That sucks. The 2% cashback on non PayPal purchases was one of the main reasons I even applied for this card

Me too I was approved before the 3% addition and they canceled my card without my consent so I had to apply again and I got approved after the upgrade

3% Paypal was an afterthought. To me it was all about the sigh-up bonus and 2% everything which was better than Citi Double Cash becaus eof their 1% cashback when you buy and 1% when you pay.

This makes this card effectively a PayPal only card.

At least its a category! I actually recommend the Citi Custom Cash but its probably better to get the Paypal as it is easier and spendier.

Unless, you're getting 5% cash back from one of your rotator cards (Discover or Chase), you might still want to use it on PayPal purchases. My BoA Customized Cash rejected some PayPal purchases; something I don't see happening with a PayPal card.

I got this card recently only because of the 2% everyday cash back. Now I will never use it and likely will cancel it. I hope everyone does the same. F*ck PayPal for this bait and switch.

There’s always the Wells Fargo active cash card for a 2% catch all card.

I have that and a Citi Double Cash, which gets a little more since I also have a Citi Rewards. So, for me catch all is Citi Double Cash, Wells Fargo Active, then my various 1.5% cash back cards.

PayPal Mastercard has been my workhorse since I got it. Looks like it’s back to Apple Pay with Apple Card for 2% cash back.

I’m mad since I was funneling $2000-$3000 a month through the card and paying my balance in full each month. Now I lose $10-15 dollars in cash back each month

I have this card will not be using it again due to the change. I have lots of cards but PayPal was my everyday purchase card for the 2%, now I'll just start using my Citi Double Cash and get the 2%. I hope others follow suit and perhaps PayPal with realize their mistake.

I'm just straight up closing it because it's useless for me. I already have 2-3 cards that give 1.5% cash back and I almost never use PayPal anyway. The Citi Double Cash is now the best option for a flat 2% cash back card.

They also just started charging for paper statements. Got that email yesterday. Funny they did not mention the 2% change.

Starting in July 2024, a $1.99 fee will be charged to your account each month you are sent a paper billing statement. You can avoid this fee if you elect to receive and are sent your statements in electronic form only for each billing cycle. Plus, going paperless means less waste. Go paperless today."

Yeah I used to use this card for almost everything (except select categories) and have for years. Now I'm looking for a replacement strategy. Maybe just the Citi double cash. I do use PayPal a couple times a month so I guess the 3% may warrant keeping it for a while. Just a bummer that now it's more complicated.

No CC company is your friend. At best you’re a profit center. But that said the no annuals fee is something worth considering

It is a pay pal card the only time when i used this card when i bought stuff off pay pal Plus i pay my car insurence through this card and still some utility bills

Won't affect me from applying for this card later this month - only reason I want it is for the catch all 3% for places that take PayPal

Some suggestions - SoFi, Wells Fargo, Double Cash or Alliant Visa Signature if you can put 1k in their Checking.

The notification I received said November 2024 / I just signed up for this credit card in April.

I like to build up the cash back and then transfer it to the PayPal savings account & earn interest off it. Sometimes I would just spend it with the PayPal Debit card. Let start a conversation about it.

If I get this card I would only use it on Paypal so this change is effectively doesnt matter for me. I would much rather trade 0% on everything else to 3.5% on Paypal 😂

Somewhat, you have to pay using your phone or watch to get the full 2% oftentimes. If you don't they bump you down to the lower threshold.

Citi Double Cash is the OG. As long as you pay in full on time every month and you redeem via ACH (not statement credit), you will get the full 2%.

Don't close it, just quit using it except for a tiny purchase every once in a while to keep it open for your credit score.

It sucks for normal everyday purchases but for people who shop online it’s still decent. But dammit, maybe I have to get double cash card or something

Better off getting the citi double cash and the american express everyday card since that gets 3% cashback for all online purchases rather than just through paypal imo. That's my plan at least. Just got approved for the double cash yesterday
