    Just found your video. First time I've ever wanted to attempt paper piecing again. Always disliked the tear off backing. This totally made sense to me and using the freezer paper to print the pattern? Thumbs up! Ordered from Amazon today. Winter-Woodsy mini quilt to create during winter months 2024. Thanks for the free downloaded patterns. I downloaded the trees too. ❤

    What a clever method! No wastebof paper and you can print your paper in color so that you won’t make a mistake during the process. With this method, you have more the feeling of having the final block in hands in stead of a stranger mix paper/fabric. I will definitely give it a go for my next project! 👍🏻🫶🏻

    Thank you for showing this. But I have a question: how can it still be a 1/2 inch seam, if you stitch on it? Would this method not make the picture larger than planned? How can a stitch in the ditch foot help with this? Will it not gather the fabric underneath the foot? I need to experiment. Thank you for.

  • @MadMoodyQuiltingFabrics

    @MadMoodyQuiltingFabrics

    The pattern is finished size. The lines on the pattern are the stitching line you fold the paper on those lines and you will use an add 1/4 inch ruler to add your seam allowances. You keep the paper folded back and I use a foot that has a guide or a mark that will indicate the needle position. You are sewing just beside the paper that is still folded back in the same place as if you are sewing through the paper. There would be no gathering of the fabric. It’s as if you are doing regular patchwork with your machine. I hope this helps.

    You said to use a water resistant glue, if your wax on the freezer paper doesn't stick, I would think you want a water soluble glue so you can get it off, not a water resistant since that would be more permanent. From how I understand glues.

    Can u just reapply a new piece of freezer paper instead of using glue stick? I would think the glue stick might discolor the fabric since it's not washed out before machine quilting or even RUIN the needles sewing & machine quilting. I don't know because I've never done it this way..... I tear off the paper. And if I need the pattern again, I make more photo copies of the pattern. Your way is faster, of course!! Great work!!! This is just a question. Thanks. L :)

    You can reprint your pattern as many times as you need if you do not what to use a glue stick then you will be using more freezer paper. When I use a glue stick the brand I use is sewline it will not yellow or discolor your fabric and it will wash out with water.
