Next Idea for Using Window Envelopes--Ephemera Holder Books
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
This project will use up some of the window envelopes you have been saving. I'll show you how I created these little booklets that are useful and so cute. They can be made using an even number of envelopes. The ones I made are made with either six or eight envelopes, but you can use more if you like.
It may be helpful if you number your envelopes with the page number in your book, especially if you want the envelopes to be in a particular order. The cover is number one and on through to the last page, which is the back. Put the pages together so that the cover is attached to the back page. The other pages will be assembled in this order for a six-page book: page 2 with page 5 and page 3 with page 4, odd numbered pages on the left and even on the right as you apply the binding strips. If you make an 8-page booklet, the pairs will be 1 and 8, 2 and 7, 3 and 6, and 4 and 5. The page numbers added together will equal the total number of pages in the book plus one. This method counts the entire envelope (front and back) as one page--not each side of it as a page.
Hope you have fun making some of these easy booklets. I'm sure you can think of several other fun ways to use them. Thanks so much for watching.

I love how simple this is and I think it’s a fun way to give someone some ephemera to put in their journal. I really love the stenciled paint chips!! And the fern stencil is lovely!! I too, have many envelopes saved, and hubby is irritated by my taking them out of the recycling bin! I’m keeping too much junk! 🥹He doesn’t get the point of junk journals at all. I’m going to watch your other videos about using the envelopes. Thank you for sharing!

Hi Priscilla. Thank you so much for your comment. I got that stencil at Walmart. I have a lot of envelopes saved too, but I always think “Oooh, that’s a good one.” Sorry that your hubby doesn’t understand junk journaling. We’re actually recycling and know for sure what happens to the things we use, unlike recycling programs where so much of the stuff just ends up in a landfill anyway. I hope you have fun using up lots of your envelopes making your art. ❤️
Use your powder tool, or rub a candle to take the tacky off that paint chip tag. I love it! This is an adorable project! And I *have* envelopes! Thanks, Linda! Hugs! Peggy

I kinda like the idea of this. I love collecting window envelopes of all shapes and sizes for just this reason - I think they make great little elements for junk journals. I think this would be a cute thing to add as ephemera in a junk journal and will probably make a couple. I prefer decorating the envelopes, myself, but I think they look okay plain as well from this demo. I actually was trying to come up with creative ways to use my window envelopes and well - I have one less creative idea to come up with because I'm def gonna use this one! Thanks for the cool share.

Hello Laura. It can be a bit confusing. It might help when you get your envelopes cut to the right sizes to put them in the right order, shortest in front to tallest in back. Then number the envelopes one to six (or however many you’re using). We’ll say six for this example. Put one through three in one stack and four through six in another. Then pair them-one and six, two and five, and three and four. Attach those pairs together with your fabric strips, thinking about where you want the windows to be placed. For the front/back pair I wanted the fabric on the outside, so I put the shortest one window facing up next to the back envelope, front on the right of the back, which has the window placed down so it will be inside. The other two signatures I put the fabric on the other side, but all of them could have the strips on the same side as the cover set. I hope that makes sense. It’s easier to understand after you make one. You don’t have to do a waterfall, which might be easier on the first attempt. Thanks for watching and for your comment. I hope you will give it a try.

First time here. Love the idea, tfs! I’ve been collecting all those envelopes for many ephemera ideas I’ve saved on YT. Perhaps marking the envelopes would help demo it easier? Also dollar tree has $1.25 fabric rolls in many varieties. Cotton and not too thin imo. PS: I hear water boiling or steamer kinda background sound. May be it’s the AC?

Welcome and so glad you love the idea. That is a great suggestion about the fabric from Dollar Tree--plenty for junk journal projects and inexpensive. Sorry about the AC noise in the background. It was too hot that day not to have it on. I was hoping that the sound wouldn't be heard on the video. My voice needs to be louder and the AC quieter. Sigh. I’m new to all this but I have been saving envelopes and think this is a terrific idea! I’m trying to figure out how tall the first envelope is. I’m thinking 6 inches? And then 1/4 inch more for each envelope after? I’ll be looking for other videos by you and subscribing. You are a good teacher.
@lindaspaperworks

Hello Marylin, and welcome. Yes, i made the front envelope 6 inches tall and increased by 1/4 inch for each one going back. Actually, you can make the first one whatever size you choose. For instance, depending on how tall the window is you might want to adjust it up or down to be more proportional with the window. Thank you for your encouraging comments and for subscribing. I ADORE the stencils that you used on some of the ephemera (the floral, the fern) with texture paste - - can you tell me where you found them? or the brand name? Thanks for sharing! - Nancy

Hi Nancy, the stencil came from Walmart. It's their Hello Hobby brand and the number on it is 49886. In our store it's on the aisle with the chalk paint, acrylic paints in bottles, and other craft things. Hope you can find it at your store. Thanks for watching.
