Who knew in the next 30 years, hitting a six with a monster thick willow & T20 madness would hardly shock anyone. 93 sixes overall in the 1992 World Cup to 400 + in 2023 WC!!

We didn't know it at the time, but this was Malcolm Marshall's last ever game for the West Indies. May he RIP.

Remember back in the day some of the crowd yelling “run 3 Dipak” whenever he came out to bat (whether test, one day or FC) after running himself out for 99 attempting a 3rd run for his first test century - he always looked upset at that sledge…

Poor old Dipak, it was the closest he ever came in tests to 100. Which surprised me because he had a decent first class career.

i memeber this era nz were crap and losing left right and centre, lucky to win a game in the world cup, the they won heaps in a row with magic attacking batting greatbatch becoming a house hold name in weeks

nz before the cup were losing badly noone gave them a chane to win a game, to beat aussie in the first game was a shock, then turned into world changing of the game attacking masterclass entertainment winning undefeated streak , but as we no failed in finals

Malcolm Marshall's prime seemed to have ended by 1992. Didn't look like a terror bowler in 1992 wc. Looked like an ordinary fast bowler.

For me, the late Martin Crowe is still the best Kiwi batter.

As a kiwi, i hate to admit it but the quality of umpiring back in the 80's and 90's was mediocre at best and down right blatant cheating in some instances. This match was one example of umpiring playing a major factor in the result. The whole tournament was full of dodgy decisions that favored NZ.

Calm down..they didn't have the technology back then and the decisions go both ways. Sometimes you get the rub of the green and sometimes you don't. NZ has been on the receiving end of some shocking umpire decisions in Australia

Malcolm Marshall was way past his prime in 1992, But still was considered a dangerous bowler back then and even credit to Greatbatch for playing such impressive shots against the likes of Marshall.

How many more of these do you have mate? Did you go to the TVNZ archives or something?

It's gonna be painful but I'm gonna post all NZ games from 1992. I digitalised old VCR and DVD recordings... believe it or not I still have a VCR/DVD recorder haha. Who would have thought it would come in handy all these years later!
