New Rule: Attorney Genial | Real Time with Bill Maher (HBO)

When Democrats have to choose a top lawman, they worry so much about appearing non-partisan that they pick someone who lets actual crimes go unpunished.

I don't see that the Democrats responded slowly/poorly. I see a tactical move for prosecution during campaign tours. AKA, they weren't slow, they were delayed on purpose. One of Trump's strengths is his campaign, he has a lot of stamina for his rallies across the country. But, if he's in court, time is taken away from that. However, what the Democrats aren't considering is that one of Trump's other strengths is using negative press to his advantage. They might be severely underestimating him...yet again.

Americans, it's vitally important that you 1) ban the lobbying industry - it's just legalised bribery 2) actually sort out the Supreme court - it has for too many years/decades been influenced by politician's whims, the exact opposite of its purpose in the first place And although old age should NOT be a barrier to the presidency, by all that's holy, please find yourselves a nice young president that can bring some fresh ideas and life to the country, uniting it into the great Union that it was always meant to be. Get a new JFK! To see the US tearing itself apart by the design of its politicians is so sad...

    1) Sure, we mainly need to get money out of politics 2) Unfortunately, the Supreme court is fairly partisan, but not in the way you are alluding to. On the conservative end, yes Roe v Wade clearly was an agenda, but the original Roe case was also a poorly constructed decision that Biden knew could be easily overturned as far back as '85, so that one is kind of on the Democrats for not doing anything to enshrine those rights for nearly 50 years. Frankly, Roe itself was quite literally legislating from the bench. 3) JFK was not a particularly good president. Yes he got us through the Cuban missile crisis, barely, and he did push civil rights, but he also opened the door for one of the most racist presidents we have had in living memory to architect a welfare state designed to keep people of color poor and dependent on the Democrat Party. He was just good looking. So, no, we actually don't need a young, inexperienced president who just looks good. How about a middle aged person who A) knows what the hell they are doing and B) actually cares about the country more than their pocket books? 4) It is sad to see us so divided, but you can thank Obama for that one. His obsession with identity politics is where the rot started. Trump was simply the equal but opposite reaction, and now here we are. 5) American politics still beats The UK, imo. I rather like having actual rights.

Absolute nonsense. Garland waited almost 22 months before appointing the Special Counsel to investigate Jan 6th and _von ShitzInPants’_ other crimes. He could have appointed a special counsel on Jan 21st, 2021-there was no need to wait for Congress to attempt to impeach Trump (which it failed to do) or hold its Jan 6th hearings/investigation. If you think any aspect of the two federal cases are weak, then you're not only biased, you're also intellectually challenged. Jack Smith isn't someone known for throwing a pale of the _faeces_ at the wall in the hopes that something _might_ stick. Few criminals in America have been treated with the kid gloves, your _lieber Führer_ (“dear Leader”) \o Dementia J “Loser” _von ShitzInPants_ has been afforded. He should have been in jail a long time ago. Running for president shouldn't give anyone a _free pass_ to avoid criminal prosecution for crimes committed.

its so sad that tehre are so many people that havent even got the news teh whole russia collusion thing was fake and one of the biggest scandles in us history. Trump is one of the most honest people out there, i never would have thoght that untill after years of the most powerful national security state in the world has been looking for crime they can pin on trump. they were unable to find anything thats worse than a parking ticket. in pensylvania, they wrote "alternate electors" on the legal work, but in some of the other states they forgot to add the world "alternate" and that was the basis of the crime. In the ugene carrol case she doesnt eremember the year or time it happened making it impossible for trump to show where he was that day. her entire story was the same as the story in am episode of law and order. Trump was not found liable for the r word, but ugene was able tos ue him because he went on tv and said he didnt know her and didnt do it. anddont get me started abotu the maralago case, This is so sad liberals have been totaly cutt off from the truth they are so filled with total lies that they are going to loose the one chance they have to actually get things straightened out in this country. trump was the first presdient that didnt start a single war, the middle class got a pay raise for the first time in 30 years, he also secured our boarder, and he got china to buy from us reducing our 600 billion trade deficit to 0. No one thought any of this was possible, now we know it is and our leaders have been screwing us over on purpose. 100%. IF ONLY. He would actually follow the law and not be afraid to lock up Trump and his Republican criminal buddies because he's afraid Fox News would say mean things about him. Merrick Garland is a worthless extremely conservative, Federalist Society goon that is giving special treatment to conservatives because he doesn't want things to be awkward at the cocktail parties in D.C. He was a bad choice for the Supreme Court when Obama nominated him, and he's been an even worse AG when Biden picked him, just because he wanted to do a 'gotcha' and Republicans and say 'Haha, we got the guy a good position now. Get owned!' We see how that stupid choice worked out. Deep down, I honestly think that Biden picked Garland SPECIFICALLY BECAUSE he knew Garland wouldn't do shit. Biden could replace him RIGHT NOW if he wanted to, but he doesn't. Biden has been friends with many of these conservatives for decades, they are his buddies and he doesn't want the law to apply to them. Biden is far closer to their ideology than the basic, generic Democratic or 'liberal' ideology anyways.

Garland was far from the first time a supreme court nomination was delayed to try and get the guy they wanted. If Garland can't handle DOJ, then he probably wasn't a good choice for Supreme Court either.

There were one or two notable Republican legislators at the time who said that Garland would be an acceptable candidate for the Supreme Court. Then there was an opening in the court, and Garland's name came up. It was immediately shot down by Republicans. Why? Because Obama was president, and they wanted Obama to lose all the time at all costs.

Garland's "nomination was delayed" is false, you are probably trying to say "Mitch McConnel blocked the Senate from performing its Constitutional duty to vote to confirm the nominee" for about a year when they finally voted on "the guy they wanted". Yes the Senate let SCOTUS nominations lapse before Garland, but for a much smaller amount of time, back before air travel when it was a monumental effort to gather enough Senators by train and horse - so Maher is technically wrong but effectively correct.
