Hey Sanjay. I am always amazed at the quality of your videos and the content you bring. Thanks for another great video. I bought Nexus a week ago as it was still on my wish list. It is rather expensive and I would not have bought the upgrade if I already owned Nexus 3 but the presets are great. Waiting to play with it as soon as my new Macbook Pro Max arrives.

If you love the U87 Try the U-67 It doesn’t have the midrange bump. I used it on The Bee Gees for years.

bro it would be great if you also showed the nexus nks compatibility. Curious to see how good it is.

If I buy Nexus 4 vst will they send me the Mac version of the vst.

I think the $99 upgrade price is pretty high for what should have been a point upgrade. That is 40% the original price. If it was something like $30-40, it would be a no brainer. Free would have been even better since they make most of their $$$ on expansion packs. And if you have Nexus 3, you cannot use any new packs. A survey on KVR shows that more than 85% of N3 users are not going to upgrade. Not a good move on reFX's part!

You are absolutely right my friend. Expansions are expensive as well. I think reFX have to think about that, not all countries are rich as France

I love Nexus! I’ve always got at least one Nexus track in my DAW when composing. I updated to v4 the same night it came out. Sad thing is… I won’t be in my studio for another 2-weeks. Between Nexus4 and some other Black Friday deals I bought while being away from my studio… I’m dying of anticipation! Thanks Sanjay!

Nexus is wildly over rated and out dated at this point. The only way to make it half decent is to spend 1000s of dollars on sample pack expansions the value just ain’t there

A very useful lesson for all aspiring softians

I bought Nexus 2 years ago as a crazy - over the top - just got a new job, splurge; and I quite like it. Then they had a sale on years later to upgrade to 3 for something like $100-150? That was a no brainer. But looking at my upgrade pricing for 4 - $120 through $2900? Yikes. Now I don't need all the expansions I guess, and its nice they offer a bundle. Just sticker shock I suppose. Nothing against the plugin, its 100% usable. If you primarily live in software, and want good sounding stuff right away, maybe to tie in with some NI stuff or what have you - enjoy! Also I figure if you're doing this professionally or to make money - you'll just do the math on how many projects/gigs it'll take to pay this back :)

Hey! Sanjay! For users of Komplete 13, in your option, do the presets in Nexus blow it away? I will admit--I ain't got no time for complex sound design at this point in my life and am looking for every shortcut known to man. I hear a lot of sounds on records that make me very jealous and I have not been too successful finding ones that rival them in Komplete Kontrol. There was one guy selling a sample pack for $47 and he had only one sound I fell in love with and I almost coughed up the money just for that one sound. I mean it was that special. If Nexus gives me 100 presets like that it would be worth it. If someone doesn't comment on the sound it's just another sound.

I am new, what should I get to make my sounds from scratch? Any recommendation would be highly appreciated.

I'm using the trial version of soft to learn the basics. How do I make a cool keyboard lody that isn't just a basic softing soft?

Recently I bought Nexus 4 with a few extensions. I've never had an earlier version, so I can't compare the differences. The sound quality is very good and there are many possibilities with this rompler. The NKS coupling works well too. I was happy with it, until I contacted support for a user question. My experience: Very unfriendly staff! For the purchase price, I should have expected more helpful answers to my question. Too bad I'm treated like an insignificant number as a customer so I'm disappointed. I wonder if more people have this experience...? I really hope this was an exception.

Nexus seems like a money grab company. I''m so glad I spent 99$ on Pigment 3 instead of Nexus. There is a reason why they want you to use presets. its way too over priced for basic synths chopped up by engineers. This is a fluff vst, I'd rather buy Omnisphere with out a doubt, but Serum and Pigment will be my go to (best bang for the buck imo)

@@eklipseRomania I highly suggest to match it with their Keylab keys if you are in the market for one. I got the 49 key essential (the better one is MK2 I think) and it marries very well with their VSTs ( especially Pigment). Waiting on my MiniFuse 2 to be shipped.

