@@odca72 CR surveys its members for its ratings. Repairpal and JD Power , both surveying all owners' issues, give the Frontier 1st place in reliability for a mid-size truck.

50k for a ranger?? I’ll stick with my 3rd gen Tacoma all day long!

Why trade for a ford? If you hate the 4th Gen so bad, just keep your previous gens. People love to complain

Pretty sure he's not trading (I hope)... I believe he's just showing people comparisons to the other options for those shopping and those complaining about the price jump.

Honestly I have a Tacoma, 4runner, and an Acura RSX TYPE S....and if I was going to sell my Tacoma I would be looking at the Frontier Pro-4X to replace it.

I'll be replacing my 3rd gen with the new Ranger Raptor soon. The Raptor is far superior than the Tacoma TRD PRO and Frontier. Just not a fan of the Frontier looks. Imo the TRD PRO is the most badass looking though.

I cross shopped the new Tacoma and Ranger, the Ranger won out in most areas. Can’t say the Tacoma is more reliable anymore and the Ranger comes better equipped for the $$ and better backseat.

Nope.the only other thing I would by is a frontier.

People cant really accept the fact the new tacoma is way better than the previous gen. The powertrain is so much better and very capable despite its smaller displacement 4cyl turbo. These people who give negative comment are just troll , they dont even test drive nor did own a previous tacoma to compare with

Well I love my 24 Off Road... If they hold their value like previous gens then there is no comparison to those Rangers or Frontiers

Ranger sport for 42 seemed like a good deal but we don’t know what the interior was like. My issue with the Ranger is it’s very boring design. The Tacoma looks far better in my opinion. Hope you compare other trucks too!

Im keeping my 2021 Tacoma TRD ORDC 4x4 till it can’t drive anymore, zero issues just routine maintenance , 63k mikes on it now and drives like a brand new truck just SOLID truck , as I’m not interested any new brand truck at all

Nissan Frontier Pro-4X is the move.....

I am not looking for a truck at this point and don't know if I ever will again based on my very low milage 2018 Tacoma Sport, but if I was, I wouldn't buy a new Tacoma. NOT a fan of the new engine and the price is out of hand. That being said, I have NO idea what I'd buy. I have had two F150s, but that was literally in the middle and late eighties, and a LOT has changed since then. I KNOW I'd never touch anything GM OR Stellantis though. Again, I would really have to think about it.

The Ford Ranger Raptor is way better than the new Tacoma in almost every way, but when it comes to prowess on the rocks I have seen very disappointing footage. It can't do much of anything without engaging both lockers. But as a regular truck or as a drive fast off road truck, it's the best mid-size truck you can get IMO, as long as you don't mind horrible mpg.

Rob , any issues with your transmission.? Looks like bigtime problems with it now and probably a recall.

A comparable equipped Tacoma would be around 54k

When Toyota announced the new 4th gen id had every intentions of replacing my 3rd gen in two year's from now. I truly wanted the TRD PRO until i realized the price and hybrid engine. I previously owned a 2004 Tacoma that lasted for ever. Ive always considered myself a Tacoma fanboy but ill be going with a new Ranger Raptor over the PRO. Its far superior and cheaper than the TRD PRO.

I like the idea of the ranger, and I did test drive both and xlt and lariat. They did feel roomier than the taco but it didn't feel like i was driving a truck, maybe more of a sports car. But I also have not driven the new gen of taco so maybe they drive similar. But it didn't give me the same lovin feeling that my 3rd gen taco gave me. Nice trucks though for sure, and I wouldn't mind a ranger raptor except I find the interior hideous in it

Before problem pops up, TFL just sold Blueberry 24 Tacoma. If you took enough KZread contents with it… it might be good idea to sell it now while you can to avoid all new level of headache. If you really liked it then you can buy new one again few years later.

@@RobMotiveI agree they called it they did long term review… but it was only 6months. For example until major engine failure recall it took about 3years for Tundra.

Nissan has never built vehicles that last without fairly serious problems. I think all truck manufacturers pretty much build sub par trucks. Older Toyotas are still great.

