It looks so nice! They've always colour matched it though, but not to this extent lol. Previously the device picture on the front was colour-matched, but now there's no picture and the box itself is colour-matched, which looks awesome. I do wish the device picture was at least on the back of the box for easy recognition lol

Ah man. So many people seem to miss this point. Click the battery in the bottom right then click the battery again in the pop up window (with the percent), then under power modes change it to best performance. Then run your benchmarks again

@@JerrySchulze it's more since intel and AMD chips need those options as they're not as efficient. Less so for the new X elite but still it does provide users an option to be more economical. Not necessarily a bad thing since most consumers won't need the extra performance and so may as well have better battery.

Now that there are actually good Windows laptops out there the choice between Macbook and Surface laptop got so much harder. I've been thinking about buying a Macbook for so long because of that great battery life and now that Microsoft matches that I am not sure if Macbook is still worth the complexity of switching platforms.

80, recommended. It’s dumb that this is still a thing in Windows laptops but I do get higher single core when changing to better performance.

That is a beautiful laptop. I had 3 Surface devices in the past, and I think the Surface line has always set the standard for the rest of the Windows laptop industry.

Same, love my iPhone so tried to stay in the same ecosystem but something about macOS. So debating going back to the windows. All I ever really use on an Apple MacBook is Safari and iPhoto and I’m not sure it’s worth the price.

Wonderful video. Could you try using any Adobe apps like Illustrator and check if it runs smoothly. I use Illustrator on daily basis (I am a student). My current MSI laptop is powerful, but in terms of efficiency its may be -100 (assuming I can give that score), rendering the laptop useless for travel without the 240W charging brick.

I wouldn’t say surface laptops come close to the build quality of apple. I know what you mean. But every time i click on the trackpad, the mouse moves a little somewhere because of the trackpad design. Also, the surface laptops are 4x more likely to break down within the first 2 years of use. Real stat by third party using verified numbers. Also, we all know the longevity of windows laptops and the resale value.

6:39 it's not for ads, it's how they setup preinstalled programs in your pc. also, surface laptops have had haptic touchpads for a long time now.

Not really, the first surface laptop with haptic trackpad was the Surface Laptop Studio that came out either last year or 2 years ago. The remaining lineup has had physical trackpads until this year's models.

I can't seem to integrate co pilot in my applications?

I absolutely love my MacBook and I switched over coz I was fed up of windows!!! You should have mentioned that this particular unit is a LCD display, where all the 2024 Microsoft surface Pro and Laptops are available in OLED 120 Hz as well. Then the benchmark! most of the reviews are making the same mistakes. They are running the benchmark on a Balanced Power Mode that balances the CPU power and efficiency. It's not the true potential of this processor. On windows laptops, you have to change the power mode to Ultra\High Performance Mode and then run the benchmark to get the absolute best performance from the CPU. If you can not find the High performance mode under the battery settings, then you have to enable it through CMD. This is basically how the OEM's configure each specific models of laptops. I feel like you should have done some more research before making this video as people might not get all the info if they were to make a buying decision.

You can configure all the 2024 surface laptops with a OLED 120 Hz display that have excellent color.

Perhaps you should look at other Snapdragon/Copilot+ platforms. My fave so far is the Lenovo Yoga Slim 7x 14.5" OLED Touchscreen Copilot+ PC Laptop (Snapdragon X Elite) - beats the Surface equivalent model in several ways.

Finally a review of the 15 inch. Some of us want the larger screens. Could you speak to whether this would be a good replacement for my gigantic 16in M1 Mac Book Pro. I don't need all that power but I love having a larger screen for productivity reasons. I take my laptop to the cafe a lot to work.

If this had Samsung Galaxy Book 3k 120hz touch oled and cheaper 32gb and 64gb ram upgrades it would be awesome. Kudos for upgradeable SSD and 16GB standard on all qualcomm laptops. Apple will have to make 16gb tje standard now especially with AI or sales will slow down. Apple could add upgradeable ssd e even apple silicon instead of super slow soldered 256 and 512 standard ones I dont think they will, but 16GB .512ssd should be the absolute min from now on. Dell and others will soon be releasing super fast super thin memory modules. So in about a year this may have upgradeable memory on thin and lights.

It's very good that this feature is not implemented. A feature for very few that will affect the privacy of many.

