I just got a MacBook Pro 13in M1 on eBay this week for around $680 US dollars that's optioned with 16gb of ram and its standard 256gb ssd, I'm upgrading from a 15in mid 2015 MacBook Pro it is still fairly useable in todays age as I had it through December of 2023 up until this week in which I will put it to rest. I had replaced its battery with a new one, as well with its speakers and ssd to a 1TB along with using open core legacy to get the latest patches and it has still been useable throughout my first semester of college. I would still be using it but I had an opportunity to get into apple silicon with the specs this M1 had, So now I am just listing it in my local Facebook marketplace to recoup some costs with this purchase. I am overall pleased so far with its battery life and speed, even the touch bar is still taking some getting used to but overall it isn't as bad as you'd think so if y'all are in the market for one go for it just make sure you get one with 16gb of ram so your device is future proofed.

You have to have the mind set like when cell phones first came out. Changed everything and never will we ever go back to the way we lived in the 80’s. So commit and embrace change.

I been using Surface since Rt. COming from the surface pro 7 to the surface 11 pro. A mobile OS doesn't compare to a full computer OS in my opinion.

Is it me or does it seem to be a bit laggy. When im moving the window around, or minimizing, it doesn't feel as smooth and snappy as a normal tablet.

I recommend trying out the Surface Pro Flex Keyboard, which is currently available in blue and black. You can use it to type even when the keyboard is disconnected. This will counteract the problem of not being able to hold the Surface Pro on your lap very well. Especially as I have to admit that I've never thought much of placing a laptop on my lap.

The bezels are for better camera (top) and to lift the keyboard (bottom) so it's on an angle and not flat on the table, hope it helps!

No matter what they have done, Windows still sucks in “tablet” mode. Horrible experience. Worse than iPad in “desktop” mode.

That no tablet if you compare it to Samsung tab s9 ultra. Now that a tablet because it looks like it has like two different modes and the tablet mode actually looks like a tablet with widgets and other stuff that doesn't look like window 11 and their desktop mode actually looks like a desktop which I like. Why can't MS do that? and no I am not talking about how they failed with Surface RT when it first came out with window 8. I had that too and it wasn't the great and the battery life wasn't that great either. We need the best of both world if we are to beat apple.

Literally using the M2 MacBook Air right now brilliant machine unless you were doing 8k editing it is a brilliant machine. Are you as mine for photo editing in content Watching better than any Intel machine I have ever used I went from a razor book 13 stealth it was also a great machine, but the minute you unplug it it's basically a paper way. The MacBook is the most powerful laptop I've ever owned due to the fact it is just as powerful unplugged.

the issue i have with windows is that over time is slowed down... i also felt that somethings were great but most was just ok... i used to have a surface laptop and a surface tablet -- the laptop worked like a laptop and was great for the most part... but the surface tablet struggles to be a laptop and is very poor at being a tablet. i do like ipads...but it's shame the M chips ipads cant give us the option to run desktop apps (they should run considering it's using the same chip as the laptops)... putting MacOS on the tablet would be great as an option and have iPad apps work (you can currently run certain iPad apps on the mac) -- the only thing stopping them is money... at the moment people are still buying a mac and an iPad rather than a single device

I agree with your comment about if apple is not going to make what I want. I have a 16 MBP M3 Max and its great but huge. I try to leave with my M4 Ipad Pro 13 all the time but i get stuck because a lot of my work stuf doesn't work on the ipad. So this is such a perfect device to be portable enough and do everything I need it to do. The iPad is great because it has cellular but this will have it eventually and I will just buy the cellular version. Windows made what I've been dreaming of apple doing with the iPad and won me over.

Fyi: the back of the pen is the erase. No need to click or anything. just turn around the pen and erase like with the eraser on the end of a pencil.

The question is - will it remain as stable as an iPad after 1-2 years of usage? Windows tends to slow down after some time and all you'll be left with is to reinstall everything from scratch.

I got a new 13” iPad Pro with the M4 chip along with the Magic Keyboard. I’ve been using it as a replacement for my work laptop for the last three weeks. I had to connect it to my work’s mobile device management system to make it fully functional as a work device. With the Magic Keyboard it’s not a lot lighter than the MacBook Pro, but I do like having a touchscreen. So far, I can do about 80-90% of my work tasks without a problem. The file management app (Files) is a bit wonky and doesn’t operate well with OneDrive, but it’s doable. Some of the M365 apps aren’t as functional as they are on MacOS. But so far as I am in long meetings, some all-day, with Teams going for the meeting duration, I’m seeing only 3-4 hours of battery life. I’m NOT impressed by that. I get longer battery life on my MacBook Pro. I’ve had Surface tablets in the past, most notable the old Surface Pro X with the ARM processor. It too didn’t get great battery life, but I’m wondering if the new ones aren’t worth a try.
