Absolutely it's honestly embarrassed to see the m4 chip in the newest iPad not be used to the potential it could be instead they rather you buy both devices instead of one 😢 apple gets on my nerves with this mess. Like if they care about money so much they should know if they just put both ipad os and Mac os on the iPad a bunch of people would buy it in a heartbeat 🙄

@@Space97. yeah I don’t really mind they charge higher price for iPad Pro with keyboard than a MacBook if the iPad is fully capable of desktop os and workflow. The current state of iPad is just sad and pathetic. Been waiting for this surface for years now, super excited

I certainly share the frustration but when I tried a surface tablet I realized that it’s essentially the inverse, where tablet windows is just trash to the extreme. So it’s only got “the best of both worlds” on paper. In reality it’s trash as a tablet compared to the super smooth iPad experience.

fun fact: if you bought the "flex" model keyboard instead of the "signature" model you have there, you can use the keyboard wirelessly when its detached from the tablet, also has haptic touchpad like what youre used to on the macbooks. Also, you can use the back of the pen to erase like a traditional pencil instead of having to go to a menu to select the eraser tool. Cheers mate.

I am surprised you are surprised as Apple has stated that there is zero chance of macOS coming to iPads in the next ten years (at least)--if ever. Apple is committed to improving iPadOS to make it the best tablet OS. They have macOS for desktops. It will take a while, but it is a long-term target.

The new Flex keyboard has haptic touchpad, it's more rigid too than the one you got. It also allows to type while not attached to the Surface. I got a new 13” iPad Pro with the M4 chip along with the Magic Keyboard. I’ve been using it as a replacement for my work laptop for the last three weeks. I had to connect it to my work’s mobile device management system to make it fully functional as a work device. With the Magic Keyboard it’s not a lot lighter than the MacBook Pro, but I do like having a touchscreen. So far, I can do about 80-90% of my work tasks without a problem. The file management app (Files) is a bit wonky and doesn’t operate well with OneDrive, but it’s doable. Some of the M365 apps aren’t as functional as they are on MacOS. But so far as I am in long meetings, some all-day, with Teams going for the meeting duration, I’m seeing only 3-4 hours of battery life. I’m NOT impressed by that. I get longer battery life on my MacBook Pro. I’ve had Surface tablets in the past, most notable the old Surface Pro X with the ARM processor. It too didn’t get great battery life, but I’m wondering if the new ones aren’t worth a try.

I noticed in the last 2 or 3 years, I hardly use the pen and also not so much the touch screen. The Alcantara keyboard won't last that long with regular usage. In 3 years I had to replace it twice which is an extra cost and not cheap. So I'm going for the Snapdragon Elite version... but the Surface Laptop and not the "tablet". With the laptop you have a 13" and a 15" version. I'm going for the 13" with 16GB ram and probably 512GB storage

  • @sloppynyuszi

    @sloppynyuszi

    Ай бұрын

The actual drawing performances actually evolve super slowly. For example, the spen from the Tab S3 is the same Wacom tech that’s in the latest s-pens. There are new Bluetooth features, but have nothing to do with drawing. Same with slim pen 2, it’s the same as as the one on surface pro 8, personally I think they went leaps and bounds with it to the point I think it’s perfectly fine for drawing. For the longest time MPP was awful as the line quality was awful for drawing cartoons or line art in general. I have Cintiq at work, for home I use iPad, Surface Pro and a remarkable. And I would say after working digitally for over a decade and using a ton of crap stylus’ for drawing. Today all 4 major stylus options your choice is subjective now. If you need to slow down footage to see a difference, it has no practical use. Most places still use Cintiqs with 60hz screens, and old 10 year plus Cintiqs with 2000 levels of pressure are still widely in use. This tech has peaked a while ago. My favourite tech to draw on is my remarkable 2 with a Lamy pen and a metal nib. It’s by far technically the most trash tablet I have, but the texture and feeling is just right 😅 so I can overlook the trash e-ink refresh rate, and using a notes app with 6 layers. Brad Colbow and Teoh on Tech are usually the best go to guides for pen tests, but honestly, the past years they all seem good enough. The USI pens and tablets using old MPP tech are the only ones to avoid and Wacom pens with batteries, but I think no one sells those anymore.

You can just set the tablet anywhere within view, and then put the keyboard on your lap and then type. I accidently did something like that earlier today. Not intentionally thinking it would work, but it just fucking worked, lol. I was laying on the couch and put the tablet on the coffee table and was just clicking away on the keyboard. Having experienced this feature now, I don't think I'd ever want to use a traditional laptop again.

Also speaking of the keyboard the typing experience is much better if you snap it up for the angled approach versus completely flat which I'm sure you've figured out by now.

I have been a fan of the Surface, since the original Pro, which I still have. I currently have the Pro 6. I love the device, albeit, I don't use it as much as I used to. I decided on the Surface Pro for school, over the iPad. At the time, the iPad was just a tablet and not really a good device for school.

That keyboard has a gimmick that you can fold the upper edge and make a foot which give you nice angle and stability

Is it me or does it seem to be a bit laggy. When im moving the window around, or minimizing, it doesn't feel as smooth and snappy as a normal tablet.

I'm surprised that he brought the standard keyboard instead of the flex one. Would have made a better review and comparison against the new ipad keyboard.

Suggestion for you as a primarily Apple user. Why not just tap the trackpad instead of clicking?

yes, you can flip the pen to erase. The back button can be customised to open programs or screen snip. The side button is used as a lasso tool. The slim pen 2 is one of the best in the market right now.

The problem with M series SOC is: They are only available with MAC OS! I would/WILL switch as soon, as I can get something as fast in Resolve Studio as the M1 for a similar price. Mobile device.

I started buying surface products since surface pro 2 and never went back. Surface pro 2 and 5 were so useful during my college days tonuse AutoCAD and not having to carry books or notes breaking mu back. When the Surface Pro came out I did wait for the Pro 2 to come out and once ai got it it reduced the weight of my backpack from like 40 pounds carrying the books and notes to just carrying the Surface pro products. I will say the surface pro 2 pen was way better than the surface pro 5 pen.

For me the killer machine would be a new ARM Surface Go... Fast tablet like experience, with all Windows apps. Lighter than an 11" iPad Pro with Magic keyboard too

I agree with your comment about if apple is not going to make what I want. I have a 16 MBP M3 Max and its great but huge. I try to leave with my M4 Ipad Pro 13 all the time but i get stuck because a lot of my work stuf doesn't work on the ipad. So this is such a perfect device to be portable enough and do everything I need it to do. The iPad is great because it has cellular but this will have it eventually and I will just buy the cellular version. Windows made what I've been dreaming of apple doing with the iPad and won me over.

the issue i have with windows is that over time is slowed down... i also felt that somethings were great but most was just ok... i used to have a surface laptop and a surface tablet -- the laptop worked like a laptop and was great for the most part... but the surface tablet struggles to be a laptop and is very poor at being a tablet. i do like ipads...but it's shame the M chips ipads cant give us the option to run desktop apps (they should run considering it's using the same chip as the laptops)... putting MacOS on the tablet would be great as an option and have iPad apps work (you can currently run certain iPad apps on the mac) -- the only thing stopping them is money... at the moment people are still buying a mac and an iPad rather than a single device
