Great tutorial, but word of caution. Freezer paper can only go through an inkjet printer. Do not put freezer paper into a laser printer.

Yes - I should have mentioned that! D'oh!

@@KateBerggren if it’s an inkjet printer yes. I wouldn’t put it through a laser printer. Inkjets apply ink without heating it. Laser printers fuse toner onto the paper with heat.

Gracias muy educativo. Voy a probarlo. Parece fácil, se que hay que probar. ❤❤❤❤❤
I made the wife a 'light box', empty wine carton, plexiglass large enough to cover top & stay, small lamp. Plact lamp inside box, cut hole for cord, plug it in, lay pattern on top of plexiglass and freezer paper on top of pattern. Use ruler to keep lines straight. A little more prep work, useful when a printer is not in the picture. Put on some music and enjoy the process, she does.

Wow, thank you!
Becca! This is a beautifully presented tutorial and I love the freezer paper FPP... hence FP FPP. Your sample even showed how you oculd fussy cut in placement of that first one. The colors and placement were perfect.
One way to efficiently use fabric is to cut oversized pieces that fit comfortably within the allotted space + seam allowance. I use ~1/4-1/2" upsize. A corner clipper ruler is your friend as it cuts with seam allowances, and will help you size the triangle if you are uncomfortable with quilter's math. I find that a hot hemmer makes the perfect creasing tool. If you have one, give it a try.
Very good video Becca! Great tutorial!
Great tutorial Becca, thanks so much for sharing. Never tried FPP, but on top of the list for the New Year.

Really genius Becca. Thank you so much. It highlighted so many things for me as a beginner quilter who really wants to do an economy block quilt. I wanted to use a couple of charm packs. Now that I see the waste, I realize to use the amount that I have I can't do FPP. I would require a layer cake. Things a beginning quilter can't visualize. I've done wool applique, so I love freezer paper and think it is the best!! I appreciate your warning me off of over-generalizing the method. Happy Holidays!

Unfortunately, FPP does produce some waste. There are methods you can take to really minimize it, but the thought process really just completely causes me to freeze up. I try not to overthink it and just go with the flow!

Oh, this would be an amazing way to make random scrappy patchwork in the shape of a clothing pattern too! Just cut out the shapes from this paper (well, several pieces of the paper, since it's not very wide) and then just fill it up from roughly the centre with fabric scraps. I'm planning to make a jacket in this way, and my initial thought was to just wing it until I have a big enough patchwork to cut to shape. This will enable me to pre-plan some shapes and fabric placements, and also limit waste!
