I just like how these chaos marines weren’t treated as fodder. Even without the stern regimented training, the guys are still space marines, and are more than a match for their cousins. The imperial fists fortified their position and reaped a terrible toll against superior numbers. Not because they’re the heroes or they’re extra awesome, but because they planned accordingly and performed it well. Also great is that even though the guard got only 1 confirmed kill, at the end of the day, over 10,000 years of war and death sometimes just can’t do anything vs a loyal boi with a lascannon.

Imperial Fists are known for fortifying and fighting under siege. If they're defending this position, it's pretty clear that guardsmen we be slightly more efficient than usual.

@@TheHandofDestiny A chaos space marine. That's one big guy with high reflexes, wearing the best armor humanity can produce (prior to primaris), armed with a grenade launcher that can pierce through pretty much anything, and accompanied by a good chunk of his chapter. So yeah, impressive.

Actually the Astartes finish what the Guard can't. It's not that they steal. There are many times the Guard have finished a war without the Marines. Just times like these, they need a bigger hammer

Most people would think , this and Astartes were high budget official Warhammer 40k short films made by the original creators of the franchise , and the Ultramarine " movie " was some faulty but admirable fanmade attempt . Imagine the disappointment when they find out it was actually the reverse . A new Chaos God could be born from that .

@Daniel Misikin That's odd because in 3rd edition the DA had a chapter trait called stubborn that iirc would not permit the unit in combat to retreat.

They looked like a mix of cadians yet they looked like they had the logo of a PDF. I think there a mix of guardsman and PDF troopers. I would like to believe that the guardsman were out of power packs so the picked up anything from stubbers to autoguns. Correct me if I'm wrong

I notice a lot of Astartes inspiration behind these animations. Like the way it pans behind walls and structures as a way of cutting to the next scene and the way guardsmen are shown dying as the marines push forward. If you watch both animations back to back as I just did you will know what I mean. Not to criticise the Siege creator, nothing wrong with taking inspiration from a great creator, just wanted to point it out.

Ah yes the sons of Dorn doing what they do best dying gloriously beneath the boots of The Iron Warriors

I suspect it was all in defence of the book so by holding up the Iron Warriors and giving the Tech Priest time to escape with it, we can call that a win for the noble sons of Dorn!

A great animation. As much as I love the Imperial Fists and the Black Templars, I am a huge fan of the Iron Warriors because they’re the perfect counterparts to the IF. Plus their armor looks older and way more detailed.

I like the subtle ending. It's not all about the fight, but also the cost.

2:50 Oh, wow... the red after-traces on the eyes as they move. Brilliant!!

pretty sweet! I like how the iron warriors are represented aside from the guy who gets out of the land raider to shoot off into nothing. Cool idea but there weren't any enemies on the ground and none visible on the fortress walls, the next shot has a razorback but it's a different angle shooting at the thunderhawk. There might have been Imperial fists 'off-camera' but I think it's a tiny detail that would make it feel so much more complete for me. Badass crashing a plane into a building, must have had Bane onboard!

If these were the Black Templars,they would have won. Imperial Fists are good at dying 😆.

Iron Warriors and Imperial Fists, two of my favorite legions. That last Guardsman who stunned the Dreadnought with his last shot of the Lascannon, may his name be remembered for all time!

That poor guardsman who got annihilated by the dreadnought oof. The one armed imperial fist is the definition of "tis but a scratch".

7:57 this is where Valrak makes a veteran sergeant in the reclaimers of dorn with the exact same backstory as that marine

The last stand of the hammer marine reminds me of the nameless berserker who held a bridge against all comers to buy his allies time to retreat. He was finally beaten when an enemy floated upriver in a barrel and stabbed him from underneath the bridge.

The Fists were probably sent to a world some heretic forces were attacking to extract this book. It looks to have started out as a sort of low-profile extraction (no extra fortification in or outside the room, as well as one to two squads worth of brothers), but the Iron Warriors (who were also there, for shits and giggles) got a hint of that yellow booty and gunned it straight for the spire they were located in, because they are salty.

They were protecting the xodex astartes signed by dorn " 5/10 it was ok " ^^

The space marine losing his arm and immediately resuming the fight with one arm might be the most accurate depiction of the Astartes I’ve ever seen in a video. Just absolutely no fear or even pain response just dedication to the emperor and the chapter

For Dorn! For Terra! We will fortify the Imperium with the corpses of the Emperors foes!

While I’ll always be a death guard fan the iron warriors are easily my second favorite but all in all it’s still just nice in chaos marines wreck shit

All of Sodaz's 40k stuff is gone from youtube, so I think your videos are the only way to watch his work now. I heard something about him working with GW now to post his animations on their website but I can't find them anywhere else.

Way I figure it, that was an STC... the Mechanicus were there to get a template out of it (the book being 'teleported' together), that's why it needed power, and probably the Imperial Fist smash captain was going to destroy it with overcharged plasma at the end to deny the Iron Warriors the prize

I thought the purpose of the final shot wasn't to blow a reactor, but hide the fact that the book had been taken away.

It's ok, the Ultramarines are about to arrive and save the Imperial Fists... again! In all seriousness though, this is absolutley awesome!

10:00 they didn't. It seen like their objective was to take the book, and the book was safely extracted from their grasp. it was a costly, pehaps even phyrric, victory to the Imperial Fists. Edit: IF compleed their main objective (extract the book) for 3 VP, and achieved one of their secondaries (take down the dreadnough in glorious meele) for 2VP meanwhile, IW failed their main objective (take the book) for 0VP, but achieved 2 of their secondaries (eliminating the entire IF contingent and destroying taking control of the ground) for 2VP each it was a costly 5VP to 4VP for the IF, a costly Imperium victory

I like the contrast of how the Imperial Fists are unbeatable while they hold their position behind the shield wall, and even after it's broken they're still able to fight. At the same time, without their fortified position, they lose their advantage and the Iron Warriors are able to do what they do best. Makes you wonder how long they could've lasted if the Iron Warriors hadn't had that dreadnought.

Just watched it on his and absolutely loved it i loved the guy with the lascannon that almost killed the dread and the made it look like he showed hint of emotion with his body language

It seemed like they were protecting a shrine of some sort, with an ancient relic book within it. The purpose of the Imperial Fists wasn't to win or even survive, it was to hold off the Enemy long enough for the relic to be taken to safety. Your sacrifice will not be forgotten by the Ultramarines, brothers.

In the current canon - Rogal Dorn sacrifices himself and dies fighting countless Space Marines Valrak - Well he slowed them down so I guess it's a draw. Losing a primarch is not so devastating... xD

there is one thing equally deadly to an imperial fist holding his ground that's a salamander given 100 barrels of promethium a heavy flamer and told to go to town

I think breaching iron warriors are a little more deadly than an iron fist holding their ground.
