Many old Christmas songs are still copyrighted and not in the public domain. You will run the risk if copyright infringement. Better to just add some sleigh bell sounds to your original beat and call it a day! 🎅

Bravo, estaba esperando comprar el Nexus 2, pero me detenía el usb. Nexus 3 tiene buena pinta y es cierto se puede usar para cualquier tipo de música, yo hago Rock Pop y me gustan sus presets. Es algo caro pero creo que con el básico y algunas expansiones es más que suficiente. Lo mejor es su calidad de sonido.

Do all the presets you showed in this video come with the starter edition of nexus 3?

I agree with you about them creating too many sequences that for sure are fun to play with, but at the same time are impossible to use in production. They do the same thing in VPS Avenger. I wish they would just have 3 or 4 sequences in each expansion pack (to show the possibilities) and instead gave us more unique sounds to work with. Thanks for a good video!

@@SanjayC I honestly think it is as good as Nexus. The big difference is that you can actually create your own sounds in Avenger... lots of oscillators that you can layer etc. It's a real synthesizer where Nexus is more of a "rombler" or a sample-playback machine. I love both products but you can be more creative with Avenger. Still, I would be happier without the many sequences and fancy chord progressions done with arpeggiators (I prefer to make my own chord progressions... lol).

I really dislike the right hand leads on the sequences. You can tweak the sequences a lot though after all, I finally diacovered. I usually play right hand leads with another controller and another nexus sound.

the extensions of nexus 3, is it compatible with nexus 2 ? example with the new kshmr extension ?

There are always new expansions coming up, so even if you buy the lowest version, you can pick up expansions later - and get newer ones.

Yes, they are splittable, so they are usable. But I still wish they just split them instead of giving us those sequences.

How do you preview sounds without loading it?? I think mines is turned off and if so how do I turn it back on?

Yes, it has some orchestral voices. I just tried some of them and they are good, but lack some control that serious composers would want - check out NI Symphony Series and Spitfire plugins.

Its the same device and you'll actually get the same software with it.

The new factory sounds are in ROM EXTENSION 2.

Hello everybody does somebody know if you need to have nexus 2 to use the expansion packs of nexus 2 in nexus 3? Have a great day!

I got Nexus 3 and the old sounds are renamed and changed. When i load my old projects (productions) made with Nexus 2 the sounds are missing and can not be loaded anymore. If I load the old Nexus 2 with the old presets and old content it works with no problems. I can not understand why they renamed the old sounds and also delete a lot of it. For example the axel f sound or the folder "XP Vintage Bonus" is gone. Why? I will use the old and new Nexus and it works for me. I have the old content folder Nexus 2 and the new for Nexus 3. When I want to work with the old sounds for Nexus 2 I will use the old "Nexus Content" folder. I thought that when they create a new version of Nexus that all the old sounds are still there. Well I was wrong.

I'm really considering getting Nexus 4 because im just a music hobbyist and don't have much time or care to dive deep into the sound design aspect of many other VSTs. I would be able to budget buying the plugin as well as a few expansion packs that stood out to me (EDM Voices and Hollywood seem amazing for my interests!). Would you recommend this as well to someone who is just a hobbyist who likes to make quick, yet effective songs every now and then? Second question: I hear you need online connectivity and to authenticate your account once a month to keep the plugin working. What happens if you don't authenticate it or connect it once a month? As I said before, I am just a hobbyist and have many other things that I also like to do. There may be times when I don't actually remember to do that. Does that mess everything up after spending hundreds of dollars? Or does it just take a little time to reset the authentication or quick contact to REFX?

Personally I would consider Analog Lab. As a hobbyist analog lab is much cheaper and contains MANY THOUSANDS of presets, a very diverse set of them, including many awesome layers. The main thing that people like about RomPlers like REFX NEXUS is that they have carefully designed layered sounds. The same is true of ANalog Lab, and Falcon and NI KOMPLETE KONTROL vst. REFX used to be even more restrictive and required a hardware dongle, and now they require cloud licensing which requires periodic online checks, but neither Analog Lab (Arturia) nor NI KOMPLETE (Native Instruments) do that. They activate once with your account and stay active on your computer until you deactivate it.

Nexus 3 + 4 expansions, avenger with 2 expansions ( you can also get the sound you like in nexus and then save it and add it in avenger to sound design further if you wish ) and lethal audio with 18 expansions is all I ever need to make music :)...oh and izotope iris 2 for mashing up melodies and ambient sounds!

Have you watched Claudio (Doctor Mix) video about the Nexus 3? I think you can turn the presets parts off if you don't want it and even edit it.

I think HOW to send seperate layers to seperate channels on my mixer, but for now I see that I need to use 3 instances of Nexus (if I have 3 layers sound)... Why there is NO MULTI OUTPUTS in NEXUS? or maybe I'm missing something? is there another way?

Sanjay C no, I never got nexus. I heard hardwear then but now I use falcon, ni and some other stuff but I like the simple nature of that rap feature of the nexus 3

If you plan to get more skills in sound designing, just start with some free synth . There is nothing like the best plugin. If you have skills, you can create identical sounds with any of nowadays synths. If you don't want to dive deeper, just listen to some presets for different synthesizers and choose what you like best. My personal favorite synthesizer is Dune 3.

Does Nexus 3 come with the same presets that came with Nexus 2?

Hi Kevin. I use the Panasonic G85 $$ and the Panasonic GH5 $$$. On both cameras I use the Panasonic 20mm 1.7 lens which is what makes the biggest difference in the quality. If you get the G85 and put that lens on it, your videos will look exactly the same as mine :-)

With the sequences, you can mute all the layers you want and just take 1 layer from it, I've done it for several different sequences and used the lead with the melody, then just disabled arp and gate, making it into a completely usable lead for my own melodies

@@SanjayC Sequences can be a help to inspiration, then you take it apart and see what you can do on ur own with the sounds, but yea, not for everyone

6:34 mostly I kill the patterns in a sequence that I don't use and record the ones that I use. They are not as flexible as a normal synth but with a bit of creativity you can figure something out.

Log into to the site with the computer without Nexus and download it. It should install it on your second computer. That's what I would do.

@@SanjayCI never owned one before but I always like the sound. The reason I never bought it was the USB dongle. From I understand is USB dongle no more and once I authorize it online it's good to go...if that is the case, I'm getting one for sure...cheers

CPU usage is low compared to Kontakt and Omnisphere on my system.

How would you compare it with Serum? TBH, I have not tried either, but was looking at Serum to possibly get. What say you?

Serum is a beast when it comes to sound design. Quality and interface on Serum are top notch, but there's a learning curve. Nexus 3 really gives you presets ready to go, with a few sound design tools. With Nexus, you wouldn't start with a square wave and then mod it to some brand new sound you create. Its not what its for.

Is it just me or Nexus 3 shows all uninstalled extensions, without the ability to hide them? And it gives me an error message whenever I happen to click on a sound that's not installed. Super annoying!