I haven’t seen a new ranger that I like yet. Some of the new Broncos are pretty sweet. The Maverick well I think of the car lol. I have seen the Maverick truck at a couple of car shows not for sure why it was there for Lol. The Raptor I really like them. I like the F 150 we had one for about 4 months as a rental V6 turbo. I have been in a new Mustang convertible with the 4 cylinder and believe it or it was very impressive. I would prefer a V8 mustang though.

The Broncos have major issues in the motor and computer system but the Ford dealerships won't tell anyone about them because they have to get them sold.

2023 Consumer Report gives Nissan Frontier a very low reliability rating. The only thing why it sells is because it’s cheaper. Just like the grand caravan it’s the best selling minivan despite a very poor reliability but because it is affordable

Just go back and get the Tacoma you traded in it's better than the new generation. The Toyota dealership in Greer has sent me several offers wanting me to trade my 2022 Tacoma XP and they're offering me between $35,000-$38,000 for my Tacoma,, basically offering me 110% value for me to trade it. At first I was thinking about the Trail Hunter package, but after seeing the prices of the New Tacomas which is way higher than initially said they're going to be and then see the issues several Gen 4 owners have spoke about and then the big kicker no V6 at all in them I was saying they have to think I'm stupid to trade DOWN. If I trade my Tacoma in it will definitely be for another Gladiator Rubicon because I miss my Gladiator to me it was way better than the Tacoma.

@RobMotive Because I heard so much on their reliability and thought I would try it out, Yes in a way I like my Tacoma, but I really liked my Gladiator Rubicon alot better. If it wasn't for the accident I got into on my way to work and totaled the Gladiator I would still have it, but since they wrote it up as totaled the insurance company had the tow truck take it and paid the truck off, so I was in a hurry to find another truck with the money I had for a down payment and that's when I got the Tacoma, I don't like the rear drum brakes and the leaf springs suspension on the back of the Tacoma and having to pay monthly in order to use the GPS system in the truck is wrong, I didn't have to do that with the Gladiator.

I would get the Chevy Colorado before I would get a Ford.

Just me the tacoma looks way better these Ford Rangers are old European trucks

The Tocoma is added with a bunch of useless junk that brings the price to high, can’t just get practical one. Four Cylinder is fine, For Rob since all he does is drive around town but for towing or hauling wood another words doing things that a truck is supposed to do it sucks

I have a 2019 TRD Tocoma paid35000 for it . I’m a contractor so I work that truck. Tow a 18 duckworth boat all over California. Yes I have much experience! I’ve had about ten Toyota trucks inthe past thirty years! Now my past plan was when my truck got around 60000 miles on it I would trade it in for a new one. This was also a tax Strategy. I’m probably number one on the list at WalnutCreek Toyota for a new TRD hybrid. They notified me last week that they had assigned a truck to me cost 60000. Lots of stupid add ons told me that’s the way it is take it or leave it, I told them I’ll go buy a Ranger they said fine see you later! The Ranger I would buy has the 2.7 six. Now my thinking is my TRD is a better machine than the new one, didn’t cost a fortune and probably will last longer than the turbo 4. So even with plenty of money to buy a new truck why? Think I’ll just try to not drive as much, Co2 emissions, suck it up and relax as I drive my truck/boat up to the mountains, underpowered, and ride my electric bike for errands in town!

If you don’t like the gen 4 because of 4 cylinder turbo, then STAY AWAY FROM FORD eco boost.. SAME THING…4 cylinder turbo… and yes, they do have issues with longevity and durability..GUARANTEED to NOT SEE 300,000!!!

I wouldn’t buy Ford anything these days.

Chevrolet Colorado is definitely the best bang for your buck.

Your knowledge of Ford products is clearly limited. I've been a Toyota Tacoma owner for 30 years. I don't have an issue with the Turbo 4. I have an issue with value. Toyota has more competition today, than they have had in many years. Chevy, Ford and Nissan are really competitive today. The Frontier is the value leader today due to the money on the hood. Bias aside, everyone needs to do their research. If I were replacing my Tacoma today, I'd have a hard time buying a new Tacoma. I'm not making a move anytime soon.

I would buy a Ford over a Toyota pickup truck any day. Especially, now!!!

I own a late model Ford product. At nearly 50 yrs old, its my 1st ford and my last. Horrible manufacturer. Sadly, GM and Ram are even worse. Its going to have to be the Frontier from here. 😂

I would avoid any vehicle with a CVT transmission . Absolute junk
