New Orleans Piano | How to play "The Lick"

I like the way you lit the keyboard so that the reflection flashes when you hit a key. It makes it easier to see which key you are striking, at least on the white keys.
Very well done Arthur! Thorough and concise. The world thanks you!

Fabulous tutorial as always 😎🎹😎 Arthur is an amazing teacher 😊 I’ve been having private lessons with him via Skype for 2 years now 😀
You're a gifted teacher. The coolest thing about your videos is that they offer something for players of any level; you explain things w/out assuming that your viewers are idiots OR that we all understand tech talk/music theory buzz words. Simple but not condescending. Also, you play w/soul unlike some, which is what I really like.
Awesome! It actually improved my Boogie Woogie Performance!😁
Arthur, you have performed a public service, truly great concept and presentation, I finally understand the "twiddle", mid- hi-mid -lo

You’re a fantastic teacher. I'm still on the boogie woogie book, But have to say I'm liking the lick runs. I'd need to get a bigger tablet if I were get the new orleand piano pdf. Really like the idea of putting the stuff from the books on youtube though, very handy idea, cause having to log into the hal leonards to listen to the riffs is pain.

Really enjoying your lessons - both your "Boogie" book and your Tipitina/NOLA sheets I purchased last week. Just curious, what "other series" are you referring to at 9:44 in this video? Thanks again for everything !!

Rock n roll!
You can really tell where Ray Manzarek got some of his licks from, also especially that Booker bassline, he used variations on that quite a bit.
Hi Arthur! I just bought your book recently, I was wondering if you could recommend some right hand licks that would be best for a beginner? And are there videos to accompany them?
@CodyHazelleMusic

Hes got a whole bunch of videos here on his KZread and also on his boogie website. Go through and practice the crap out of those (especially the repertoire he gives) and you'll be on the right track. I started my boogie journey a year and a half ago. I'm still not near as good as Arthur but I can fake it pretty well thanks to him :) Hes probably my favorite piano teacher on KZread

Hi. I just discovered your website and KZread channel. I liked them very much and I will certainly visit them often. Your recordings are very helpful and not over-talked. Just awesome. My 10-year-old son (Olivier) likes Boogie Woogie very much. I would like to invite you to his YT channel (from which I write). Your opinion will be very important for us. Once again, thank you for the excellent tutorials. Regards. Marcin
I think version 6 might be a combination
Do you have lessons on openings? I can't figure out the opening on t=0:00 before the lick.

@@thearthurmigliazza Great. Sometimes it's difficult to see which keys you press because your free fingers also press some keys slightly. Your latest configuration solved that problem.
Almost sounds like mr Huey. I might post a similar tutorial. Can’t be teaching watered down New Orleans music

Or, distortion from having the gain on the piano too high. Just a thought...
j.
Couldn’t follow the left hand, it was too fast. Otherwise a nice video.
Annoying thumping sound ?
The Dr John tutorial may well be very interesting and entertaining, however he does not communicate each point transparently and fails to break down each example. Great player though, obviously!
