '85, not the Vikings. Thought that was him with Stenerud but later realized it was QB Wade Wilson.

GARY ANDERSON (the kicker) played from 1982-2004, crazy longevity, even for a kicker.

Damn straight Don, that was so funny as a vikings fan when i heard that lol. Also as a football fan, Superbowl they didnt give the ball to Walter for a TD. As a football fan and a Viking fan i still loved and respected Walter. At that time i knew, like i'm sure you did we were watching a legend. Also after watching this. Warren Moon to me is up there with the greatest QB's that played. He just never got a fair shake and ended up in Canada. Sucks that was the attitudes back then and continuing today.

so my ex teammate Gary was a great athlete . He stood maybe 6 feet tall but I saw him repeadtly without much effort or even one step jump straight up and reverse dunk a basketball. No step just launch up

That was a Monday Night Football game, those tended to make it on to the Week in Review shows only occasionally...don't know if it had to do with network rights to the footage, or there not being enough time to process the film in time to make it onto the show (probably the latter) with the extra day delay...

Im really sorry. I hate the Bengals helmets. I realized before this pattern it just said Bengals. I want some Bengals fans thoughts.Did they just say Gary Anderson in 85? Damn as a Vikings fan I want to sit with him and ask what the hell dude you played your whole fing life to go to the Superbowl and you missed one, one, ONE kick all season and it was the NFC championship game? Why not week 2? Sorry. Im done.

You know it's really bullshit that Viking fans put the blame on Gary for missing out on the SB. Where the F*** was the Wipers defense the rest of the game?

The was a running back who wore number 40 for the San Diego Chargers named Gary Anderson who was Black. Not talking about the Steelers kicker Gary Anderson who 13 years later was with the Vikings.

@@indy_go_blue6048 Thank you! That soft defense let sorry-ass journeyman Chris Chandler move the Falcons 73 yards down the field in less than two minutes as easily as a man walking his dog. Gary Anderson, Randall Cunningham, Randy Moss, and Dennis Green deserved better. Make the stop and close the deal, you pussies. JEEEEEZZ!!!