Well, it's comparing apples and oranges to be honest. Nexus always gets compared to Omnisphere, but Omni has a real synth engine built into it. Nexus REALLY should be compared to Kontakt, because that's exactly how both function. They each create sounds based on sample libraries. Nexus does have that "DLC pay to play" feeling for sure (very much like NI's Maschine expansions). I do think the expansions are overpriced. Unlike good Kontakt libraries, most of the Nexus stuff was sampled from another synth. You could save a lotta money just learning how to make those sounds with a real synth.

Nexus is attractive to folks who need to make things quick but don’t have time for sound design. Some people are in the music biz to make money first rather than purely as a passion / hobby that they may or may not make money off of. Same things goes for assets and graphics packs for video editors. Or stock photos for photographers / site designers. Nexus is the stock library to me. I bought it like 6-8 years ago in a different time. I still pop in from time to time. But it isn’t my go to. Not everyone likes sampling (I don’t really do it all to be honest). But some love it.

But are the sounds outdated in 2022? A lot of people say so

Nexus was great in it's day, but so many of the sounds are outdated. I'm hoping they update their sound engine

@Akeyz Studio, I'm new to music producing and trying to learn my gear, so take this with a big grain of salt (be skeptical). I have watched a lot of tutorials on compression, and it's pretty easy to understand the concepts and how you would apply them to any compressor you might use. When you are looking for a formula or ratio for release time compared to your track tempo, I would suggest that your ears are your best guide. Since you are only asking about a single compression parameter, I would set it up and change the release time so it sounds the best to you (soloed, but also in your mix). Then, go to another song with much a different BPM and do the same thing, just using your ears to see what sounds better. You can then see what settings you chose for the two mixes and make your own "formula", or just keep using your ears. I hope this is helpful, as this is what I plan to do, but haven't done yet.

Especially if you get Falcon as well. Falcon takes the excellent UVI sounds & provides far more flexibility for programming/tweaking sounds.

If you take scaler 2 midi and drag it on an EZ midi file in EZ keys you’ll have thousands of midi progressions, then put that on a phaseplant track, YEAH BUDDY!

Well, Scaler 2 also does the performance thing just like EZ Keys does. And it has a TON of them built into it. Their last update just added a bunch more. Both are amazing with tons of different ways to negotiate chords and changes.

I got a serial killer project coming up and Sanjay would be perfect for the lead. ( Cut to trailer). Sanjay is home gardening, bright sunny day, family drives by, all windows down, “ Hi Sanjay!”, as Sanjay waves back the dog jumps out of the car, tackles SJ and licks his face passionately, family roars with laughter and dog jumps back in, “Even the dog loves you Sanjay!”, they drive off, Sanjay grins and says under his breath “ I’m gonna love you guy’s too”, (cut to night yard scene. Sounds of leaves rustling on the grass), a dead dog is being dragged across the yard by a masked guy in a skin tight black suit, (crane shot pans upwards from the grass revealing the killer as it pours down rain), ( close up as mask comes off), ITS SANJAY C! ( Thunderclap) ( freeze face….. Title). It’s a work in progress.

I cant believe you have the opposite position of most other VST youtubers. That upgrading from N3 to N3 is a good deal. Id say the opposite. If you dont own Nexus then Nexus 4 is great. Go ahead. But if you own Nexus3 the upgrade wont make a lot of difference and is very expensive for what you get. Im curious to hear more about what you think a N3 user gets from the upgrade. Sanjay.

A yo... With nexus price , instead you can get a new gen m1 mac book , dumb pricing

you cannot compare Nexus with Omnisphere, no way man. Omnisphere is a highly complicated VST and honestly: I would never spent a dime on them after being able to try out this prog at a friends house. But with N3 on my desk I am not prepared to spent another 99 EUR for No.4. In my opinion the hay days of Nexus are over. If everything is invented (sounds) what more is there to come? And if they land a new extension, be honest with yourself: how much of it is really usable??? yes 3 questionmarks to open your eyes!

If Nexus put more effort in other genres than EDM, I would buy it in a heartbeat.

@@dconceicaoj Fair point, but their packs are communicating otherwise. Why does their mid-tier offer include a bunch of different genres (10 packs) which most people won't use all together? Again, they may have a great product but IMO fairly poor marketing.
