That Lare stumping was a farce, On the other hand, it makes me wonder how good Carl Hooper would have been if he stayed on the same trajectory as young Carl Hooper vs the player he became.

Lots is said about the 98-99 series in WI being the best contest by these two sides. Personally I think the 92-93 series had much more, an Australian team on the way up and WI having a change of guard after all the retirements after the 91 England tour. One things for sure, Ambrose was the difference.

Gosh😱 Those boundaries in Australian grounds without the ropes seemed so big. You had to smash it right into the aisles to get a six.

Carl Hooper bowled it so slowly that Geoff Boycott once had to quip "My mum could hit him for sixes because of his lollipop bowling."😂

Those were the days with Channel 9 commentary . Tests and triangular series were treat to watch .

Agreed. Better commentary, better coverage and great cricket.

Bringing the helmets out for the ground staff during the hail storm was one of my favourite moments watching cricket as a kid.

If you want to see really bad umpiring, watch the highlights of the Sri Lanka v England test series in 2001. Its on KZread. The commentators were amazed when the umpires got a decision right!! So was I!!

Patrick Patterson’s last test series for the West Indies. Same for Greg Matthews for Australia I think. That was a shame, he was one of my favourite players for Australia. Still is. Very underrated in my opinion.

This test series was the last for Patrick Patterson, Bruce Reid, Mike Whitney and Greg Matthews. This test though was the last for both Patterson and Reid.

@@mrkipling2201 Although this was Patterson's final test match, he did play a couple of ODIs for the Windies during the World Series tournament, followed by a few more ODIs a month later in a tri-series held in South Africa before he was discarded by the Windies selectors for good.

Arthurton didn't do justice to the promise he showed in this match.

Nice controlled hook shot by a very young Lara @14:56, and a brilliant hook shot by Richie @12:25 , Lara batting on 68 was not out in the first innings (@16:17), bad decision by the Umpire

That was down right dishonesty !!!!

Wow David Williams actually looking like a keeper….it went downhill him for him after this…..was rated very highly playing for T & T but never quite scaled those heights playing in the maroon

Some awful decisions in this game. The Lara stumping is as bad as Waugh's catch claim, again against Lara, in the West Indies in 1995.

Great match, after seeing this still I can able to remember the early telecast of star sports in India. Windes won without ViV, Greedige& Dujon . Great test series.

Great series. West Indies pulled off a smash and grab thanks to big Curtly 19 wickets in the last 2 tests including 7-1 at Perth. This was the last time my boys have beaten Australia in a test series.

Do you mean that this was their last series victory vs Australia? Cause that's true. The last test that they won vs Australia in Australia was in 96/97 (they lost the series 3-2).

I rate Lara's 277 in this series the best batting i have seen. To think it was his first test hundred.

That was pretty much Healy all the time.

Great video. Thanks for the upload mate. Think there were a few umpiring decisions that went against the Aussies this match like AB's controversial run out, the catch that was not given because the bowl had apparently touched the ground, the catch that was given against the Aussies when the batter didn't appear to have any edge on the ball and not to mention the stumping that was clearly visible as the Windies batter didn't quite have his foot behind the line. All these marred decisions definitely had an influence in this test match as I believe this ultimately cost Australia victory which means the series would have been tied 2-2. I know there were 1 or 2 bad decisions that went against the Windies like the one with Brian Lara but overall there were more that affected the Australians.

Although the Third Umpire made it's debut during the 1992/93 Indian tour of South Africa, it wasn't until the following summer (1993/94) that it was used in Australia.

I remember the Pakistan wicketkeeper claiming he caught a ball edged by Ian Botham in the 1987 test series in England. The only problem being that the ball bounced on the floor before he caught it. Clearly bounced on the floor as well. Botham gave him a piece of his mind!! It was embarrassing though, as bad as Healey in this test match!!

@@TheCory42 no he had played in the 1992 summer test series against Pakistan, in fact played well in that series, and people were very surprised when he was left out of the series in India. He was surprised!! Considering we lost 3-0 and Graham Gooch admitted it was a mistake not to pick Gower, he definitely should have played!! It signalled his retirement from the game though.
