    Not to mention getting paid so well in show business. Congress members get paid well, but not THAT well. Also the examples he gave of actors in films imply that they all never worked together a 2nd time, so it was a terrible point.

    While he's right, it's hard to compare the two. Hollywood is result-oriented and pays really well, but only if you do well. Politics pays (relatively) poorly and pays regardless of your results, and even in some cases, gets you re-elected for avoiding results.

    Actually they did not work and it is not because they are in Hollywood it is because the people in question wanted to get paid. Sabotaging your job and tanking it in the box office hits the bottom line of your bank account. Also makes for fewer gigs after your worst work. So letting someone come between you and your money is not something those who work in Hollywood are about. There is no threat of this in congress. The constituents will still vote party line for them. Even Bill will vote ticket if he does not have a variety to choose from on his side. Just like every voter today.

    The reason actors can work together even though they hate eachother is that there’s direct financial consequences if they don’t. If the movie flops, they make less money and their reputation can take a hit, making future jobs harder to get. What are the immediate consequences if politicians don’t work together?

    It’s called empathy. Actors try on someone’s skin as part of the movie. They empathize with their character, not the person they are acting with. It’s easy not to get along when your focus is the character you’re playing and you want to make it work. That one word- empathy- is what actors have because they’re putting on a character not their own whereas a politician has to wear the same character all the time, there’s no switching off their character unlike actors who use their roles for therapy and again, empathy.

    ​@@australien6611 I think the comparison was ok, the problem is Bill didn't address *why* the actors can do that. The why is important if he wants the same outcome, otherwise it's just wishful thinking and complaining For example, if politician's salary was directly affected by congress' approval rating, you bet they'd clean up their act and start working together the next day. Because now their salary would be on the line, just like the actors. But without financial consequences, they can do whatever they want and it doesn't matter. The worst that can happen is they get voted out of office, which just incentivizes them to make their opponents look bad

    I disagree to a large extent. The people have been waiting years for Congress to solve the immigrant problem at the border. Start with the common goal. Next, agree how to spend less. Next, affordable health care. Certainly, we should all agree that the first is right up there -- and by all accounts, it is fixable. America has always been able to address common problems, until now.

    *FUN FACT* : Not sure why bill left this out. But anyway, yes Tom and Charlize had a difficult time, MAJOR big time tension between them -was never really clear on what it was but they really didnt care for each other. However, the cool thing, on the last day of shooting (or maybe after) Tom did have flowers or something delivered to her with a card saying something to the effect that "I know we didnt get along very well, but still, if I had to do this film over again, there is no one else I would choose besides you" Or something like that like hey we dont see eye to eye, but our talents work well together and like bill said, we get the job done.

    Remember the rules we learned in kindergarten? Always share your toys, and don't hoard them. Learn cooperative play. Put your toys back where they belong when you're done with them. Never hit anybody. Don't throw your food. Respect adults and be polite to people. Say please and thank you, excuse me, and ask permission to leave the room. Dress appropriately for school. Clean up your own messes. Respect your teacher. Make friends with other kids and take care of the weak ones. Play fair, use sportsmanship during gym and competitive gamwa. Take turns. Pledge allegiance. Work hard and study. Be a good citizen. And if you misbehaved or didn't do your homework, the teacher would give you a time-out, send you home with a letter and extra homework, and no one made excuses for your inappropriate behavior. Now teachers and principals are expected to be police,,shrinks, social workers and babysitters, as well. With low pay and dangerous schools, paying for school supplies from their own pockets.     I'd say it's a lot of that, yes, but that's mostly the case with the older generations of politicians. In this context, older/younger politicians meaning people who have been in politics for more or less time, not necessarily referring to their general age. I doubt Ted Cruz believes a single word out of any of the stupid shit he's said publicly about Joe Biden, or any of the people in his generation or older, but people who have been in politics for a lot less longer than him probably do have feelings more closely resembling hate and disdain than respectful disagreement. I think you're much more likely to find a pair of people from each side of the isle who respect each other regardless of their disagreements in older politician generations than in pairs who have been in politics for 10 years or less, let alone people who got into politics during the Trump presidency or after. For better or worse, people who have been in politics for a while know how the system works and they know that you can't completely lose respect for the other person's humanity, unlike the younger politicians who simply don't have that understanding and, because of the way they behave, they may never gain it at all

    I’m telling you. Feels so good, I became Independent and literally despise both parties. When I get into discussions with people it’s so liberating that I don’t pick any sides and mock them both. People really get confused because they either expect to fight or agree with you about the side they support. 😂
