I have both. Dewalt sits on a shelf. Everytime I go back to use it, I can not believe how much more it vibrates and how loud it is.

Easier way for the undercut is to use a piece of scrap and use as a guide and rest the blade on it when cutting the trim so you don't have to freehand it and follow a line , goes so much faster, and perfect every time. Just bought the Milwaukee multitool , I also have the $300 corded Fein multitool and it has a nice case and has a vac system attachment for , it's beautiful but starting to get away from corded tools now

Thank you for such an excellent tool review . I was wondering about the Milwaukee and getting it in a kit . But now I will get a DeWalt . the variable speed trigger and tool change has the Milwaukee beat hands down also it does have a solid grip.

Ive had the Milwaukee for almost a year now its amazing. That dewalt looks like the vibrations are out of control but i do like the trigger option for certain delicate cuts and of course the quick release looks awesome.

I prefer the switch to the trigger. It lets you grip the tool by the battery where the vibes are low and if you are doing long jobs these tools will vibe you numb.

This was the best, most reassuring demonstration of Milwaukee's attachment procedure that I've found. I'm in the M18 system but was going to look elsewhere for a multitool...until I watched this video. Heck, I prefer Milwaukee's cam to Dewalt's spring-loaded clamp. After you finger-tighten the blade, the cam provides a second, supplemental clamping force that's far stronger than a spring.

You will not go wrong with either one. DeWalt has better grip more vibration great quick blade change and trigger. Milwaukee thicker in the hand less vibration maybe little heavier but doesn’t bother me, if you use DeWalt blades it makes changing blades easier and having to turn it on and off isn’t a big deal for me.

Milwaukee has some nice stuff, but DeWalt absolutely nailed it with their oscillating tool. Also, if you'll notice the hammerhead shape on the DeWalt blade makes it so nice to make small delicate cuts because you can rotate the tool around without the sides of the blade getting in your work area. Also the Milwaukee not being a true variable speed (via a trigger) is just plum annoying because often times you don't know how much power you'll need to cut what you're cutting. Love the review by the way!

To be fair, the Dewalt operates at 20,000 OPM vs. the Milwaukee 18,000; this contributes to an increased sense of vibration. Also, the new DSC355 has a safety/lock button that is not discussed in this video. Engaging the lock while the trigger is depressed, locks the saw on. Depressing the trigger a second time releases the lock and turns off the saw.

I have all DeWalt tools including the brushless oscillating tool and I can say with certainty that the Makita my boss has is better. It’s more sturdy, doesn’t vibrate the hands nearly as much, is quieter, and honestly I’ve become sick of the trigger. I do like the quick blade change on the DW, but I’ don’t change them that often (especially given their high price) so I’d prefer the pin style and the ability to use whatever brand since I don’t carry the bolt for it. Either way this was a great review, thanks for posting

I'm wondering if you have tried the low cost blades on Amazon. (I'm sure many other places also) they are around $1.00 each. I was skeptical but since the expensive blades never lasted me very long I gave it a try. I think I got 20 blades for $25.00 or something like that. I've only used them once on just Doug fir and pine but they cut just as fast and I haven't worn out the first blade yet. I can't tell much difference.

DeWalt is part of the Stanley Black & Decker family of tools based in Connecticut, USA and moving production back to the USA. Milwaukee (despite its name) is owned by TTI, a Hong Kong based company. Both companies make great tools, but I just thought I'd point that out for people who think about those kind of things before deciding which tool family to own.

Many craftsmen and serious DIYers underestimate the dangers of vibration damages (it is not the big ones that are dangerous but the small ones), which is weird as anyone working with construction, both professionally and as an amateur, usually are VERY safety oriented. And there are few, if any, tools that will mess up your nerves as much as an OMT will over the long run. So, even if I was not already invested in the M18 platform, I would lean red for this particular tool (even if I would prefer the variable trigger function of the DeWalt). Bless you too, and thank you for a good video!

The change out isn't a deal breaker for me. Most ppl who pretend these few extra seconds are a big deal probably don't work as fast as they could anyways. I want power and less vibration. The M12 oscillating tool was so bad the only thing I'll use it for is regrout jobs. I run a multi battery setup with Dewalt and Milwaukee. Milwaukee has more power... Especially with their impacts. Not even close. The best oscillating tool is the corded Dremel MM-50. No matter how hard you push it doesn't transfer vibration to your hands and it eats like that Asian dude at the hotdog competitions. If you're stationary in a shop and don't absolutely have to be mobile then get the MM-50. You'll be impressed. I've used the Dewalt oscillating tool many times at work and I really like it. Lightweight, powerful, feels nice and is nearly everything you should expect. I'm interested in the milwaukee bc I use mine mainly to cut door jambs to install flooring and the trigger on the dewalt leaves my hand at an awkward angle. I'll give the Milwaukee a go and report back in with my opinion. Thanks for the video man. Keep up the good work.

