I also love the "privacy" of a classroom. It's your class and you know what to expect. the kids do things that you don't expect sometimes, but they're kids. and they're super forgiving. dealing with adults is different.
My word is “available “. I retired in June and my prayer is that God would make me available. I want to available to serve God and others in ways I wasn’t able to while was teaching.

Congratulations on retirement! 🎉
My word for this year is Consistency. I don’t want to add new things, but I want to get good at doing my current things, and have them turn into automatic habits.
My word is FAITH. Without faith there is nothing. I too have grown in faith, but faith in God. May the good Lord bless you and your family with peace and health.
I felt all of this. I am a teacher and share the same struggles - overthinking things and dealing with certain adults in a professional manner. Preserverance is something that I need to strive for in 2024. This too shall pass.
I joined the Bridging Literacy community a few weeks ago and purchased your book as an investment in my professional development this year. I appreciate your video today. There are times that I have taken on new roles in teaching that have taken me out of the classroom for a time. It is good we take time to process things.

WELCOME!!!🎉🎉🎉 I’m so glad you are here and please reach out if you need anything in our private Facebook group 🥰 you are so right… we have to give ourselves the space and grace needed to move forward.
Thanks for this. You're not alone. I can relate to many of your points. It sounds like your new coworkers are super lucky to work with you. Cheering for your success!
Thank you for being so open and honest in your video, Bridget. I feel like it really takes time to get used to a new job and to navigate through big changes. I appreciate your insights and all you do to inspire and reach out to teachers. Have a wonderful week! 💜
That was a good answer. I can see that. Thanks for the update. ❤
❤ Love your 2024 word and motto. Best of luck!
I really appreciate you opening up about this. I recently transitioned from being a teacher to being a early childhood coach/consultant. everything you shared I’ve felt but you explained and said much better than I did in my own head.

Honestly, many people might feel that way when moving from a position they’ve known for a long time and doing something new.
Just wanted to stop by and say hi!! I love your content and enjoy everything you have to say. ❤
I just started as an instructional coach and I feel like you have expressed everything I am feeling about my new job. Love so many aspects of this new role and love the people I work with, but there are so many moments when I am uncomfortable as well. You are not alone!

Wishing you the very best! We can do this! 🎉
My motto last year was, " Free in 2023." That was because somany bad things happened to me in , so I wanted to be free of it all . This year, my motto is " More in 2024 because I want more in life. I feel I'm living below my spiritual heritage.

I love that explanation! ❤
I so relate to how you are feeling. I just retired as a sped teacher after 29 years. Now I am a sped coordinator and learning so much. I feel uncomfortable with not knowing the answers too.
My word is "cultivate." I was inspired by picking a new Cultivate What Matters planner for the year, but also by the idea that at this point in my life, I don't need anything new, I need to care for what I have and what I want to grow. Thanks for sharing your thoughts, I'm a big fan of the podcast and both you and Michelle!

I really love that word! Cultivate!!! I’ll have to keep that in mind for the future.
Perseverance After 37 years in the classroom, starting a new reading/writing curriculum is challenging. The PD received was awful. Had to learn it all on my own. Little support. Just trying to do my best❤❤❤

What an amazing word! This is perfect and you will absolutely persevere ❤️
#klassical creativity in teaching Wow! What a coincidence! My word is growth too cos I change mileposts last year, I have a new boss, and it made me felt so uncomfortable in some areas but I am growing past my fears. That’s why I chose growth. I am looking forward to seeing how you implement this word weekly and on all aspects of your life. Cheers Bridget!! 🎉Happy new year once again.

LOL.. absolutely! I could chat about this all day 😂
I think it will take at least 2-5 years to be comfortable with the new job. I think it took 3 years to get use to early childhood special education. I feel more comfortable due to my experience and nothing bothers me anymore.
I think the first year or two of any job there's a certain amount of uncomfortableness. Any time I've changed grade levels or positions- a little uncomfortableness. You'll get there:)
I heard Kathe Gifford say once if you can do something with your eyes closed, it's probably time for something new. Way to step out of your comfort zone!
