I went to a class recently on paper piecing and had a wonderful time. I was exhausted because not only was paper piecing and quilting new to me but I am 75 and recovering from a stroke. It took me so long to do one block and I still have not torn away the paper. Each block consists of 8 sections. I have 16 more blocks to complete. The one block took me almost 5 hours. The next day I tried your method. WOW! I completed the block in a lot less time. I was able to check and see if the material covered each section a lot easier and no paper to tear away. They look identical. I also did a birdhouse pattern I had for practice. I downloaded this pattern and am eager to try it. You brought a grown man to tears and I thank you. This is also the first comment I have ever written.

I am so inspired by you and love watching Tracy's videos which only came up in utube recently. I subscribed straight away. Keep going. Tracy is a wonderful teacher✂️🧵🧷
My wife does not sew thru the paper. She transfers pattern to freezer paper using window or light box. Cuts out pattern pieces-numbered, use tracing wheel to score fold line. folds that back after afixing material , places add-a-quarter or add-a-eight ruler, trims material and procedes-no need to tear paper and the freezer paper can be used several times, using hot dry iron to hold material in place.
I've used this technique before and used my stitch-in-the-ditch foot to get my seam as close to the paper without sewing on the paper. Thanks for sharing the Starburst pattern!

Sorry for all the nagging comments 🙈 I just wanted to say that this is my first time watching your videos and I as a beginner love how you go into detail every step of the way and the tips you (especially about starting in the middle to get everything lined up nicely, I’ve never seen that before) give are much appreciated. Your videos cover the seasoned quilters and also help the beginner sewers as well. I think a lot of people forget that usually beginner sewers coming to KZread for help. So thank you so much for taking the time and explaining everything so well, it’s incredibly appreciated ❤️🙏
This is so awesome! I knew someone would figure out how to do this much easier. I could never get mine to look right after flipping it over, it seems so wrong to sew without looking at it. Thank you so much showing us all how to do this.

What a great new way to do FPP! I am so excited about not having to tear out papers and also not need 80 pieces of paper for my foundations! Thanks for this tutorial!
You could also print this out on the non waxy side of freezer paper and then use your iron to hold everything together on the waxy side. Everything is the same except you use your iron in place of glue and your end product might be a little crisper since you’d be ironing. I love using the freezer paper and you get just as many uses from the freezer paper as regular paper

It’s also called “paperless” paper piecing. Two great aids are the “add a quarter inch” ruler (which comes in several lengths), and a “stitch-in-the-ditch” foot.

I found your other video first. Then I found the template, then I found this second excellent video that you did showing exactly how to use this template. Thanks so much for making both videos and teaching us about paper piecing. Now I'm going to try it and see what happens. Have a great day!
I’m using a cheap children’s art paper pad on a very similar 8 pointed star PP pattern and you’re right. I hate tearing out the paper, but the paper I’m using tears right off and doesn’t add too much bulk thru all the seams. next time, I’ll try it this way.
Thank you mam you are teaching super easy way to us.