I was thinking of getting one but I often game so waiting until next year if laptops can integrate both chip and graphics card in laptop. Also Microsoft laptop only has 60 hz refresh rate

Windows Hello is older than Face ID

The video does a good job of presenting the features of this computer. However, I miss a comparison of the key differences with previous generations of the Surface line, specifically the use of the ARM based processor. Since this Laptop's processor is not based on the x86 architecture, the vast majority of Windows programs will not run natively but through the Prism emulator (similar to Rosetta on macOS). This is a very important distinction that the video highlights only briefly with the video game test. Until we have more tests on how efficiently x86 programs run through emulation (especially with multitasking), it's hard to judge whether purchasing these laptops is truly worth it. Additionally, the built-in Copilot features are underdeveloped. It's essentially the regular web version of Copilot that can be used in the Edge browser on any operating system. It seems that the release of this computer was rushed, as the software lags significantly behind what was shown at Microsoft's presentation.

These should.have had full Linux support out of the box on day 1. An all day, no compromise, Linux device is the dream.

Trackpad is nowhere near large enough. Tried it in the store. Not sure why they couldn’t make it larger and closer to the edge like the 13 inch model and MACs.

So basically this is a laptop that uses the current edge explorer as an OS assistant, The same you can already on edge browser. Otherwise it's just another laptop with some cool features here and there

Could Microsoft put that now-removed AI feature as an extension of some sorts? Like how in Windows OS in general we can add features extensibly.

Faster and cheaper with more features than apple, better battery life than amd. Its good to have choice each system will have uses and minuses and like the m1 the elite chips need software to be updated to get the best performance . But always be ware if first year products. 16gb standard and upgradeable ssd are huge for longevity. Price wise some elite models are close to bargains in some cases with oled 120hz touchscreens ports standard 16gb even 1 tb replaceable ssd standard on some snap models. Great medal build quality ports touchoads keyboards. But they do lack in the gpu soace no egpu or thunderbolt no diy upgradeable ram.

i dont understand why is every youtuber praising this chip for efficiency while it is only slightly better than current amd offerings and upcoming intel and amd cpus will prbably atleast match the efficiency of this chip if not exceed it

It’s new so it’s exciting.

There are some valid use cases for Recall, but Microsoft dropped the ball by not choosing to market it as an "optional" feature instead of pushing it in front of everybody's face just like they do with Edge. I do miss the Windows 10 timeline feature, which tells me what I worked on or opened, and it roams across devices.

Beware not to make same mistake as me ... bought surface pro elite and can't use Google Drive app anymore (not blaming MS but Google for that - guess i ll move to One)

It's not. It's integrated on the system chip with everything else. The main idea of Apple's M-series processors and these new Copilot+ PC's is the system-on-a-chip thing where everything in incorporated in the same chip.

I wonder if all reviewers are under embargo, they got a laptop with NPU that claims 40 teraflops and absolutely no one of them try to run Ollama, LMstudio or anything that actual matches the whole point of the laptop. In device inference. Smh.

Guess you enver saw a Zephyrus G14 2024, Razer Blade and Dell XPS laptops. Because they match Apple build quality.

They should bring back android emulation with ability to use any store on the system. Many useful android apps are compiled for ARM and can be used in this PC.

Recall was NOT the flagship features. What's that about?! It's just made the buzz, that doesn't mean it's something everyone, heck, ANYONE, was waiting for.

Micro SD card is perfect because you can "forget it" and use its extra space (512GB in my case) . I've store most data and one drive cache on it. This way I can live with only 512GB of SSD

Dell is the best imo. Have been using the XPS 13 Plus for more than a year now. I like it more than my M1 Pro 14' MBP. Just talking about the device [and not about performance, efficiency and battery life etc]. Hardware wise, I'd pick the XPS any given day over my MacBook.

This is the best review I have seen for the copilot+ laptops. You went through more of the AI stuff than I have seen in other reviews, which I feel is the only reason to consider buying one of these. Still, I'd like to see if it can perform some of the stuff I saw in Microsoft's demo, such as helping a player in a game. In their demo, a guy was playing Minecraft in a window and the AI was having a voice interaction with him.

I actually have terrible skin and use lots of lotion and when I made this video, I was also surprised that I didn’t see fingerprints. I will definitely talk about that more in the MacBook comparison video.

Who in the world uses those SD cards at all? Let's just get over it and remove them completely. From the go pro I would rather plug in the usb c connector than mess around with physical cards.

Copilot on Windows 12 shows an instruction video of Windows 11. Only Microsoft is able to deliver this kind of quality experience that will freak out non tech savvy users 🤣
