100% better than the actual show in my opinion 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

I love it. I am really excited to see a supercut from you guys. Hopefully Rafe and team will see all these, take a hint, and take their time for season 2.. My only complaint, not with the edit but with a specific scene that happened to be used, is I grew up shooting bow with my dad. He would've broke out the belt if I tossed my bow so carelessly. Made me itch when Rand does it lol

Oh heck yesssss. I LOVE starting on the Quarry Road, cut to Emond’s Field, and Fain from and center. Really good choices, I wished it were longer! 💜

Love the addition of Fain on the first day. It makes so much more sense since he brings the fades and Trollocs. It sets up the scene with the Fade coming in during the rainy night as well.

Taylor did a good job. I like how he was able to make that guitar intro work over Padan Fain's section; it really feels like it fits.

While I don't think this particular sequence is perfection, I ABSOLUTELY agree with the idea of priming our introduction to Egwene. It lets us know that she is important before we ever lay eyes on her, sets up that this ceremony thing is a big deal before we see it (we don't know these people... this could be something they do all the time), and it helps us to understand that these people are all connected in life... they are a tight group of friends. What I DON'T like is that it gives so much of this woman's introduction into the hands of the men so that essentially our first thoughts of the women are given us by men... which, let's face it, is a story old as time, but this series is striving to be different in that way and I feel like this concept undercuts that right at the very very start. So, in it's storytelling structure I like it for introducing Egwene, but I don't think it works specifically for this series' feel/power structure to let the men define the introduction of this woman who is so central, powerful, and important. (Just my initial thoughts.)

This is great! I think this does so much in so little time. So much for the claim that 8 episodes not enough.

True, but only if you actually know the story already. I really like something like this closer to the intro in the books, but think about it from the perspective of someone who's knows nothing about the series. This gives some nice introduction into each of the main 3, but it tells you nothing about the plot, why we should care about these characters, and almost nothing regarding world building.

@@Echidna23Gaming But the bits that Dusty Wheel cut out tells us nothing about plot. Most of it was just spectacle like pushing women off clip and Mat stealing from friends. Now use that saved time to show Logain rising being Lord Dragon. What better way to distract the audience than the "who is the dragon?" game

So is Dusty Wheel doin a fan edit? Or is this just ideas they’re putting forward?

Just noticed Tam's spear disappears for part of the opening scene.

I saw the time code and thought it was 3 hours. You bastards....

This is definitely better than the red ajah scene from episode 1, but the cuts seem incredibly quick and don't do quite enough. I wonder if having more 'deleted scenes' from the (rumoured) original longer episode would make this truly excellent.

@@wotfanedit Thank you for sharing. I'm not much for reddit so I was completely unaware. I enjoyed your cut very much and most of the distracting lore was edited out. I think the only time I noticed a cut was the Fal Dara hall. But he did seem extremely rude and dishonorable in the original cut, which was annoying. There was plenty of positive changes that were cut, but your edit was overall more enjoyable.

It's remarkable what an improvement on the shower of shit the show is, which just goes to show its salvageable with something as basic as correct order of scenes.

I wonder if the first scene we see after the cold opening is Rand and Tam, then will non book readers think he might be the Dragon Reborn since he was the first TR person we see? But I do like having us see the 3 boys before we see the wisdom ceremony. Good job again

I think the Logain cold open would negate any such tendency for new viewers. Without it, I think a person might, but they do a good job over the episodes making it possible for any of them. And the traveling into town by them and Padan Fain creates this gathering momentum that gives so much power to the ceremony and celebration ideas.

I think what’s notable is that it makes it obvious in retrospect, but not obvious on first watch through, for the reason’s Dusty Wheel described, which I think helps make the reveal seem less sudden and potentially out of the blue

​@@wotfanedit Jordan's focus on PoV with Rand in TEoTW, where we are rarely in anyone else's head, makes it so we have no context for how this all affected the others Moiraine takes from Emond's Field. Framing the "who is the dragon reborn" narrative is more our concern than removing it, like we did with the intro and cold open. We'll continue to do that throughout, finding ways to continue to frame it in a way that works with how we are weaving the story.

I understand the intention to spend some time with the main protagonists in the TR at first. This surely leads to some other scenes not making sense (e.g. Mat approaching the girl who he got the item from to sell it to Padan Fain) but since you can only use what we got so far its understandable. Curious where it will lead to! 😉👍

Yeah, there is a bit of a need to forget that she has it, because we are not going to edit that out, later. But, that future scene still makes sense. As in, when you see it, you just think Mat is interested in the girl, not in her bracelet. But, for Mat, we felt it was a better cut to make the viewer beg questions about Mat, instead of telling the viewer exactly what to believe about that the sale of the bracelet.

@@TheDustyWheel I was wondering if you were going to edit it the part of the girl wearing that bracelet... I don't remember how that scene went together with the gambling bit but I'd support editing out the girl and leaving the source of the bracelet more ambiguous...

paddan fain comes to emonds field and zero people try to talk with him or do anything.. it seems like am the only customer... like come on.. did they even read the most simple stuff from the books?. is it so hard to ask for some reason or logic from the books ?.. do we must cut every little detail just becuse its not ! 1-1 adaptation???..

I mean clearly the kids were swarming him, and when we see Mat approach Fain it's clearly later in the day, the only scene we have in the books where people approach him is when he spreads rumors of the wars in Gealdan and the False Dragon, which in the Dusty Wheels cut, we see in the cold open with Logain recruiting the King. So we can assume people came to Fain to trade, but there was no reason to show that except for when Mat waits until nobody is around so he can try to sell the stolen item.

doesnt matter how much you try to edit this pile of doodo... when rand use the bow and they film it like that as if its a pose mode. its so bad. whats the point in filming it like that?. this show try to act like every sceene should be a cool scenee and nothing more.. there is no fluid in filming and talking
