    My son brought the roller and a medium box home for me for Christmas. He can take them back. Not sure why I would want to pile everything in there.

    I'm pretty sure that I will spring for the set of 3, including this one. The shaky handle is disappointing, but it clearly doesn't have any effect on the ability to use it to move quite a bit of weight around. I agree with not wanting to stack tools on each other in the large bin, so there will likely be a bunch of wasted space. I currently store my Ryobi tools in large heavy duty totes that are pretty deep, so there's some stacking involved, but I have a bunch of the Ryobi cloth tool cases, so I use them within the totes for some of the tools I end up stacking.

    How well does it work on stairs? I have a six-wheel stair climbing dolly which is great on stairs. I know this won’t be as good, but maybe it is good enough. I am deciding between getting a stacking toolbox system without wheels and just using a nice dolly when needed or getting something like this with wheels. Right now I make multiple trips around my house carrying armfuls of tools, so something like this could help a lot. I probably don’t need it to hold all my tools, just enough for whatever job I’m doing around the house.

    Great question! The wheels are big enough and positioned just right to hit most stairs perfectly so you can climbing without getting stuck. However, this tool box is heavy even without anything in it (nearly 30lbs empty). So if you do get stuck halfway up some stairs or in a situation where you have to turn around or lift it out, it could be a pain.

    One thing that annoys me is that the handle doesn't go down FULLY to be flush with the yellow lid. So if you're putting it into the boot of a regular car, you've got to account for the bloody sticking out handle

    I just received mine from home depot. Upon opening the handle wouldn't release from the down position to telescope up. Defective upon delivery. Returned it. Ordered another to see if its a repeat problem. Otherwise, seems like a great case.

    Regarding your complaints about the bottom tool box being too deep and not wide enough, is that a criticism of just this Ryobi offering or is that a common problem with all the rolling toolbox lines? I’ve just started paying attention to these rolling toolboxes and the bottom box always seems to big to carry a bunch of handheld tools in it.

  • @SolelyRyobi

    @SolelyRyobi

    Good question! This is a similar style/size to others but the ‘complaint’ is really more of a hope that they continue to expand the line up as others have done and include more than one box with wheels.

    The one thing I do not like is that the handle has play in it. he discusses it in the video. I may try to shim mine. it gives the box a cheap feel to it, and makes it seem weaker than it really is. I watched this video to see if others were like this, or if it was mine. its all of them. Other than that, solid. For 99 bucks, it should be solid. its bascially a glorified tote with wheels. 18 gallon totes cost 12 bucks. I will say the bottom box holds a LOT of stuff.

    I came here looking to see if anyone had an answer to this as well. I've had my roller, medium box, and basket for a couple months and love them, aside from pretty much everything you stated as nit-picking. But they're way more affordable than the Milwaukee Packouts all of my co-workers use. Now I just hope Ryobi comes out with a 2 or 3-drawer toolbox style box like Milwaukee has.

    Maybe some tool hanging attachments similar to the wall board tool hooks could be designed, so as to not 'stack' tools in the rolling box, or a shelf-like divider tray in place of the little slide-in compartment? 🤷🤔

  • @brakecheck5354

    @brakecheck5354

    2 жыл бұрын

    A shelf-like divider makes a lot of sense to me, especially if said shelf had a handle that you could lift up with one hand. Then it could be treated almost as two toolboxes in one case if desired. The only downsides being that you would have to lift out the shelf if you wanted to get to bottom half and that you would have to store the shelf/divider somewhere else when you weren’t using it (which is no different than with all the other plastic bins that come with these systems).. I hope Ryobi reads this. :)

    @@brakecheck5354 What about a stereotypical shallow tray w/a handle? It's still better than stacking your tools on top of one another and digging to find what you're looking for. Maybe make it folding where when weight is applied on top, it locks into place, supporting the weight on top of it. But when there's no weight on it, it folds in half and the handle is recessed into one half of the tray?

  • @brakecheck5354

    @@251_Performance I think we’re talking about the same thing, only you said tray and I said shelf. Tray is probably more descriptive so let’s go with that. Making it folding and building in a place to store it when not being used like you described would be icing on the cake!

    These boxes are a huge disappointment for me. After using Ridgid packouts for 6 years and recently getting some of DeWalt ToughSystem 2.0 I have a pretty good idea of what these boxes should be. So for the money, DeWalt TS2.0 gives you better value than these (plus the way to customize DeWalt boxes is almost endless). Ryobi boxes are flimsy, can't stand on their side, handle doesn't have positive position hold - they swing freely, trays are moving inside in the small box, the box itself is not sturdy and it shifts right or left under a load of tools so the lid does not align properly with the box and you have to shift lid to be able properly close latches. The lid is soft and does not compress along all perimeter but at latches only. When I tried to press a button and lift the small box by the handle (swinging motion upward) the box stuck, needs to be lifted with both hands straight up. Don't get me wrong, I am not returning it back. I am gonna keep all my Ryobi tools in it as it has an impressive capacity. Plus they look cool... I waited for them for so long... But! Unfortunately, I don't see myself using them in a field, hell no! So I decided to park it in my garage and went and bought more of Ridgid and DeWalt boxes. Now I am waiting for Link 2.0.

    Many of the other brands of boxes are made in Israel by the same company for different tool companies in the USA. In my opinion the quality of the Israeli made boxes is higher than Ryobi which is made in the USA. Ryobi is flimsy compared to Ridgid.
