49ers fans should be ecstatic that the Jets picked Vick before Walsh drafted him. Harris Barton became a Pro Bowl guard for the Niners.

Feels weird even projecting a Fullback as a 1st rounder. Ive been watching the draft since the 90s.

That was the tail end of the time when a team might give as many touches to its FB as its TB. Definitely is weird by the NFL game we have seen for a few decades now!

Mel Kiper was right - Harris Barton was a much better player. The last few FBs who were drafted high (because they touched the ball a lot) were William Floyd (#28, 1994) and Mike Alstott (#35, 1996)

Think how many terrible 1st round picks the Jets have had and who they passed over. In the 80s it seemed every year Jets fans hated the first round pick. They booed Freeman McNeil who turned out to be a very decent player for over a decade and if not for injuries he could have been a perennial All Pro.

If you don't understand the game plan of the 80's, fullbacks was as important as halfbacks, halfbacks are generally fast agile backs while fullbacks was slower but stronger backs, in matter of fact, Vick was most likely going be drafted the next pick, and even more interesting, the fullback owners slept on was a fullback drafted in 2nd round by the Chiefs, he is known as Nigerian Nightmare, Christian Okoye