I was interested in this review as I have just bought the Milwaukee . I thought it may get mentioned in this vlog about the comfort in use . after trying a friends dewalt . I foundry gave a lot of excess vibration in the hands and it became uncomfortable in use. The Milwaukee gives a lot less vibration in the hands . Both great brands I know but Milwaukee was my choice.

I bought this tool for a small tile trimming job. I cut 30” through backsplash tile and it ate through 2 fully charged 5.0 batteries, 2 diamond blades, and I had to let it rest multiple times because it was over heating. Then I used it to cut through wood and drywall doing a filter grill retrofit. This tool eats batteries and gets very Hot!! I’ve used the DeWalt Oscillating tool and I feels like it is a better made tool, more ergonomic, but I own Milwaukee, so.... 🤔maybe I should have bought the Fuel version. I will say I prefer the on off switch and variable speed dial to the DeWalt trigger. On the Milwaukee I don’t like the blade chuck and bolt or the aol length. I’m not impressed by this tool, yet. I will keep using it since I bought it, but for now I’m still skeptical.

Can I ask where you’re working? Your home or a customers home etc? Is that a Mississippi accent? Tennessee ? You remind me of my uncle who lived in Knoxville for years. Does that piece you slid under the door match either rooms flooring or you don’t worry about that? It still looks decent? Because my dad’s home needs to get the gaps like that tightened up. And we need to find a way to get the AC bill under $400 in these hot months which is year round in New Orleans or else we won’t get but a few cents from the bank once we finally manage to sell and the bank covers the reverse mortgage. My mother passed away in April and I’d been her caretaker for years, now my junkie brother is living with us and my dad’s just given up I think he just doesn’t have it in him anymore he doesn’t care to fight he’s just going to let it all be and request a room with a view of Fox News and a Bible in whatever place he winds up in. I was in over my head caring for my mother which I was proud of until I dropped the ball at the finish line and she isn’t with us anymore as a result and every time someone tells me it wasn’t my fault or at least she’s not in pain I just get upset !(inside) and smile & nod on the outside and recall nobody can understand as I was alone with her every day in life and I’ll bear the burden of her passing alone. To everyone else it’s just a relief, and I will never view life quite the same. Sorry...tangents/rants are a screwed up side effect of grieving in my case it seems.

A multi tool is definitely something I'm missing in my arsenal. Since all of my other cordless tools are Milwaukee, I'm probably gonna stick with my brand (plus I've got dozens of Milwaukee batteries), but I might wait until they have a model with a speed controlling trigger. Every other cordless tool they make has it, so why not the multi tool?

I own the DeWalt oscillator. The reason why I believe the DeWalt is better than the Milwaukee hands down is simple: DeWalt has a brushless motor, Milwaukee does not. The batteries will run longer, cooler, and it is lighter. I also own the Makita DTM51Z, BUT it is also not brushless and it eats my 5 Ah batteries up quick. DeWalt has a brushless motor, Makita and Milwaukee do not. However, the starlock blades are better choice for the professional. Fein makes excellent blades but they are all Starlock, and so are Bosch's. There is a better selection in the starlock arena than the quick change type DeWalt uses. To sum it up, then, which is the best oscillating tool out there? Hands down it is the HiKOKI CV18DBL . Starlock system, brushless motor, and it is built like a goat. If you are in the market looking for that right oscillating tool, check the HIKOKI out first. I use it every day and I love this thing! There is no blade out there it does not support, and it gets the job done, with a better battery selection than Makita. Cheers!

Pull the lever up on top then unscrew the screw on the bottom, install blade then tighten the screw back up tightly then close lever on top. From time to time not always and not that often but it does happen with the Milwaukee the blade will vibrate lose. Enjoy your new multi tool. Have a blessed day!!

@@DavidFDay Funny you should say that, I bought a broken one, which had an intermittent stopping motor, one of the field windings had gone open circuit so I had to replace it, found it on ebay for £40. In fairness, all of the Milwaukee stuff I have taken apart is well built, but this one should have more protection for dust getting into the commutator, that's what makes it fail, but I suppose the Dewalt is no better, I am sure a Fein would mitigate that problem though.
